Parsha Vayishlach- And he went

Parsha Vayishlach- And he went -
B’reshit 32:4-36:43
Haftorah
Ovadyah 1-21, Hoshea 11:7-12:12, MattitYahu 26:36-42
Daniel ben Ya’acov Israel
When necessary you will find in (-) my own explanations. The Parsha Vayishlach brings us now to Ya’acov’s way back to the land of his father Isaac and Abraham. This is the P’shat or literal level. In the “sod” (mystery) as it is taught by יהושע (Mark 4:11) that only to the “talmidin” (disciples) it has been given the ability to know the “mystery” (sod) of the parables or the Torah.  Shaul speak about the letter of the Torah and say that the letter kill, it is only the Ruach (Sprit) who gives life (2nd. Corint.3:6).  Today we have two ways among those seeking for the truth, which are not giving life:
●The orthodox Yehudin follow their own righteousness by the letter of the oral Torah, with their takanot and Gezerot (enactments and decrees of the Pharisee), minhagin (customs enacted as law) and ma’asim (deeds and actions of the rabbis, making ma’asim a source fo new laws)
●The Christians who reject the authority of the Torah, and therefore do not walk according to the Ruach as it is taught by Sha'ul.
The only way to be transformed is by the renewing of our mind (Rom.12:2), which is through the Torah according to the Ruach who lead the believers in all truth. The Parasha Vayshlach bring us, up to the end time the return of Ya’acov and his household to the land of his father (promise land) and we should make effort to see the spiritual aspect of those involved in Ya’acov’s life.  The battle between Esau and his brother Ya’acov is a picture of the battle of the last days, remember that it is say that Edom today is Rome and who is Rome? The book of Daniel tells us who this kingdom is:
Dan 2:40 and the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.  Dan 7:7 after this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
Rome came after Greece, and has never been defeated. It has gone many restructuration, was divided but still stands to this very day at least in its spiritual entity. One point should be taken in consideration before starting reading. The book of Yasher should always be beside us when reading the Torah. Yasher (the book of the just) disclose what Moshe doesn’t tell us. Unfortunately many scholars have written non sense because they didn’t search or haven’t read the book of Yasher. Today there are scholars who think to print the Tanahk (Torah, Prophets, writings) including the book of Yasher. Remember Yasher is mentioned in (Yohushua 10:13 and 2n Sh”muel 1:18).  Moshe had another purpose when writing the Torah according to the Ruach of יהוה then to relate account of important matters and give instructions for a righteous life. We will get help from the book of Yasher to bring a better understanding in our Midrash.  Remember we saw in the Parsha “Vayetze” that Laban and his household is a picture of the Pharaoh, HaSatan and the place where he lived a picture of the “world system” with his rules, tradition and idolatry. Esau is the brother of Ya’acov living after the flesh. We find this type of people in the world today. They reject the spiritual to follow the material and pleasure of life (hedonism). They are jealous of Ya’acov position. יהוה is watching and will protect the seed of Ya’acov.  The last word from the Parsha Vayetze tells us that Ya’acov met the messengers (malakim) of יהוה, but didn’t give any details. We cannot know how come that Ya’acov sends his servants toward Esau!
You may say: Yes the messengers told Ya’acov about the coming of Esau! Yes that’s true, but we don’t have any details, why Esau changed his mind when he saw his brother Ya’acov, and how was Esau informed about Ya’acov coming back?
Don’t forget this is a picture of what is going on right now before our eyes! ..... Let us read what the book of Yasher tells us:
Yasher 31:  53. and Jacob(the righteous man) and Laban(the wicked man) offered sacrifice upon the mount, and they ate there by the heap, and they tarried in the mount all night, and Laban rose up early in the morning, and he wept with his daughters and he kissed them, and he returned unto his place.  54. and he(Laban) hastened and sent off his son Beor, who was seventeen years old, with Abichorof the son of Uz, the son of Nahor, and with them were ten men. 55. and they hastened and went and passed on the road before Jacob, and they came by another road to the land of Seir. 56. and they came unto Esau and said unto him, Thus saith thy brother and relative, thy mother's brother Laban, the son of Bethuel, saying, 57. Hast thou heard what Jacob thy brother has done unto me, who first came to me naked and bare, and I went to meet him, and brought him to my house with honor, and I made him great, and I gave him my two daughters for wives and also two of my maids. (Namoyboy si Laban)..58. and God blessed him on my account(who is righteous Laban o Jacov??Read Gen.30:30), and he increased abundantly, and had sons, daughters and maid servants. 59. He has also an immense stock of flocks and herds, camels and asses, also silver and gold in abundance; and when he saw that his wealth increased, he left me whilst I went to shear my sheep, and he rose up and fled in secrecy.
60. and he lifted his wives and children upon camels, and he led away all his cattle and property which he acquired in my land, and he lifted up his countenance to go to his father Isaac, to the land of Canaan.  61. and he did not suffer me to kiss my daughters and their children, and he led my daughters as captives taken by the sword, and he also stole my gods and he fled. 62. and now I have left him in the mountain of the brook of Jabuk, him and all belonging to him; he lacketh nothing.
63. If it be thy wish to go to him, go then and there wilt thou find him, and thou canst do unto him as thy soul desireth; and Laban's messengers came and told Esau all these things. ......... First of all we know now that Esau decided to move toward his brother Ya’acov because the wicked Laban sent his son to inform him.  Take notice that Laban told Esau that his brother Ya’acov was blessed by יהוה on his account (verse 58) and complain that he also stole his “gods”, and gave Esau the privilege to do whatever he think to be good, in other word to be the one to punish Ya’acov.  Many years have I asked myself why does Rachel have stolen the “gods” (read parasha Vayetze)? May be you know, but I will show you that it is only in the “sod” that we can see the beautiful things which יהוה has embedded in the Torah. There is no error possible for those who love יהוה, they will know the truth and the truth which is the Torah will set them free from the world system.
Gen 32:4 and he commanded them, saying, “Say this to my master Ěsaw, ‘Your servant Yaʽaqoḇ said this, “I have sojourned with Laḇan and stayed there until now.  Gen 32:5 “And I have bulls, and donkeys, flocks, and male and female servants. And I have sent to inform my master, to find favour in your eyes.” ’ ”
Bulls: picture of righteous people
Donkey: picture of slave people serving the righteous, may be during the millennium!
Flocks, male and female: The assembly of יהושע......
Gen 32:6 So the messengers returned to Yaʽaqoḇ, saying, “We came to your brother Ěsaw, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred men with him.”  Gen 32:7 and Yaʽaqoḇ was greatly afraid and distressed. So he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks and herds and camels, into two groups,  Gen 32:8 and he said, “If Ěsaw comes to the one group and attacks it, then the other group which is left shall escape.”
Ya’acov’s carnal nature will be ultimately challenged before becoming the patriarch called in the bowels of his Father Abraham. Ya’acov knows that יהוה has told him that he will make him like his father Itzahk and Abraham, but only the ultimate challenge will enable him to become the one he is call to be.  How it is with us? Have we reached our ultimate challenge’s point? Have we reached the point we think that if Elohim doesn’t intervene we are going to die?  Ya’acov didn’t know that יהוה was watching and had already made provision for his protection:.....
Yasher 31.  64. and Esau heard all the words of Laban's messengers, and his anger was greatly kindled against Jacob, and he remembered his hatred, and his anger burned within him. 68. and the whole of this camp went as it was, and Esau went amongst them toward Jacob, and he conducted them with speed. 69. and Laban's messengers departed from Esau and went to the land of Canaan, and they came to the house of Rebecca the mother of Jacob and Esau. 70. and they (Laban’s messengers) told her saying, Behold thy son Esau has gone against his brother Jacob with four hundred men, for he heard that he was coming, and he is gone to make war with him, and to smite him and to take all that he has.  71. and Rebecca hastened and sent seventy two men from the servants of Isaac to meet Jacob on the road; for she said, Peradventure, Esau may make war in the road when he meets him. 72. and these messengers went on the road to meet Jacob, and they met him in the road of the brook on the opposite side of the brook Jabuk, and Jacob said when he saw them, This camp is destined to me from God, and Jacob called the name of that place Machnayim.  73. and Jacob knew all his father's people, and he kissed them and embraced them and came with them, and Jacob asked them concerning his father and mother, and they said, They were well. 74. and these messengers said unto Jacob, Rebecca thy mother has sent us to thee, saying, I have heard, my son, that thy brother Esau has gone forth against thee on the road with men from the children of Seir the Horite.......
We see here clearly how Ya’acov was informed of Esau’s coming against him.
Ya’acov reaction was to pray to יהוה (verses 9-12). He feared Esau and knew that only יהוה was to deliver him. When we let this word penetrate our soul, we can see that we also, partakers from Ya’acov household (Luke 1:33 , Eph.2:19) should pray to יהוה for deliverance from “Esau” the worldly brethren who wish to destroy us. Ya’acov begins his prayer, by reminding Elohim what he told him. What did יהוה told us? It is already in His word. Just take it and let יהוה knows what He says in His word (i.e. Heb 13:5 Let your way of life be without the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, “I shall never leave you nor forsake you,”).
Gen 32:9 And Yaʽaqoḇ said, “O Elohim of my father Aḇraham and Elohim of my father Yitsḥaq, יהוה who said to me, ‘Return to your land and to your relatives, and I do good to you,’  . Gen 32:10I do not deserve (Yacov humility) the least of all the kind acts and all the truth which You have shown Your servant, for I passed over this Yardĕn with my staff, and now I have become two groups.  Gen 32:11 “Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Ěsaw, for I fear him, lest he come and shall smite me and the mother with the children. (Yacov’s flesh is shaking!) Gen 32:12 “For You said, ‘I shall certainly do good to you, and shall make your seed as the sand of the sea, which are too numerous to count.’ ” .  ………We can read also the prayer recorded in the book of Yasher:
15. and when he heard the words of his brother which he had spoken to the messengers of Jacob, Jacob was greatly afraid and he was distressed. 16. and Jacob prayed to YHWH his God, and he said, O YHWH God of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, thou didst say unto me when I went away from my father's house, saying, 17. I am YHWH God of thy father Abraham and the God of Isaac, unto thee do I give this land and thy seed after thee, and I will make thy seed as the stars of heaven, and thou shalt spread forth to the four sides of heaven, and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 18. and thou didst establish thy words, and didst give unto me riches and children and cattle, as the utmost wishes of my heart didst thou give unto thy servant; thou didst give unto me all that I asked from thee, so that I lacked nothing.
19. and thou didst afterward say unto me, Return to thy parents and to thy birth place and I will still do well with thee.
20. and now that I have come, and thou didst deliver me from Laban, I shall fall in the hands of Esau who will slay me, yea, together with the mothers of my children. 21. Now therefore, O YHWH God, deliver me, I pray thee, also from the hands of my brother Esau, for I am greatly afraid of him. 22. and if there is no righteousness in me, do it for the sake of Abraham and my father Isaac. 23. for I know that through kindness and mercy have I acquired this wealth; now therefore I beseech thee to deliver me this day with thy kindness and to answer me. 24. and Jacob ceased praying to YHWH, and he divided the people that were with him with the flocks and cattle into two camps, and he gave the half to the care of Damesek, the son of Eliezer, Abraham's servant, for a camp, with his children, and the other half he gave to the care of his brother Elianus the son of Eliezer, to be for a camp with his children.
It is noteworthy to see the humility of Ya’acov verse 22 if there is no righteousness in me, do it for the sake of Abraham and my father Isaac.............
Ya’acov didn’t counted for granted thinking that יהוה will act on his behalf. Today we can also pray in the same way Ya’acov did: «if there nor righteousness in me, do it for the sake of our Master יהושע who has become our righteousness for us”..........1Co 1:29 that no flesh should glory in his presence. 1Co 1:30 but of him are ye in the Messiah יהושע, who of YHWH is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Remember we are save by favour through faith that is in Messiah יהושע (Eph. 2:8).
Gen 32:13 and he spent the night there, and took what came to his hand as a present for Ěsaw his brother –
Gen 32:14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,
Gen 32:15 thirty milk camels with their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals.
Gen 32:16 and he gave into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said to his servants, “Pass over before me, and put some distance between drove and drove.”  Gen 32:17 and he commanded the first one, saying, “When Ěsaw my brother meets you and asks you, saying, ‘To whom do you belong, and where are you going? And whose are these in front of you?’  Gen 32:18 then you shall say, ‘They are your servant Yaʽaqoḇ’s. It is a present sent to my master Ěsaw. And see, he also is behind us.’ ”  Gen 32:19 So he commanded the second, and the third, and all who followed the droves, saying, “Speak to Ěsaw this same word when you find him,  Gen 32:20 and you shall say, ‘Also look, your servant Yaʽaqoḇ is behind us.’ ” For he said, “Let me appease him with the present that goes before me, and after that see his face. He might accept me.”  Gen 32:21 and the present passed over before him, but he himself spent the night in the camp.
Let us go back to the book of Yasher to see what יהוה is doing while Ya’acov organizes is camp. Esau is full of pride and contempt! Is it not today the way the “mighty rulers” of the richest nations of world behave, with pride and contempt?
Yasher 32:  1. and at that time Jacob sent messengers to his brother Esau toward the land of Seir, and he spoke to him words of supplication. 7. and those messengers went to Esau, and found him on the borders of the land of Edom going toward Jacob, and four hundred men of the children of Seir the Horite were standing with drawn swords. 9. and Esau answered them with pride and contempt, and said unto them, Surely I have heard and truly it has been told unto me what Jacob has done to Laban, who exalted him in his house and gave him his daughters for wives, and he begat sons and daughters, and abundantly increased in wealth and riches in Laban's house through his means.
10. and when he saw that his wealth was abundant and his riches great he fled with all belonging to him, from Laban's house, and he led Laban's daughters away from the face of their father, as captives taken by the sword without telling him of it. 11. and not only to Laban has Jacob done thus but also unto me has he done so and has twice supplanted me, and shall I be silent? 12. Now therefore I have this day come with my camps to meet him, and I will do unto him according to the desire of my heart.13. and the messengers returned and came to Jacob and said unto him, We came to thy brother, to Esau, and we told him all thy words, and thus has he answered us, and behold he cometh to meet thee with four hundred men.
14. Now then know and see what thou shalt do, and pray before God to deliver thee from him. The answer from Ya’acov messenger was to pray to יהוה for deliverance. Verse 12 read what Shaul says to יהושע’s talmidin (Rom 12:19 Beloved, do not revenge yourselves, but give place to the wrath, for it has been written, “Vengeance is Mine, I shall repay,” says יהוה.)
It is also good to see that Esau follow the lies of Laban who walked after HaSatan:
Joh 8:44 ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Yasher 32 16. And Jacob prayed to YHWH his Elohim, and he said, O YHWH Elohim of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, thou didst say unto me when I went away from my father's house,  saying, 17. I am YHWH Elohim of thy father  Abraham and the Elohim of Isaac, unto thee do I give this land and thy seed after thee, and I will make thy seed as the stars of heaven, and thou shall spread forth to the four sides of heaven, and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 18. and thou didst establish thy words, and didst give unto me riches and children and cattle, as the utmost wishes of my heart didst thou give unto thy servant; thou didst give unto me all that I asked from thee, so that I lacked nothing. 19. and thou didst afterward say unto me, Return to thy parents and to thy birth place and I will still do well with thee. 20. and now that I have come, and thou didst deliver  me from Laban, I shall fall in the hands of Esau who will slay me, yea, together with the mothers of my children. 21. Now therefore, O YHWH Elohim, deliver me, I pray thee, also from the hands of my brother Esau, for I am greatly afraid of him. 22. and if there is no righteousness in me, do it for the sake of Abraham and my father Isaac.
Ya’acov acknowledges his fear to יהוה, read what King David writes:
Psa 34:4 I sought יהוה, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Yasher 32:  26. and Jacob tarried there that night, and during the whole night he gave his servants instructions concerning the forces and his children.
27. and YHWH heard the prayer of Jacob on that day, and YHWH then delivered Jacob from the hands of his brother Esau.
How did יהוה delivered Ya’acov from Esau’s evil plan?
Yasher: 28. and the YHWH sent three messengers of the messengers of heaven, and they went before Esau and came to him. 29. and these messengers appeared unto Esau and his people as two thousand men, riding upon horses furnished with all sorts of war instruments, and they appeared in the sight of Esau and all his men to be divided into four camps, with four chiefs to them. 30. and one camp went on and they found Esau coming with four hundred men toward his brother Jacob, and this camp ran toward Esau and his people and terrified them, and Esau fell off the horse in alarm, and all his men separated from him in that place, for they were greatly afraid. 31. and the whole of the camp shouted after them when they fled from Esau, and all the warlike men answered, saying, 32. Surely we are the servants of Jacob, who is the servant of God, and who then can stand against us? And Esau said unto them, O then, my master and brother Jacob is your master, whom I have not seen for these twenty years, and now that I have this day come to see him, do you treat me in this manner? 33. and the messengers answered him saying, As YHWH liveth, were not Jacob of whom thou speaketh thy brother, we had not let one remaining from thee and thy people, but only on account of Jacob we will do nothing to them. 34. and this camp passed from Esau and his men and it went away, and Esau and his men had gone from them about a league when the second camp came toward him with all sorts of weapons, and they also did unto Esau and his men as the first camp had done to them. 39. and when Esau beheld the evil which the four messengers had done to him and to his men, he became greatly afraid of his brother Jacob, and he went to meet him in peace. 40. and Esau concealed his hatred against Jacob, because he was afraid of his life on account of his brother Jacob, and because he imagined that the four camps that he had lighted upon were Jacob's servants.
Halleluyah! Ya’acov didn’t see anything of this action. He had pray to יהוה for deliverance and deliverance came by the hands of the “messengers” sent by יהוה to Esau. Do you think יהוה will do also for you and me? Yes of course if we trust him, because he says that he will be with us, particularly in the last days:
Isa 44:1 yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen: Isa 44:2 thus saith YHWH that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jeshurun (another name for Israel), whom I have chosen.
How the prophet Yeshayahu cans speaks of Ya’acov and Israël, Yeshayahu prophesied around 740-701 B.C.E. many centuries after Ya’acov’s death?
Yeshayahu spoke by the inspiration of יהוהRuach (Spirit) HaQodesh thus speaking of all those coming after belonging to Ya’acov’s Household:
2Ti 3:16 all scripture is given by inspiration of YHWH……………..
2Pe 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2Pe 1:21 for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of YHWH spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Jer 30:10 therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith YHWH; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will (future) save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.  Jer 30:11 for I am with thee, saith YHWH, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
Again the prophet Yrmeyahu speak in the future, like the prophet Yeshayahu, Yrmeyahu prophesied between 609-598 B.C.E thus speaking of a time future using Ya’acov’s name for his household!
Psa 91:14 “Because he cleaves to Me in love, Therefore I deliver him; I set him on high, Because he has known My Name. Psa 91:15 “When he calls on Me, I answer him; I am with him in distress; I deliver him and honour him.
To love יהוה is to keep His commands there is an eternal promise of deliverance for those who cleave to יהוה
1Jn 2:3 and by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands.1 1Jn 5:3 For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commands,1 and His commands are not heavy.
Esau was blinded by his hatred toward Ya’acov. Esau and Ya’acov were raised in the same House by Itzak their father. Ya’acov rose in the love of the Torah, Esau in the love of the world. How is it today with Christianity? Have you ever tried to speak spiritual things with Christians? What was the reaction?  If you talk to a Christian been a Muslim or an atheist, a Buddhist or even one practicing magic, they will tell you that it is not a problem and will start to explain that salvation is only in “Jesus”, like a magic formula you can be whatever you are if you proclaim the name “Jesus” and believe in this name you will be save, but if like you and me you come to a Christian and tell him about keeping Shabbat, rejecting pork eating, keeping יהוה’ Feast, you will be rebuke and stamped as Legalistic person who try to gain salvation by works!  Are Christians not proclaiming to be our brethren? Why then do they reject the Torah? Is it not the spirit of the Anti-Messiah?
What does Yochanan write?
1Jn 2:16 because all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world.  1Jn 2:17 and the world passes away, and the lust of it, but the one doing the desire of Elohim remains forever.
No doubt that Esau will not remain forever (read the Haftorah Obadiyahu)!
Today the spirit of humanism gives freedom to everybody to believe whatever they want as long it doesn’t disturb your neighbour’s belief e.g. in France you will find the Republic spirit it is a weird thing. “Esau”, that is Edom is today on the top of his arrogance in the world mixing with all kind of belief, making alliance with all nations to his own advantage, but keep oppressing his brother Ya’acov, Israel.
Gen 32:22 and he rose up that night and took his two wives, and his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford of Yabboq.  Gen 32:23 and he took them and sent them over the stream, and sent over what he had.
Gen 32:24 and Yaʽaqoḇ was left alone. and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.  Gen 32:25 and when He saw that He did not overcome him, He touched the socket of his hip. And the socket of Yaʽaqoḇ’s hip was dislocated as He wrestled with him.  Gen 32:26 and He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I am not letting You go until You have blessed me!”  Gen 32:27 so He asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Yaʽaqoḇ.”  Gen 32:28 and He said, “Your name is no longer called Yaʽaqoḇ, but Yisra’ĕl1, because you have striven with Elohim and with men, and have overcome.” Footnote: 1Yisra’ĕl means “to strive with Ěl, to overcome with Ěl, (then) to rule with Ěl”  Gen 32:29 and Yaʽaqoḇ asked Him, saying, “Please let me know Your Name.” And He said, “Why do you ask about My Name?” And He blessed him there.  Gen 32:30 and Yaʽaqoḇ called the name of the place Peni’ĕl, “For I have seen Elohim face to face, and my life is preserved.”  Gen 32:31 and the sun rose on him as he passed over Penu’ĕl, and he limped on his hip.  Gen 32:32 that is why the children of Yisra’ĕl to this day do not eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the socket of the thigh, because He touched the socket of the thigh of Yaʽaqoḇ, in the sinew of the hip.
Ya’acov met the messenger of יהוה and wrestle with him during the night! Darkness (night) is directly connected with the evil realm.
1Th 5:4 but you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.  1Th 5:5 for you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Ya’acov was fighting with a messenger of Elohim! Could it be that he was fighting with HaSatan, the adversary like it is believe in some circle?
Remember Ya’acov says I have seen Elohim (Mighty one) not יהוה!
Hoshea speaking concerning Ya’acov write:
Hos 12:3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his strength he strove with Elohim.  Hos 12:4 He strove with the Messenger and overcame1, he wept and sought His favour. He found Him in Bĕyth Ěl, and there He spoke to us.
The Hebrew word used in Hoshea is “Mal’ak” “messenger. In the “sod” (mystery), Ya’acov has spent the night fighting with himself, with his carnal nature in order to overcome and stand before Esau his brother. יהוה didn’t interact directly but let Ya’acov face his own nature, having already give Ya’acov the victory.
1Jn 5:4 for whatsoever is born of Elohim overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Ya’acov had to trust יהוה that he had heard his prayer, in order to be able to stand before Esau. Are you also standing before your “Esau” today and trust יהוה through יהושע Messiah to deliver you from the wickedness of your “brother’s” hatred?
Gen 33:1 and Yaʽaqoḇ lifted his eyes and looked and saw Ěsaw coming, and with him four hundred men, and he divided the children among Lĕ’ah, and Raḥĕl, and the two female servants.   Gen 33:2 and he put the female servants and their children in front, and Lĕ’ah and her children behind, and Raḥĕl and Yosĕph last. .........
We know that everything has its own meaning in the Torah. Why then does יהוה let us know that Rahel and Yoseph were last, the book of Yasher do not give any explanation, rather gives us more details concerning the meeting between Esau and his brother Ya’acov:
Yasher 54. and he passed before his children and wives to meet his brother, and he bowed down to the ground, yea he bowed down seven times until he approached his brother, and Elohim caused Jacob to find grace and favor in the sight of Esau and his men, for Elohim had heard the prayer of Jacob.(Psalm 91:14-15) 55. and the fear of Jacob and his terror fell upon his brother Esau, for Esau was greatly afraid of Jacob for what the messengers of Elohim had done to Esau, and Esau's anger against Jacob was turned into kindness. 56. and when Esau saw Jacob running toward him, he also ran toward him and he embraced him, and he fell upon his neck, and they kissed and they wept. 57. and Elohim put fear and kindness toward Jacob in the hearts of the men that came with Esau, and they also kissed Jacob and embraced him. 58. and also Eliphaz, the son of Esau, with his four brothers, sons of Esau, wept with Jacob, and they kissed him and embraced him, for the fear of Jacob had fallen upon them all.
Ya’acov stand before his family, he knew that there is no escape, but to trust יהוה Elohim of his father Itzak and Abraham. Do you see why is it important to teach Torah to our children, in order that they also know that Elohim is our refuge and our fortress in time of distress?    Ya’acov victory over his brother Esau can be divided in two parts:
●    First of all, the victory over the carnal nature, choosing to trust יהוה rather our own understanding (Proverbs Pro 3:5 Trust in יהוה with all your heart, and lean not on your own understandin.)
●    Secondly that the final fight before entering the Kingdom of Elohim, the promise Land will be against Esau (not alone) and that יהוה will care for Ya’acov and His Household, the assembly in יהושע.
Remember: 666 is the number of man the Greek word used in Revelation 13 is “anthropos” and just point to a certain man: could it be that it is “Esau”?
In the second century, Irenaeus a disciple of Polycarp, himself Yochanan’s disciple claim that the number was contained in the word “lateinos” thus pointing to the ecclesiastical system of the Roman Catholic Church, latin been the peculiarly language of the Church in Rome. Many other interpretations have been proposed, but Esau, today is recognized to be Rome. Ya’acov was returning to the land of his father Abraham and Itzak after twenty years. Twenty could also been in the remez two thousand years (two days) before entering the promise land following יהושע who will deliver us from “Esau”.  Edomites today are everywhere; don’t think because you are somewhere in the Philippines, or in South America or in Europe or anywhere else, that this place is free from the spirit of Esau. Like we have seen with the prophet Yeshayahu speaking of Ya’acov and Israel, the Prophet Obediyahu speaks of Esau around 587 B.C.E saying : there shall not be (future) any remaining in the house of Esau” speaking to Edom (see the haftorah) .
Remember that Rahel was the last when Ya’acov divided his wives, concubines and children at Esau coming. The spiritual meaning is to be fund in the confrontation with Esau. Leah is the mother of Yehuda the southern Kingdom called the “House of Yehudah”, who was   already many times confronted with Esau, because not united with Yoseph also called the “house of Israel” The position of Rahel and Yoseph show us that the “House of Israel” will also be confronted with Esau in the last days.  This came because of the division between both houses into two groups (B’reshit 32:7). The number two is the number of division, not united, separation. But the time will come when Yehudah and Yoseph will be united again forever:
Eze 37:15 and the word of יהוה came to me, saying,  Eze 37:16 “And you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it, ‘For Yehuḏah and for the children of Yisra’ĕl, his companions.’ Then take another stick and write on it, ‘For Yosĕph, the stick of Ephrayim, and for all the house of Yisra’ĕl, his companions.’  Eze 37:17 “Then bring them together for yourself into one stick, and they shall become one in your hand. Eze 37:22 “And I shall make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Yisra’ĕl. And one sovereign shall be sovereign over them all, and let them no longer be two nations, and let them no longer be divided into two reigns.
If we read carefully at this time Benjamim, Yoseph brother is not yet born. There is also a spiritual meaning which will be expounded in another Parsha later when we see the reunification between Yoseph and his brethren in Egypt.
The final point to confirm the last confrontation between Esau and his brother Ya’acov in the last days is found in the verse 17:” And Yaʽaqoḇ set out to Sukkoth, and built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. That is why the name of the place is called Sukkoth”  .
We know that the feats of Sukkoth is in the seventh month of יהוה’s feats (Vaiyqrah Lev 23:34 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the Festival of Booths for seven days to יהוה.’
That is Sukkoth the Feast of the booth, when the final gathering of יהוה’s people will take place to enter the Millennium.
Gen 33:3 and he himself passed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.  Gen 33:4 and Ěsaw ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.  Gen 33:5 and he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?” And he said, “The children with whom Elohim has favoured your servant.”  Gen 33:6 then the female servants came near, they and their children, and bowed themselves.  Gen 33:7 and Lĕ’ah also came near with her children, and they bowed themselves. and Yosĕph and Raḥĕl came near, and they bowed themselves.  Gen 33:8 Then Ěsaw said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” And he said, “To find favour in the eyes of my master.”  Gen 33:9 But Ěsaw said, “I have enough, my brother, let what you have remain yours.”  Gen 33:10 and Yaʽaqoḇ said, “No, please, if I have now found favour in your eyes, then receive my present from my hand, because I have seen your face like seeing the face of Elohim, and you were pleased with me.  Gen 33:11 “Please, take my blessing that is brought to you, because Elohim has favoured me, and because I have all I need.” And he urged him, and he took it.  Gen 33:12 and he said, “Let us depart and go, and let me go before you.”
Gen 33:13 but he said to him, “My master knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flocks shall die.  Gen 33:14 “Please let my master go before his servant and let me lead on slowly according to the pace of the livestock that go before me, and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my master in Sĕʽir.”  Gen 33:15 And Ěsaw said, “Please let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “Why this? Let me find favour in the eyes of my master.”
Gen 33:16 and Ěsaw returned that day on his way to Sĕʽir.  Gen 33:17 and Yaʽaqoḇ set out to Sukkoth, and built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. That is why the name of the place is called Sukkoth.  Gen 33:18 and Yaʽaqoḇ came safely to the city of Sheḵem, which is in the land of Kenaʽan, when he came from Paddan Aram. And he pitched his tent before the city.  Gen 33:19 and he bought the portion of the field where he had pitched his tent, from the children of Ḥamor, Sheḵem’s father, for one hundred qesitah.   Gen 33:20 and he set up an altar there and called it Ěl Elohĕ Yisra’ĕl. ......... Once again the book of Yasher is a good help to understand Esau’s attitude toward Ya’acov, because the Torah doesn’t make mention of יהוה’ messengers coming before Esau to make him change his mind, thus making many scholars speculate on Esau’s behavior.  The chapter 34 deals with Dinah the daughter of Ya’acov, the daughter of Leah. Once again the P’shat level reveals what happened to Dinah and how her brothers Simeon and Levi reacted toward Shechem and the Canaanites. We are going to try to dig in the “sod” to see the relation with the End days we are living now. But also again, in the book of Yasher to see the full situation and literal understanding.
First let us look at the Hebrew meaning of the word “Dinah”
Strong’s # H1783 דּינה dîynâh    Feminine of H1779; justice; Dinah, the daughter of Jacob: - Dinah. BDB Definition:  Dinah = “judgment” 1) Daughter of Jacob by Leah, full sister of Simeon and Levi  H 1779 dîyn  dûn  deen, doon  From H1777; judgment (the suit, justice, sentence or tribunal); by implication also strife: - cause, judgment, plea, strife............
We see that this word contain also the sense of “sentence or tribunal”. With this in mind we are going to see what will happen in the last days with the spiritual “Canaanites”.  Zec 14:21 yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto YHWH Sebatoth: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of YHWH Sebaoth.
In order to understand we shall go back to the sons of Noach in the book of B’reshit:  Gen 9:22 And Ḥam, the father of Kenaʽan (Canaan), saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outsideGen 9:25 and he said, “Cursed is Kenaʽan, let him become a servant of servants to his brothers.” .......
Canaan was the son of Ham also known as Mitzrayim or Egypt. The Canaanites were wicked people, idolaters and immoral as we are going to see in the chapter with Dinah. Dinah represents the descendants of Leah which is the “House of Yehudah” scattered among the idolaters of the world. These idolaters will try to intermingle with the sons of Ya’acov and will reap destruction.  The first approach in the Torah shows the lineage of Shechem and his father Hamor the Hivites
Gen 10:15 And Kenaʽan brought forth Tsiḏon his first-born, and Ḥĕth,  Gen 10:16 and the Yeḇusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,  Gen 10:17 and the Ḥiwwite, and the Arqite, and the Sinite, ………
We go now to the book of Yasher to get more inside about Shechem and the true nature of the Canaanites. Ya’acov was willing to live with all men in peace. יהושע came to reconcile the all world unto the Elohim of the all earth (1st Yochanan 2:2)
Yasher chapter 32;   ●The “House of Yehuda”, Leah, and the “House of Israel” Rahel among the idolaters in the world 5. at that time some of the women of the inhabitants of the land went to the city of Shechem to dance and rejoice with the daughters of the people of the city, and when they went forth then Rachel and Leah the wives of Jacob with their families also went to behold the rejoicing of the daughters of the city. 6. and Dinah the daughter of Jacob also went along with them and saw the daughters of the city, and they remained there before these daughters whilst all the people of the city were standing by them to behold their rejoicings, and all the great people of the city were there……. Gen 34:1 and Dinah, the daughter of Lĕ’ah, whom she had borne to Yaʽaqoḇ, went out to see the daughters of the land.  Gen 34:2 and Sheḵem, son of Ḥamor the Ḥiwwite, prince of the land, saw her and took her and lay with her, and humbled her.  Gen 34:3 and his being clung to Dinah the daughter of Yaʽaqoḇ, and he loved the girl and spoke kindly to the girl. .......We found more details in the meaning of the name Shechem:
Strong’s # H 7928 שׁכם shekem sheh'-kem, written shin, Qof, mem.  From H7926; Shekem, the name of a Hivite and two Israelites: - Shechem.  H7926: shek-em'  From H7925; the neck (between the shoulders) as the place of burdens; figuratively the spur of a hill: - back, X consent, portion, shoulder.  H 7925 shâkam shaw-kam' ....
A primitive root; properly to incline (the shoulder to a burden); but used only as denominative from H7926; literally to load up (on the back of man or beast), that is, to start early in the morning: - (arise, be up, get [oneself] up, rise up) early (betimes), morning.
By reading the meaning we could say that Shechem will lay a burden on Dinah by extension in the spiritual way, to Leah, the “House of Yehudah”. Only if we can understand the character of the Hivites descendants of Canaan will we be able to see more and understand the “burden” of Dinah, “House of Yehudah”. First of all we see verse 2 that Shechem took first Dinah and abused her before asking his father to give him this woman for wife! This is already opposite to Abraham’s descendants who followed the will of their fathers concerning marriage as we have learned with Itzak and Ya’acov.
Gen 34:4 and Sheḵem spoke to his father Ḥamor, saying, “Take this girl for me for a wife.”  Gen 34:5 and Yaʽaqoḇ heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field, so Yaʽaqoḇ kept silent until they came.
Yasher 32:
12. and they came and told the thing unto Jacob, and when Jacob heard that Shechem had defiled his daughter Dinah, Jacob sent twelve of his servants to fetch Dinah from the house of Shechem, and they went and came to the house of Shechem to take away Dinah from there. 13. and when they came Shechem went out to them with his men and drove them from his house, and he would not suffer them to come before Dinah, but Shechem was sitting with Dinah kissing and embracing her before their eyes. 14. and the servants of Jacob came back and told him, saying, When we came, he and his
men drove us away, and thus did Shechem do unto Dinah before our eyes. 15. and Jacob knew moreover that Shechem had defiled his daughter, but he said nothing, and his sons were feeding his cattle in the field, and Jacob remained silent till their
return. ..........
Have you ever seen what is going on in Europe and US today spreading all over the world like gangrene concerning the young generation? They kiss and embrace in the street, in the train, everywhere without any shame. T.V propose games based on immorality like Virgin TV, or in France NRJ TV where young boys and girls act almost naked wearing only the minimal accessories, boys having shaved their bodies, girls making display of their breast in a shameful way (smallest bikini)!......
Gen 34:6 and Ḥamor, the father of Sheḵem, went out to Yaʽaqoḇ to speak with him.
Gen 34:7 and the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ came in from the field when they heard it. And the men were grieved and very wroth, because he had done a senseless deed in Yisra’ĕl by lying with Yaʽaqoḇ’s daughter, which should not be done.
Gen 34:8 but Ḥamor spoke with them, saying, “My son Sheḵem’s being longs for your daughter. Please give her to him for a wife.  Gen 34:9 “And intermarry with us, give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves,  Gen 34:10 and dwell with us, and let the land be before you. Dwell and move about in it, and have possessions in it.”  Gen 34:11 and Sheḵem said to her father and her brothers, “Let me find favour in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I give.
Gen 34:12 “Ask of me a bride price and gift ever so high, and I give according to what you say to me, but give me the girl for a wife.”  Gen 34:13 but the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ answered Sheḵem and Ḥamor his father, and spoke with deceit, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.  Gen 34:14 and they said to them, “We are not able to do this matter, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.  Gen 34:15 “Only on this condition would we agree to you: If you become as we are, to have every male of you circumcised,  Gen 34:16 then we shall give our daughters to you, and take your daughters to us. And we shall dwell with you, and shall become one people.  Gen 34:17 “But if you do not listen to us and be circumcised, we shall take our daughter and go.”  Gen 34:18 and their words pleased Ḥamor and Sheḵem, Ḥamor’s son.  ........Yasher 33:  42. But he(Ya’acov) spoke unto us, saying, Thus did Abraham his father command him from Elohim YHWH of the whole earth, that any man who is not of his descendants that should wish to take one of his daughters, shall cause every male belonging to him to be circumcised, as we are circumcised, and then we may give him our daughter for a wife.........
Ya’acov’ sons required that they should circumcise in order to be accepted. Let us see what the book of Yasher tells us concerning Shechem “the burden” and all the Hivite. Once again we will see that the Torah pre-existed Moshe and that Ya’acov’s children didn’t acted because of hatred, but because of righteousness. We also should hate wickedness unfortunately many among us cannot even discern because Torah is lacking in their life......
Yasher 33:  21. and they came and sat before their father and they spoke unto him kindled with wrath, saying, Surely death is due to this man and to his household, because YHWH Elohim of the whole earth  commanded Noah and his children that man shall never rob, nor commit adultery; now behold Shechem has both ravaged and committed fornication with our sister, and not one of all the people of the city spoke a word to him.
22. Surely thou knowest and understandest that the judgment(Dinah) of death is due to Shechem, and to his father, and to the whole city on account of the thing which he has done. By approaching and abusing Dinah the burden (Schechem) will be death for the Hivites
Gen 34:19 and the young man did not delay to do this because he delighted in Yaʽaqoḇ’s daughter. Now he was more respected than all the household of his father.  Gen 34:20 and Ḥamor and Sheḵem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying,  Gen 34:21 “These men are at peace with us, so let them dwell in the land and move about in it. And see, the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters for us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.
Canaanites are deceivers. It is good to understand that the spirit of Canaanites is a spirit of deception, and will not submit to the Torah. The appearance sometime hides the intention of the heart. Canaan was the son of Ham, the son of Noach who reveal the nakedness of his father Noah to his brothers Shem and Japheth and was cursed by his father. We have seen in the parsha Noach that this curse is still among some groups of people servant of servants.to his brethren.(B'reshit 9:24-27)
Yasher 34:  2. But Chiddekem, son of Pered, the father of Hamor, and his six brothers, would not listen unto Shechem and his father Hamor, and they would not be circumcised, for the proposal of the sons of Jacob was loathsome in their sight, and their anger was greatly roused at this, that the people of the city had not hearkened to them. 3. and in the evening of the second day, they found eight small children who had not been circumcised, for their mothers had concealed them from Shechem and his father Hamor, and from the men of the city. 4. and Shechem and his father Hamor sent to have them brought before them to be circumcised, when Chiddekem and his six brothers sprang at them with their swords, and sought to slay them. 5. and they sought to slay also Shechem and his father Hamor and they sought to slay Dinah with them on account of this matter. 6. and they said unto them, What is this thing that you have done? are there no women amongst the daughters of your brethren the Canaanites, that you wish to take unto yourselves daughters of the Hebrews, whom ye knew not before, and will do this act which your fathers never commanded you?
7. Do you imagine that you will succeed through this act which you have done? and what will you answer in this affair to your brethren the Canaanites, who will come tomorrow and ask you concerning this thing? 8. and if your act shall not appear just and good in their sight, what will you do for your lives, and me for our lives, in your not having hearkened to our voices? 9. and if the inhabitants of the land and all your brethren the children of Ham (Noach’s  third son), shall hear of your act, saying, 10. On account of a Hebrew woman did Shechem and Hamor his father, and all the inhabitants of their city, do that with which they had been unacquainted and which their ancestors never commanded them, where then will you fly or where conceal your shame, all your days before your brethren, the inhabitants of the land of Canaan? 11. Now therefore we cannot bear up against this thing which you have done, neither can we be burdened with this yoke upon us, which our ancestors did not command us. 12. Behold tomorrow we will go and assemble all our brethren, the Canaanitish brethren who dwell in the land, and we will all come and smite you and all those who trust in you, that there shall not be a remnant left from you or them. 13. and when Hamor and his son Shechem and all the people of the city heard the words of Chiddekem and his brothers, they were terribly afraid of their lives at their words, and they repented of what they had done. 14. and Shechem and his father Hamor answered their father Chiddekem and his brethren, and they said unto them, All the words which you spoke unto us are true. 15. Now do not say, nor imagine in your hearts that on account of the love of the Hebrews we did this thing that our ancestors did not command us.
16. But because we saw that it was not their intention and desire to accede to our wishes concerning their daughter as to our taking her, except on this condition, so we hearkened to their voices and did this act which you saw, in order to obtain our desire from them. 17. and when we shall have obtained our request from them, we will then return to them and do unto them that which you say unto us. 18. We beseech you then to wait and tarry until our flesh shall be healed and we again become strong, and we will then go together against them, and do unto them that which is in your hearts and in ours. 19. and Dinah the daughter of Jacob heard all these words which Chiddekem and his brothers had spoken, and what Hamor and his son Shechem and the people of their city had answered them. 20. and she hastened and sent one of her maidens, that her father had sent to take care of her in the house of Shechem, to Jacob her father and to her brethren, saying: 21. Thus did Chiddekem and his brothers advise concerning you, and thus did Hamor and Shechem and the people of the city answer them. 22. and when Jacob heard these words he was filled with wrath, and he was indignant at them, and his anger was kindled against them. 23. and Simeon and Levi swore and said, As the YHWH liveth, Elohim of the whole earth, by this time tomorrow, there shall not be a remnant left in the whole city.
24. and twenty young men had concealed themselves who were not circumcised, and these young men fought against Simeon and Levi, and Simeon and Levi killed eighteen of them, and two fled from them and escaped to some lime pits that were in the city, and Simeon and Levi sought for them, but could not find them. 25. and Simeon and Levi continued to go about in the city, and they killed all the people of the city at the edge of the sword, and they left none remaining.
26. and there was a great consternation in the midst of the city, and the cry of the people of the city ascended to heaven, and all the women and children cried aloud. 27. and Simeon and Levi slew all the city; they left not a male remaining in the whole city. 28. and they slew Hamor and Shechem his son at the edge of the sword, and they brought away Dinah from the house of Shechem and they went from there. 29. and the sons of Jacob went and returned,
The Levites were those standing beside Moshe to purge the assembly after the sin of the Golden calf:
Exo 32:26 and Mosheh stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Who is for יהוה? Come to me.” And all the sons of Lĕwi gathered themselves to him.  Exo 32:27 and he said to them, “Thus said יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl: ‘Each one put his sword on his side, pass over to and fro from gate to gate in the camp, and each one slay his brother, and each one his friend, and each one his relative.’ ”   Exo 32:28 and the sons of Lĕwi did according to the word of Mosheh. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.
We have seen that the intention of the Canaanites was only to deceive Ya’acov and his family. Do you know Canaanites today? Have you ever seen people who have been circumcised but reject the Torah and prefer to follow the tradition of their fathers?.... Unless somebody turn fully to the Torah through יהושע Messiah, he cannot be called an Israelite, he is a deceiver who will bring burden to those who trust them. Canaanites have defiled the descendants of Dinah, the daughter of Ya’acov by mixing themselves to them, but following the traditions of their fathers.
Rom 2:28 for he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Rom 2:29 but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of YHWH……
Shaul didn’t denied circumcision, but bring a step further explaining that the circumcision must be of the heart, without nullifying the circumcision of the flesh. The circumcision of Abraham was commanded by יהוה and was the sign of a covenant. The circumcision given by Moshe became a "ma’asei" (work) under the Pharisee in יהושע’s time. ……..
Gen 34:22 “Only on this condition would the men agree to dwell with us, to be one people: if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised.  Gen 34:23 “Their herds and their possessions, and all their beasts, should they not be ours? Only let us agree with them, and let them dwell with us.”  Gen 34:24 and all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Ḥamor and Sheḵem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.  Gen 34:25 and it came to be on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ, Shimʽon and Lĕwi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.  Gen 34:26 and they killed Ḥamor and Sheḵem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Sheḵem’s house, and went out.  Gen 34:27 the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.  Gen 34:28 they took their flocks and their herds, and their donkeys, and that which was in the city and that which was in the field,
Gen 34:29 and all their wealth. And all their little ones and their wives they took captive, and they plundered all that was in the houses.  Gen 34:30 and Yaʽaqoḇ said to Shimʽon and Lĕwi, “You have troubled me by making me a stench among the inhabitants of the land, among the Kenaʽanites and the Perizzites. And I am few in number, they shall gather themselves against me and shall smite me, and I shall be destroyed, my household and I.”  Gen 34:31 but they said, “Should he treat our sister like a whore?”  .
Ya’acov was thinking that the peace will not be possible anymore because of what Simeon and Levi did to the Sons of Hamor the Hivites.
Do you remember what יהוה told Abraham:
Gen 12:3 “And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And in you all the clans of the earth shall be blessed.”.........
Now let see what happen with the Canaanites and the Perizzites who wanted to avenge themselves on Ya’acov:
Yasher 34: :34. and Simeon and Levi and all their brothers with them answered their father Jacob and said unto him, Behold we live in the land, and shall Shechem do this to our sister? Why art thou silent at all that Shechem has done? and shall he deal with our sister as with a harlot in the streets? 35. and the number of women whom Simeon and Levi took captives from the city of Shechem, whom they did not slay, was eighty-five who had not known man.
36. and amongst them was a young damsel of beautiful appearance and well favored, whose name was Bunah, and Simeon took her for a wife, and the number of the males which they took captives and did not slay, was forty-seven men, and the rest they slew 39. and these men left the city and went to the city of Tapnach, and they came there and told the inhabitants of Tapnach all that had befallen them, and all that the sons of Jacob had done to the city of Shechem. 40. and the information reached Jashub king of Tapnach, and he sent men to the city of Shechem to see those young men, for the king did not believe them in this account, saying, How could two men lay waste such a large town as Shechem? 41. and the messengers of Jashub came back and told him, saying, We came unto the city, and it is destroyed, there is not a man there; only weeping women; neither is any flock or cattle there, for all that was in the city the sons of Jacob took away. 42. and Jashub wondered at this, saying, How could two men do this thing, to destroy so large a city, and not one man able to stand against them?
43. for the like has not been from the days of Nimrod, and not even from the remotest time, has the like taken place; and Jashub, king of Tapnach, said to his people, Be courageous and we will go and fight against these Hebrews, and do unto them as they did unto the city, and we will avenge the cause of the people of the city. 44. and Jashub, king of Tapnach, consulted with his counsellors about this matter, and his advisers said unto him, Alone thou wilt not prevail over the Hebrews, for they must be powerful to do this work to the whole city. 45. If two of them laid waste the whole city, and no one stood against them, surely if thou wilt go against them, they will all rise against us and destroy us likewise. 46. but if thou wilt send to all the kings that surround us, and let them come together, then we will go with them and fight against the sons of Jacob; then wilt thou prevail against them. 47. and Jashub heard the words of his counsellors, and their words pleased him and his people, and he did so; and Jashub king of Tapnach sent to all the kings of the Amorites that surrounded Shechem and Tapnach, saying, 48. Go up with me and assist me, and we will smite Jacob the Hebrew and all his sons, and destroy them from the earth, for thus did he do to the city of Shechem, and do you not know of it? 49. and all the kings of the Amorites heard the evil that the sons of Jacob had done to the city of Shechem, and they were greatly astonished at them.50. and the seven kings of the Amorites assembled with all their armies, about ten thousand men with drawn swords, and they came to fight against the sons of Jacob; and Jacob heard that the kings of the Amorites had assembled to fight against his sons, and Jacob was greatly afraid, and it distressed him. 51. and Jacob exclaimed against Simeon and Levi, saying, What is this act that you did? why have you injured me, to bring against me all the children of Canaan to destroy me and my household? for I was at rest, even I and my household, and you have done this thing to me, and provoked the inhabitants of the land against me by your proceedings. 52. and Judah answered his father, saying, Was it for naught my brothers Simeon and Levi killed all the inhabitants of Shechem? Surely it was because Shechem had humbled our sister, and transgressed the command of our Elohim to Noah and his children, for Shechem took our sister away by force, and committed adultery with her. 53. and Shechem did all this evil and not one of the inhabitants of his city interfered with him, to say, Why wilt thou do this? surely for this my brothers went and smote the city, and YHWH delivered it into their hands, because its inhabitants had transgressed the commands of our Elohim. Is it then for naught that they have done all this? 54. and now why art thou afraid or distressed, and why art thou displeased at my brothers, and why is thine anger kindled against them? 55. Surely our Elohim who delivered into their hand the city of Shechem and its people, he will also deliver into our hands all the Canaanitish kings who are coming against us, and we will do unto them as my brothers did unto Shechem. 56. Now be tranquil about them and cast away thy fears, but trust in YHWH our Elohim, and pray unto him to assist us and deliver us, and deliver our enemies into our hands. 57. and Judah called to one of his father's servants, Go now and see where those kings, who are coming against us, are situated with their armies. 58. and the servant went and looked far off, and went up opposite Mount Sihon, and saw
all the camps of the kings standing in the fields, and he returned to Judah and said, Behold the kings are situated in the field with all their camps, a people exceedingly numerous, like unto the sand upon the sea shore. 59. and Judah said unto Simeon and Levi, and unto all his brothers, Strengthen yourselves and be sons of valuor, for YHWH Elohim is with us, do not fear them. 60. Stand forth each man, girt with his weapons of war, his bow and his sword, and we will go and fight against these uncircumcised men; YHWH Elohim, He will save us. 61. and they rose up, and each girt on his weapons of war, great and small, eleven sons of Jacob, and all the servants of Jacob with them. 62. and all the servants of Isaac who were with Isaac in Hebron, all came to them equipped in all sorts of war instruments, and the sons of Jacob and their servants, being one hundred and twelve men, went towards these kings, and Jacob also went with them. 63. and the sons of Jacob sent unto their father Isaac the son of Abraham to Hebron, the same is Kireath-arba, saying, 64. Pray we beseech thee for us unto YHWH Elohim, to protect us from the hands of the Canaanites who are coming against us, and to deliver them into our hands. 65. And Isaac the son of Abraham prayed unto YHWH for his sons, and he said, O YHWH Elohim, thou didst promise my father, saying, I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and thou didst also promise me, and establish thou thy word, now that the kings of Canaan are coming together, to make war with my children because they committed no violence.
66. Now therefore, YHWH Elohim, Elohim of the whole earth, pervert, I pray thee, the counsel of these kings that they may not fight against my sons.
67. And impress the hearts of these kings and their people with the terror of my sons and
bring down their pride, and that they may turn away from my sons.
68. and with thy strong hand and outstretched arm deliver my sons and their servants from
them, for power and might are in thy hands to do all this.
69. and the sons of Jacob and their servants went toward these kings, and they trusted in
YHWH Elohim, and whilst they were going, Jacob their father also prayed unto YHWH and said, O YHWH Elohim, powerful and exalted Elohim, who has reigned from days of
old, from thence till now and forever;
70. Thou art He who stirreth up wars and causeth them to cease, in thy hand are power and might to exalt and to bring down; O may my prayer be acceptable before thee that thou
mayest turn to me with thy mercies, to impress the hearts of these kings and their people
with the terror of my sons, and terrify them and their camps, and with thy great kindness
deliver all those that trust in thee, for it is thou who canst bring people under us and reduce nations under our power.
Jasher Chapter 35 1. and all the kings of the Amorites came and took their stand in the field to consult with their counsellors what was to be done with the sons of Jacob, for they were still afraid of them, saying, Behold, two of them slew the whole of the city of Shechem. 2. and YHWH heard the prayers of Isaac and Jacob, and he filled the hearts of all these kings' advisers with great fear and terror that they unanimously exclaimed, 3. are you silly this day, or is there no understanding in you, that you will fight with the Hebrews, and why will you take a delight in your own destruction this day? 4. behold two of them came to the city of Shechem without fear or terror, and they killed all the inhabitants of the city, that no man stood up against them, and how will you be able to fight with them all? 5. Surely you know that their Elohim is exceedingly fond of them, and has done mighty things for them, such as have not been done from days of old, and amongst all the gods of nations, there is none can do like unto his mighty deeds. 6. Surely he delivered their father Abraham, the Hebrew, from the hand of Nimrod, and from the hand of all his people who had many times sought to slay him. 7. He delivered him also from the fire in which king Nimrod had cast him, and his Elohim delivered him from it. 8. and who else can do the like? surely it was Abraham who slew the five kings of Elam, when they had touched his brother's son (Lot) who in those days dwelt in Sodom. 9. and took his servant that was faithful in his house and a few of his men, and theypursued the kings of Elam in one night and killed them, and restored to his brother's son all his property which they had taken from him. 10. and surely you know the Elohim of these Hebrews is much delighted with them, and they are also delighted with him, for they know that he delivered them from all their enemies.14. and behold, we ourselves saw with our eyes that Esau, the brother of Jacob, came to him with four hundred men, with the intention of slaying him, for he called to mind that he had taken away from him his father's blessing.
15. and he went to meet him when he came from Syria, to smite the mother with the children, and who delivered him from his hands but his Elohim whom he trusted? He delivered him from the hand of his brother and also from the hands of his enemies, and surely he again will protect them. 16. Who does not know that it was their Elohim who inspired them with strength to do to the town of Shechem the evil which you heard of? 17. Could it then be with their own strength that two men could destroy such a large city as Shechem had it not been for their God in whom they trusted? he said and did unto them
all this to slay the inhabitants of the city in their city. 18. and can you then prevail over them who have come forth together from your city to fight with the whole of them, even if a thousand times as many more should come to your assistance?
19. Surely you know and understand that you do not come to fight with them, but you come to war with their God who made choice of them, and you have therefore all come this day to be destroyed. 20. Now therefore refrain from this evil which you are endeavouring to bring upon yourselves, and it will be better for you not to go to battle with them, although they are
but few in numbers, because their God is with them. 21. and when the kings of the Amorites heard all the words of their advisers, their hearts were filled with terror, and they were afraid of the sons of Jacob and would not fight against them.
22. and they inclined their ears to the words of their advisers, and they listened to all their words, and the words of the counsellors greatly pleased the kings, and they did so. 23. and the kings turned and refrained from the sons of Jacob, for they durst not approach them to make war with them, for they were greatly afraid of them, and their hearts melted within them from their fear of them. 24. for this proceeded from YHWH to them, for he heard the prayers of his servants Isaac
and Jacob, for they trusted in him; and all these kings returned with their camps on that day, each to his own city, and they did not at that time fight with the sons of Jacob. 25. and the sons of Jacob kept their station that day till evening opposite mount Sihon, and seeing that these kings did not come to fight against them, the sons of Jacob returned home.
“For this proceeded from יהוה to them for he heard the prayers, for they trusted in him”........; Can you see what the book of Yasher explains? יהוה delivered  them because they trusted in him. Here is the key: Pray and trust יהוה to fulfil what we pray for. .....
1Jn 5:14 and this is the boldness that we have in Him, that if we ask whatever according to His desire, He hears us.
1Jn 5:15 and if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Joh 15:7 “If you stay in Me, and My Words stay in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.
Chapter 35 Ya’acov will ask to his household to put away the foreign mighty ones and cleanse themselves and change their garments. I am pretty sure that like me you have read this verse many times without finding the connection to us today! It is amazing and so clear that when you see it, you will understand Sha'ul speaking to believers. Who is the household of Ya’acov, is it not the Assembly? Who came to reign over the Assembly, the household of Israel? Is it not יהושע?
Who stole the gods from Laban? Was it not Rachel (Gen 31:19 and when Laḇan had gone to shear his sheep, Raḥĕl stole the house idols that were her father’s.) ...
Is not Rachel the one giving birth to the “House of Israel”? Is not the House of Israel who will fall into idolatry, and will be scattered in the four corners of the earth? Remember TORAH means: Instruction, or how to live a righteous life......
1Ki 12:28  Whereupon the king( Yarobam) took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy Elohim, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.  1Ki 12:29 and he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. ......
Yarobam (Jeroboam) was king of the northern Kingdom, also called the House of Israel or Ephraim. Here we can see that יהוה says that from Rachel will come those who will follow other mighty ones and will be in trouble (they were hidden in the camel saddle, the camel been a picture of life’s tribulations, been an animal who is chosen to walk many days in the wilderness (desert) without drinking water.
Ya’acov a picture of Messiah tells his Household to remove the foreign mighty ones and to cleanse themselves. We see here a clear picture pointing to us today. How to put on the garment of righteousness, by removing every idols from our life and been washed by the word, through the blood of יהושע Messiah.
Jas 5:2 Your riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten.....
Rev 3:4 “Nevertheless, you have a few names in Sardis who have not defiled their garments. And they shall walk with Me in white, because they are worthy. Rev 16:15 “See, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who is staying awake and guarding his garments, lest he walks naked and they see his shame.”

Rev 19:8 and to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness of the set-apart ones.
Gen 35:1 and Elohim said to Yaʽaqoḇ, “Arise, go up to Bĕyth Ěl and dwell there. And make an altar there to Ěl who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Ěsaw your brother.”  Gen 35:2 and Yaʽaqoḇ said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign mighty ones that are among you, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments.  Gen 35:3 “And let us arise and go up to Bĕyth Ěl, and let me make there an altar to Ěl, who answered me in the day of my distress, and has been with me in the way which I have gone.”
Gen 35:4 So they gave Yaʽaqoḇ all the foreign mighty ones which were in their hands, and all their earrings which were in their ears. And Yaʽaqoḇ hid them under the terebinth tree which was near Sheḵem.  Gen 35:5 and they departed, and the fear of Elohim was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ.
Gen 35:6 and Yaʽaqoḇ came to Luz, that is Bĕyth Ěl, which is in the land of Kenaʽan, he and all the people who were with him.  Gen 35:7 and he built there an altar and called the place El Bĕyth Ěl, because there Elohim appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.  Gen 35:8 and Deḇorah, Riḇqah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bĕyth Ěl under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called Allon Baḵuth.  Gen 35:9 and Elohim appeared to Yaʽaqoḇ again, when he came from Paddan Aram, and blessed him.  Gen 35:10 and Elohim said to him, “Your name is Yaʽaqoḇ, your name is no longer called Yaʽaqoḇ, but Yisra’ĕl is your name.” So He called his name Yisra’ĕl.  Gen 35:11 and Elohim said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai. Bear fruit and increase, a nation and a company of nations shall be from you, and sovereigns come from your body.  Gen 35:12 “And the land which I gave Aḇraham and Yitsḥaq I give to you. And to your seed after you I give this land.”
Ya’acov has now become Israel; יהוה has confirmed the covenant to him as he did to Itzahk and Abraham. Throughout the Tanahk, Ya’acov will be called “Ya’acov” or “Israel”. To understand we shall know that “Ya’acov represent the carnal nature and “Israel” the divine nature in heaven. .......
Gen 35:13 and Elohim went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him.  Gen 35:14 and Yaʽaqoḇ set up a standing column in the place where He had spoken with him, a monument of stone. And he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.  Gen 35:15 and Yaʽaqoḇ called the name of the place where Elohim spoke with him, Bĕyth Ěl.  Gen 35:16 Then they set out from Bĕyth Ěl. And it came to be, when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, that Raḥĕl began to give birth, and had great difficulty giving birth.  Gen 35:17 and it came to be, as she was having great difficulty giving birth, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for it is another son for you.”  Gen 35:18 and it came to be, as her life was going out – for she died – that she called his name Ben-Oni (son of my sorrow). But his father called him Binyamin (son of my right hand).
Yasher 36: 8. and Jacob was a hundred years old when YHWH appeared unto him, and blessed him and called his name Israel, and Rachel the wife of Jacob conceived in those days. 9. and at that time Jacob and all belonging to him journeyed from Bethel to go to his father's house, to Hebron. 10. and whilst they were going on the road, and there was yet but a little way to come to Ephrath, Rachel bare a son and she had hard labour and she died.
11. and Jacob buried her in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem, and he set a pillar upon her grave, which is there unto this day; and the days of Rachel were forty-five years and she died.
What can we see in Rahel’s life? She died with forty five. Fifty would be the divine number for 5x10 or Five for the Torah and Ten for the sum of all number. Could we see that Rahel spiritually was not “matured” she was not yet fully converted! Could this be also a sign for the “House of Israel” for immaturity? Another aspect is with the gemetria, 45 = 9x5. Nine be the number for judgment and 5 the number for Torah. Could it be that Elohim was pointing to the Judgment that would come to the House of Israel, the descendants of Yoseph?
Gen 35:19 so Raḥĕl died and was buried on the way to Ephrath, that is Bĕyth Leḥem.  Gen 35:20 and Yaʽaqoḇ set a standing column on her grave, which is the monument of Raḥĕl’s grave to this day.  Gen 35:21 and Yisra’ĕl set out and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Ěḏer.  Gen 35:22 and it came to be, when Yisra’ĕl dwelt in that land, that Re’uḇĕn went and lays with Bilhah his father’s concubine. And Yisra’ĕl heard about it. Now the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ were twelve:
Gen 35:23 the sons of Lĕ’ah were Re’uḇĕn, Yaʽaqoḇ’s first-born, and Shimʽon, and Lĕwi, and Yehuḏah, and Yissasḵar, and Zeḇulun;  Gen 35:24 the sons of Raḥĕl were Yosĕph and Binyamin;  Gen 35:25 the sons of Bilhah, Raḥĕl’s female servant, were Dan and Naphtali;  Gen 35:26 and the sons of Zilpah, Lĕ’ah’s female servant, were Gaḏ and Ashĕr. These were the sons of Yaʽaqoḇ who were born to him in Paddan Aram.  Gen 35:27 and Yaʽaqoḇ came to his father Yitsḥaq at Mamrĕ, or Qiryath Arba, that is Ḥeḇron, where Aḇraham and Yitsḥaq had dwelt.  Gen 35:28 and the days of Yitsḥaq were one hundred and eighty years.  Gen 35:29 So Yitsḥaq breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people, aged and satisfied of days. And his sons Ěsaw and Yaʽaqoḇ buried him. ....... Here again in the life span from Yitshaq we can see something: one hundred and eighty years! This is the number 6 x 30, because it is written “aged” and “satisfied of days”. Six is the number of man and these thirty times or in others words, Yitshaq had a full life as man on earth, because he served יהוה Elohim with all his heart. ...
Gen 36:1 and this is the genealogy of Ěsaw, who is Eḏom.  Gen 36:2 Ěsaw took his wives from the daughters of Kenaʽan: Aḏah the daughter of Ělon the Ḥittite, and Oholiḇamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tsiḇʽon the Ḥiwwite;  Gen 36:3 and Basemath, Yishmaʽĕl’s daughter, sister of Neḇayoth.  Gen 36:4 and Aḏah bore Eliphaz to Ěsaw, and Basemath bore Reʽuw’ĕl.  Gen 36:5 and Oholiḇamah bore Yeʽush, and Yaʽlam, and Qoraḥ. These were the sons of Ěsaw who were born to him in the land of Kenaʽan. They were the sons of Aḏah.  Gen 36:17 and these were the sons of Reʽuw’ĕl, Ěsaw’s son: Chief Naḥath, Chief Zeraḥ, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Reʽuw’ĕl in the land of Eḏom. These were the sons of Basemath, Ěsaw’s wife.  Gen 36:18 and these were the sons of Oholiḇamah, Ěsaw’s wife: Chief Yeʽush, Chief Yaʽlam, and Chief Qoraḥ. These were the chiefs descending from Oholiḇamah, Ěsaw’s wife, the daughter of Anah.
Gen 36:19 These were the sons of Ěsaw, who is Eḏom, and these were their chiefs.  Gen 36:20 These were the sons of Sĕʽir the Ḥorite who inhabited the land: Lotan, and Shoḇal, and Tsiḇʽon, and Anah,  Gen 36:21 and Dishon, and Ětser, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Ḥorites, according to their chiefs in the land of Sĕʽir.  Gen 36:31 and these were the sovereigns who reigned in the land of Eḏom before any sovereign reigned over the children of Yisra’ĕl.  Gen 36:32 and Bela the son of Beʽor reigned in Eḏom, and the name of his city was Dinhaḇah.  Gen 36:33 and Bela died, and Yoḇaḇ son of Zeraḥ of Botsrah reigned in his place.  Gen 36:34 and Yoḇaḇ died, and Ḥusham of the land of the Tĕmanites reigned in his place.  Gen 36:35 and Ḥusham died, and Haḏaḏ son of Beḏaḏ, who smote Miḏyan in the field of Mo’aḇ, reigned in his place. Esau the Edomite. This statement is clear and without ambiguity Esau the man from Edom has given his name to a type of people walking after his steps. The Edomites verse 9 is a people either descendants from Esau the brother from Ya’acov. Edomites have certain knowledge of יהוה Elohim because of the traditions of their fathers. Their life style is according to the pleasure of the world, they are not interested with spiritual things, they have chosen the material world, and some of them are very successful and boast with pride about their abilities. Their heritage is in the world, they attach great value to material property and prosperity. Some of them are not able to reach this level and will suffer because in spite of not having attained prosperity they will still remain looking for the material world. In the time of יהושע we find Edomites ruling in Jerusalem
Haftorah
Keil and Delitsch make an interesting statement: -- The fact that it is the nations generally that are here summoned to make war upon Edom, and not only one nation in particular, points at once to the fact that Edom is regarded as a type of the power of the world, and its hostility to God, the destruction of which is here foretold.......
The prophet ObadYah speak the final judgment against Edom and gives us also the reason of the proclaimed judgment.  First of all יהוה verse 9 we read that even the “mighty men” will not save Edom, neither the “Mountains of Esau”. Remember “mountains” represent many times “power” or “governments”. It seems that the Judgment is called against Esau, because he never forsook his hatred against his brother Ya’acov. This is a spiritual attitude which still prevails today. They have despised to help Yehudah (Jews)in time of trouble.
Verse 15:” As you have done, it shall be done to you, your reward shall come back on your own head”.
Read what יהושע says: --- Mat 25:39 ‘and when did we see You sick, or in prison, and we came to You?’  Mat 25:40 “And the Sovereign shall answer and say to them, ‘Truly, I say to you, in so far as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me.’  Mat 25:41 “He shall then also say to those on the left hand, ‘Go away from Me, accursed ones, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his messengers –  Mat 25:42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink,  Mat 25:43 ‘I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, was naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’  Mat 25:44 “Then they also shall answer Him, saying, ‘Master, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not serve You?’  Mat 25:45 “Then He shall answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, in so far as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
Mat 25:46 “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.”
Oba 1:1 The vision of Oḇaḏyah: This is what the Master יהוה said concerning Eḏom. We have heard a report from יהוה, and a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle!” Oba 1:2 “See, I have made you small among the nations, you are greatly despised.  Oba 1:3 “The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is high, who say in your heart, ‘Who shall bring me down to the ground?’
Oba 1:4 “Though you rise high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I shall bring you down,” declares יהוה. Oba 1:5 “If thieves came to you, if robbers by night, how ruined you would have been! Would they not steal till they had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to you, would they not leave gleanings?  Oba 1:6 “How Ěsaw shall be searched out! His hidden treasures shall be sought out!  Oba 1:7 “All your allies shall send you forth to the border, your friends shall deceive you and overpower you. They make your bread a snare under you, without you discerning it!  Oba 1:8 “In that day,” declares יהוה, “I shall destroy the wise men from Eḏom, and discernment from the mountains of Ěsaw!  Oba 1:9 “And your mighty men shall be discouraged, O Tĕman (son of Eliphaz, son of Esau), so that everyone from the mountains of Ěsaw is cut off by slaughter. Oba 1:10 “Because of your violence against your brother Yaʽaqoḇ, let shame cover you. And you shall be cut off forever.  Oba 1:11 “In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers took captive his wealth, when foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Yerushalayim, you also were like one of them!  Oba 1:12 “And you should not have looked on your brother’s day in the day of his estrangement, nor rejoiced over the children of Yehuḏah in the day of their destruction, nor made your mouth great in the day of distress,  Oba 1:13 nor have entered the gate of My people in the day of their calamity, nor looked down on their evil in the day of their calamity, nor have seized their wealth in the day of their calamity,  Oba 1:14 nor have stood at the parting of the way to cut off his fugitives, nor handed over his survivors in the day of distress.
Oba 1:15 “For the day of יהוה is near upon all the gentiles( nations). As you have done, it shall be done to you, your reward shall come back on your own head.  Oba 1:16 “For as you have drunk on my set-apart mountain, so do all the gentiles drink continually. And they shall drink and shall swallow, and they shall be as though they had never been.  Oba 1:17 “But on Mount Tsiyon there shall be an escape1, and they shall be set-apart. And the house of Yaʽaqoḇ shall possess their possessions. Footnote: 1Isa. 4:2-3, Joel 2:32, Rev. 14:1. Oba 1:18 “And the house of Yaʽaqoḇ shall be a fire, and the house of Yosĕph a flame, but the house of Ěsaw for stubble. And they shall burn among them and they shall consume them, so that no survivor is left of the house of Ěsaw.” For יהוה has spoken.  Oba 1:19 and they shall possess the South with the mountains of Ěsaw, and low country with the Philistines. And they shall possess the fields of Ephrayim and the fields of Shomeron, and Binyamin with Gilʽaḏ,  Oba 1:20 and the exiles of this host of the children of Yisra’ĕl possess that of the Kenaʽanites as far as Tsarephath, and the exiles of Yerushalayim who are in Sepharaḏ possess the cities of the South.  Oba 1:21 and saviours shall come to Mount Tsiyon to judge the mountains of Ěsaw. And the reign shall belong to יהוה. Footnote: 1Ps. 2:8, Ps. 22:28, Dan. 2:44, Dan. 7:13-14 & 27, Zech. 14: 9, Rev. 11:15, Rev. 12:10……
Hoshea the prophet to Ephraim, the “House of Israel” those who have been called “you are not my people and now are called sons of the living Elohim”  יהוה plead with Ephraim through the mouth of Hoshea, to bring them back to him, He proclaims Ephraim arrogance and his miserable condition. Nevertheless יהוה says that he will not act like a man, because of his displeasure, but according to the promise…….
Hos 11:7 “My people are bent towards backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, He lifts none of them up.  Hos 11:8 “How could I give you up, Ephrayim? How could I hand you over, Yisra’ĕl? How could I make you like Aḏmah? How could I set you like Tseḇoyim? My heart turns within Me, all My compassion is kindled.  Hos 11:9 “I shall not let the heat of My wrath burn, I shall not turn to destroy Ephrayim. For I am Ěl, and not man, the Set-apart One in your midst, and I shall not come in enmity.  Hos 11:10 “Let them follow יהוה. Like a lion He roars. When He roars, then sons shall tremble from the west.
Hos 11:11 “They shall tremble like a bird from Mitsrayim, and like a dove from the land of Ashshur. And I shall let them dwell in their own houses,” declares יהוה.  Hos 11:12 “Ephrayim has surrounded Me with lying, and the house of Yisra’ĕl with deceit. But Yehuḏah is still wandering with Ěl, and is true to the Set-apart One.”  Hos 12:1 Ephrayim is feeding on wind, and pursuing an east wind. All the day he increases falsehood and ruin. And they make a covenant with Ashshur, and oil is sent to Mitsrayim.  Hos 12:2 and יהוה has a controversy with Yehuḏah, to punish Yaʽaqoḇ according to his ways, to repay him according to his deeds.  Hos 12:3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his strength he strove with Elohim.  Hos 12:4 He strove with the Messenger and overcame, he wept and sought His favour. He found Him in Bĕyth Ěl, and there He spoke to us  Hos 12:5 even יהוה Elohim of hosts, יהוה is His remembrance.  Hos 12:6 Therefore, return to your Elohim. Guard kindness and right-ruling, and wait on your Elohim continually.  Hos 12:7 a merchant! In his hand are scales of deceit, he loved to oppress.  Hos 12:8 and Ephrayim says, “Indeed, I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself. In all my labours they shall find in me no crookedness that is sin.”
We find יהושע speaking to Ephraim in the assembly of Laodicea (Rev.3:14-19). Laodicea was a city who had great wealth and the assembly has been built after יהושע departed to the Father and was compounded with those from the “House of Israel”. They received a strong warning from יהושע that is reflecting Hoshea words; ….
Rev 3:17 “Because you say, ‘Rich I am, and I am made rich, and need none at all,’ and do not know that you are wretched, and pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ....
Laodicea represent also the spiritual condition of many assemblies today who think of their “material blessing”, having less interest for their spiritual conditions; many today think that the “proof” of their righteousness is their “money”. I have even read in messianic assemblies some leaders saying that “not paying tithe” can bring curse!
Hos 12:9 “But I am יהוה your Elohim since the land of Mitsrayim, again I shall make you dwell in tents as in the days of the appointed time1. Footnote: 1Or festival.  Hos 12:10 “And I have spoken to the prophets, and have increased visions. And through the prophets I gave parables.”  Hos 12:11 Is Gilʽaḏ wicked? Certainly, they have been false! In Gilgal they have offered bulls. Also their altars are as heaps on a ploughed field.  Hos 12:12 and when Yaʽaqoḇ fled to the country of Aram, Yisra’ĕl served for a wife, and for a wife he kept watch.  Mat 26:36 Then יהושע came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the taught ones, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”  Mat 26:37 and He took with Him Kĕpha and the two sons of Zaḇdai, and He began to be grieved and deeply distressed.  Mat 26:38 Then He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”  Mat 26:39 and going forward a little, He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I desire, but as You desire.”  Mat 26:40 and He came to the taught ones and found them asleep, and said to Kĕpha, “So, were you not able to watch with Me one hour?  Mat 26:41 “Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.”  Mat 26:42 Again He went away, a second time, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is impossible for this to pass unless I drink it, let Your desire be done.” May יהוה bless you all in Messiah יהושע
