Parasha Toledo – Generations
B’reshit 25 :19-28 :9
Malachi 1 :1-2 :7, Romans 9 :6-13
The genealogy (toledo)
of Ytshaq: The Parasha begins with the genealogy. Let us see if we can learn
something concerning Ytshaq
genealogy. Brown, Driwer, Briggs give us following: תּלדה / תּולדה tôledâh BDB
Definition: 1) descendants, results, proceedings, generations, genealogies 1a) account
of men and their descendants 1a1)
genealogical list of one’s descendants 1a2)
one’s contemporaries 1a3) course of history (of creation etc) 1b) begetting or account of heaven
(metaphorically) Part of Speech:
noun feminine plural
A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s

Let us see what this Strong’s # 3205 means: ילד yâlad yaw-lad' A primitive root; to bear young;
causatively to beget; medically to act
as midwife; specifically to show lineage: - bear,
beget, birth ([-day]), born, (make to) bring
forth (children, young), bring up, calve, child, come, be delivered (of a
child), time of delivery, gender, hatch, labour, (do the office of a) midwife,
declare pedigrees, be the son of, (woman in, woman that) travail (-eth, -ing
woman).
So we could write: “and this is the account of Abraham
and his descendants whom he begat” This is written in the Torah so that the
following generation may know who their forefathers are. Even today we can
follow the generation by reading the Torah four thousand years later. I know that many today oppose the fact that
many believers are direct descendants from Abraham by the flesh. This doesn’t
make somebody better, but it is fact! To deny it, is to make יהוה to be a liar:
Gen 17:6 and I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and
I will make nations/Goyim (plural)
of thee, and kings (plural) shall come out of thee. Gen 17:7 and
I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations (plural) for an
everlasting covenant, to be an Elohim unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Everlasting: Strong’s
#H 5769 עולם ‛ôlâm o-lawm', From H5956;
properly concealed, that is, the vanishing
point; generally time out of
mind (past or future), that is, (practically) eternity; frequentative adverbially (especially with
prepositional prefix) always: - always (-s), ancient (time), any more,
continuance, eternal, (for, [n-]) ever
(-lasting, -more, of old), lasting, long (time), (of) old (time), perpetual, at
any time, (beginning of the) world (+
without end).
Compare H5331, H5703... There
is no doubt that יהוה promise to Abraham
was not limited to his generation but for an unlimited time, thus reaching to
our generations today and those after us. Many times when reading in our own
language (French, English, Tagalog, Spanish, German…..) we miss the deeper meaning.
It is good to search the word and have a concordance e.g. Strong or another, to
find out what Elohim really say. This
will remove errors and doctrine builds on sand.
Once again we will help ourselves with the Book of Yasher (book of the just) to see what is not written in the
Torah. Christian teachers and Pastors build their teaching on falsehood
following false spirits. In ten years I have spent among Christians I never had
one Pastor searching to establish
their teaching on the truth or fact, but had always “revelation from the L-rd”. In the beginning many times was I
speechless when the spoke, because I didn’t had anything to get proof of their
false revelations. Although mentioned in Yohushua 10:13 and 2nd Shamu’el
1:18 the Book of Yasher is ignored
by the “Jews” who prefer to build
their tales on traditional Judaism and by Christians for the same reason
building their own stories depending on what they want you to believe. It times
to restore the truth! It is amazing that
Christian Commentators like Keil and
Delitzsch, Barnes, Jamieson, Brown and Fausset, Adam Clarke and the ISBE (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) ignore information
concerning this book!
What is the reason for the book of Yasher (Sefer HaYasher) to be mentioned in 2nd
Shamu’el and the book of Yohushua,
let us read what the translator of Yasher
has to say: Accounts in the Bible can be made more lucid and easier to understand
with the background of Yasher in mind. The
next issue to investigate in regard to the authenticity of this book is the two
passages which mention the book by name. The first is Joshua 10.12-13: "... and he [Yoshua] said in the sight
of Israel , Sun, stand thou
still upon Gibeon ; and thou, moon, in the valley of Ajalon .
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until
the people avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is it not written in the book of Yasher?
So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a
whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that YHWH
hearkened to the voice of man: for YHWH fought for Israel ." And now compare it
with the following passage in Yasher
88.63-64: "...and Yoshua said in the sight of all the people, Sun,
stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou moon in the valley of Ajalon, until the
nation shall have revenged itself upon its enemies... And the sun stood still
in the midst of the heavens, and it stood still six and thirty moments, and the
moon also stood still and hastened not to go down a whole day. And there was no
day like that before it or after it, that YHWH hearkened to the voice of man,
for YHWH fought for Israel ." A comparison of the text preceding also shows
a high degree of correlation, indicating that much more than a couple of verses
was probably quoted by the Bible writer. A second mention of the Book of Yasher
occurs in II Samuel 1.17. In
contrast, this incident is not a direct quotation of a historical event from Yasher,
as is the case in Joshua. Yasher's narrative ends long before the time of
David. However, as part of his lamentation over the death of Saul and Jonathan,
David referred to a comment by Jacob that is quoted in the Book of Yasher. He
said: "Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: Behold it is written in the book of Yasher."
David is referring to the dying words of Jacob to Judah in Yasher 56:9, "...only teach thy
sons the use of the bow and all weapons of war, in order that they may fight
the battles of their brother who will rule over his enemies." This passage in the Bible has no reference to
anything in the Bible itself, but it is made clear from the passage in Yasher.
Finally
there is a record from the well know Jew historian Josephus who write: "by this book are to be understood
certain records kept in some safe place on purpose, giving an account of what
happened among the Hebrews from year to year, and called Yasher or the upright,
on account of the fidelity of the annals." It’s up to the reader to chose either to
follow the world tendency or to believe what the scriptures say, e.g the book of Yasher teaches us that Noach and Abraham were contemporary (lived at the same time although Noach
died before Abraham), that Abraham knew יהוה from his third year, that Shem
is Melkitzedek and many other
chronological events which are not mentioned in the Torah, the death of Nimrod,
the age when Ya’acov married Leah and Rachel can be easily calculated and many
other questions have their answer in this book. Yasher for example tells us that Ribqah was ten years old when she left her family following Eliezer, and has we have read already
that Itzahq was not the not the “sweet little boy” as it is taught in
the Christian circles when he was
brought as sacrifice to יהוה but was 37 seven years old and obedient to his father Abraham
and fully devoted to יהוה! Gen 25:19 and this is the genealogy (Toledo ) of Yitsḥaq, Aḇraham’s son. Aḇraham
brought forth Yitsḥaq. Gen 25:20
and Yitsḥaq was forty years old
when he took Riḇqah as wife, the daughter of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean of Paddan Aram , the
sister of Laḇan the Aramean. Yitshaq
was forty years old. We have seen many times already that the number forty is
the number for divine change for test and trials, as we can see what happen
with the children of Israel
in the wilderness. Yitshaq is not free
from trials, when he begets Ya’acov and Esau. Every generation has its own
trials and test. Bethu’el the Aramean: 'ărâm BDB Definition: Aram or Arameans = “exalted”

We see here that Bethu’El
was the fifth son of Shem (see chart
at the end of the Parasha), son of Noach (B’reshit 6:10). We are still in
the direct lineage of Noach, as Shem the teacher of righteousness was
still alive in Ya’acov days as we
will see.
Have you somebody whom you follow the teaching to help
you in your journey? Shem was teacher to
Abraham and also to Yitzhak and to Ya’acov as we are going to see.
Gen 10:22 The sons of Shĕm: Ěylam, and Asshur, and Arpaḵshaḏ,
and Luḏ, and Aram .
From Aram
came the Aramean or Syrian. It is amazing when we see today
the position of Syriah toward Israel! We remember that when Abraham sent his
servant Eliezer to take a bride for
his son, who in the “sod” is a picture of the Ruach HaQodesh going throughout the world looking for the bride of
Messiah. Ribqah leaved in a family
who were idolater. Ribqah (a picture
of the righteous assembly) left her family turning her back to idolatry to follow her husband she never met before. Have you ever wondered that you are
following the Ruach HaQodesh to meet
the Bridegroom you never saw before? Just
read what Kefa says:
1Pe 1:7
in order that the proving of your belief
– much more precious than gold that perishes, and proven by fire – might be
found to result in praise and respect and esteem at the revelation of יהושע Messiah, 1Pe 1:8 whom having not seen, you love; in whom you exult with
unspeakable and esteemed joy, yet not
seeing, but believing,
Can you see that we all walk in the steps of our
forefathers and like Ribqah run to be
with the bridegroom we have not seen?
Gen 25:21
And Yitsḥaq prayed to יהוה for his wife, because she was

.We are going to see in the book of Yasher (The Just) for more details. The
word “barren” in Hebrew means “sterile”. It is the same as it was with Sarah
for whom Abraham has prayed, later it will also be with Rachel. There are
questions here, but let us read what the book of Yasher says:
Yasher
26:1. And
in the fifty-ninth year of the life
of Isaac the son of Abraham, Rebecca his wife was still barren in those days. 2. and Rebecca said unto Isaac, Truly I have heard, my Master, that thy
mother Sarah was barren in her days until
my Master Abraham, thy father, prayed for her and she conceived
by him. 3. Now therefore stand up, pray thou also to ELohim and he will
hear thy prayer and remember us through
his mercies. 4. and Isaac answered
his wife Rebecca, saying, Abraham has
already prayed for me to Elohim to multiply his seed, now therefore this barrenness must proceed to
us from thee.
5. and Rebecca said unto him, But arise now thou also
and pray, that YHWH may hear thy prayer and grant me children, and Isaac
hearkened to the words of his wife, and Isaac and his wife rose up and went to
the land of Moriah to pray there and to seek YHWH, and when they had reached
that place Isaac stood up and prayed to YHWH on account of his wife because she
was barren. 6. and Isaac said, O YHWH of
heaven and earth, whose goodness and mercies fill the earth, thou who didst
take my father from his father's house and from his birthplace, and didst bring
him unto this land, and didst say unto him, To thy seed will I give the land, and
thou didst promise him and didst declare unto him, I will multiply thy seed as
the stars of heaven and as the sand of the sea, now may thy words be verified
which thou didst speak unto my father. 7. for thou art YHWH Eloheinu, our eyes
are toward thee to give us seed of men,
as thou didst promise us, for thou art YHWH Eloheinu and our eyes are directed
toward thee only. 8. and YHWH heard the
prayer of Isaac the son of Abraham, and YHWH was entreated of him and
Rebecca his wife conceived.
First
of all we see that Ribqah was well
informed concerning Yitzhak family and knew concerning the bareness from Sarah
whom she calls “my mother" as sign of integrity. Yitzhak tell her that it doesn’t come from him, because his Father
had already pray for him. He was convinced that nothing couldn’t be changed in
this promise the problem came from Ribqah’s side!
Let see now how it is in the Brit Chadasha (N.T):
Luk 1:7 and they had no child, because Elisheḇa was barren, and both were advanced in years.
Gal 4:27 for it has been written, “Rejoice, O barren, you who do not bear! Break
forth and shout, you who do not have birth pains! For the deserted one has many
more children than she who has a husband.” Sha’ul refers
here to the words of the prophet Yeshayahu,
when he was speaking to the believers in Galatia, making a spiritual connection
between Hagar and Sarah
Gal 4:28 and we, brothers, as Yitsḥaq was, are children of
promise.
Kefa
goes further in his understanding turning it to the knowledge of the Torah.
2Pe 1:8 for if these things are in you and increase, they
cause you to be neither inactive nor without fruit (barren) in the knowledge of
our Master יהושע Messiah.
We
see that in all this situations the answer come by praying to יהוה either for physical or spiritual fruits.
Gen 25:22 and within her the children
struggled together, and she said, “If all is right, why am I this way?” So she
went to ask יהוה.
“She went to ask” where does Ribqah went? Yahser give us the answer again:
Yasher 26:9. And in about seven months after the children
struggled together within her, and it pained her greatly that she was wearied
on account of them, and she said to all the women who were then in the land, Did
such a thing happen to you as it has to me? And they said unto her, No. 10. And
she said unto them, Why am I alone
in this amongst all the women that were upon earth? and she went to the land of
Moriah to seek YHWH on account of this; and she went to Shem and Eber his son to make inquiries of them in this
matter, and that they should seek YHWH in this thing respecting her. 11. And she also asked Abraham to seek and
inquire of YHWH about all that had befallen her.
We are going to see that she got the answer from Abraham, Shem and Eber as we read in verse 23 “and יהוה said to her”: 12. And they
all (Abraham, Shem and Eber) inquired of יהוה concerning
this matter, and they brought her word
from יהוה and told her, Two children are in thy womb,
and two nations shall rise from them; and one nation shall be stronger than the
other, and the greater shall serve the younger.
This is
how יהוה answered Ribqah. We can also learn from this process by
asking those we know to be “close” to יהוה. This requires humility and trust. Ribqah knew that she was living among QaDosh (set apart) people. The vision of
the twins was given to Ribqah for a
purpose, later she will have to take a decision concerning Ya’acov. This decision will be because of what יהוה spoke to her while she was in her
pregnancy. We see here clearly that יהוה reveal himself also to a woman the
same way he does with man. Did יהוה spoke, or reveal things already to you as woman? Before
answering search your heart, I am sure that at one moment or another he did.
Two nations are in your womb and two peoples. Nations: Strong’s#
H1471 גּוי gôy
go'ee,
Apparently from the same root as H1465 (in the sense of massing); a foreign nation; hence a Gentile; also (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts: - Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
Peoples:
Strong’s #H3816 לאם le'ôm leh-ome', From an unused root meaning to gather; a community: - nation, people.......
Gentiles (Goyim) and a community (le'om) of people are
in the womb of Ribqah! It is amazing
to see how things developed. Beside all pagan nations living around Abraham and his children, gentile heathen (goy) and a community of people were in Ribqah womb. I am amazed when I read
that Strong translates the Hebrew
word with Gentile and the Brit Chadasha (N.T.) call believers Gentile. We can understand that in Ribqah womb were a foreign nation, later called Edomites and a community of people later
called Israel . There is more to find out, today Rome
is called Edom, and the older (Esau or Edom )
shall serve the younger (Ya’acov, the House of Israel )!
Gen 25:23 and יהוה said to her, “Two nations (Goyim) are in your womb,
and two peoples (le'om) shall be
separated from your body. And one people shall be stronger than the other, and
the older serve the younger.” Gen 25:24 and when the days were filled
for her to give birth, and see, twins were in her womb! Gen 25:25 and the first came out red all
over, like a hairy garment, so they called his name Ěsaw. Gen 25:26 and afterward his brother came
out, with his hand holding on to Ěsaw’s
heel, so his name was called Yaʽaqoḇ. And Yitsḥaq was sixty years old when she bore them.
Yasher 26:14. And the first came out red all
over like a hairy garment, and all the
people of the land called his name Esau, saying, That this one was made
complete from the womb. 15. and after that came his brother, and his hand
took hold of Esau's heel, therefore they called his name Jacob.
“His
name was Ya’acov”: Hebrew: H3290 יעקב ya’acov written:
yod, ayin,q of, beth. ya‛ăqôb BDB
Definition: Yacob = “heel holder” or “supplanter”
Part
of Speech: noun proper masculine. A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s Number:
from H6117
H6117 ‛âqab BDB Definition: 1) to supplant, circumvent, take by the heel, follow at the heel, assail insidiously, overreach
1a) (Qal) to supplant,
overreach, attack at the heel 1b) (Piel) to hold back.
So
we could say: Ya’acov was supplanting his brother Esau from the womb by circumventing his position, assailing insidiously Esau by attacking him at the heel in order to supplant him.
- “Sixty years old”: The Torah gives us details through
many ways. Here we see that the birth of Ya’acov
and Esau is the way of man, even been
יהוה’s will. The
physical must be fulfilled in order that the spiritual comes.
1Co 15:46
The spiritual, however, was not first, but the
natural, and afterward the spiritual.
Today many Christians accuse “Paul” to make up his own doctrines! Judge yourself if Shaul was doing his own teaching or
either was led by the Ruach HaQodesh
(Set Apart Spirit). Gen 25:27 and the boys grew up. And Ěsaw
became a man knowing how to hunt, a man
of the field, while Yaʽaqoḇ was a
complete man, dwelling in tents.
Here we have the two types of men. The first is a hunter
from the field the second is complete dwelling in tents. The first man to be called a “hunter” was
Nimrod.
Gen 10:9 He (Nimrod) was a mighty hunter before יהוה, therefore it is said, “Like
Nimroḏ the mighty hunter before יהוה.” We have
seen in the Parasha Noach that Nimrod
the hunter was a man drawing people away from following יהוה.
Yasher gives us following details: ---- 17. And the boys grew up to their fifteenth year, and
they came amongst the society of men. Esau was a designing and deceitful man,
and an expert hunter in the field, and Jacob
was a man perfect and wise, dwelling in tents, feeding flocks and learning
the instructions of YHWH and the commands of his father and mother.
........
“Esau a deceitful man”: Deceitful is directly linked to “hunter”
“Ya’acov perfect dwelling in tents”: Perfect is directly linked with
“dwelling in tents”. This is the place where the sages ‘Shem, Eber, Abraham were dwelling, teaching יהוה’s Torah. We see that the fact to dwell in tents is
directly connected with perfection. The
tent is also an allusion to the body the
temporary dwelling place of the nephesh
(soul) until we receive the glorify
body at the resurrection.
2Pe 1:13 but I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by a
reminder, 2Pe 1:14 knowing that the putting off of my
tent is soon, even as our Master יהושע Messiah
made clear to me.
Tent: Strong’s #G4638 σκήνωμα skēnōma skay'-no-mah
From G4637; an encampment, that is,
(figuratively) the Temple (as God’s residence), the body (as a tenement for the soul): - tabernacle. G4637:skēnoō skay-no'-o
From G4636;
to tent or encamp,
that is, (figuratively) to occupy
(as a mansion) or (specifically) to reside (as God did in the Tabernacle
of old, a symbol fo protection and communion): - dwell.
To dwell in tent demonstrate
also that we are ready to move wherever the Ruach
HaQodesh lead us, it is also the confirmation of the temporal (limited in
time):
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not
having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded
of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims
on the earth. --- Heb 11:14 for they that say such things declare plainly that
they seek a country. Heb 11:15 and truly, if they had been
mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had
opportunity to have returned. Heb 11:16 but now they desire a better country,
that is, an heavenly: wherefore YHWH is not ashamed to be called their Elohim:
for he hath prepared for them a city.
Today you have the one going
after his own desire the “hunter” and the one dwelling in the house feeding on
the Torah. Ya’acov was “feeding the
flock”
Act 20:28 “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Set-apart
Spirit has made you overseers, to
shepherd the assembly of Elohim which He (יהושע) has purchased with His own
blood.
1Pe 5:3 neither as being masters over those entrusted to you,
but being examples to the flock.
I add a comment from Nathan
Lawrence: --- Esau was a man of the field. Field in Scripture is a metaphor for the world (Matt. 13:38). Esau was a profane (unhallowed,
worldly, ungodly) man (Heb. 12:16). He had no esteem for things of eternal
value. That is why he sold his birthright. He lived for the present or the
moment and had no eye for, hope in, or faith toward the future. He sought
instant gratification of his sensual nature. His god was his belly. He
disdained and dishonoured his family heritage and those things that were highly
esteemed by his father and grandfather. In 26:34-35, we see, to the great grief
of his parents, Esau marrying one of the “local girls” of the land who was outside of the family. He did not honour
his parents or respect their wishes. Do these traits describe some unbelievers
that you know, and even some Believers?
Perhaps you were like this before you were saved. Do we see many Esau-types
running around among the younger generation today?
Gen 25:28 and Yitsḥaq loved Ěsaw because
he ate of his wild game, but Riḇqah loved Yaʽaqoḇ. ………………
It is amazing to see that Yitshaq loved Esau because of what he brought him to eat! Could it be that יהוה want us to see how the carnal man delights on physical
and the inward man, rejoice in the spiritual?
The love of Yitshaq is the Hebrew word: 'âhab / 'âhêb ....BDB Definition:
1) to love 1a) (Qal) 1a1) human love for another, includes
family, and sexual 1a2) human appetite for objects such as food,
drink, sleep, wisdom
Brown, Driver, Briggs, point that “ahab” can be for affection to somebody as well as for appetite for
food. Esau was feeding his father’s
carnal appetite?.....
Thoughts for the week: Esau represents the carnal nature in each of us, who want to
follow its own way and appetites, deceiving its own owner and speaking big
words while no action follow. He likes to argue, to debate on vain things in
order to promote his own “talent”:
Let there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who
sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterwards,
when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place
for repentance, though he sought for it with tears. (Hebrews 12:16-17)
Ya’acov represents the inner man who long after the Torah
teaching, to develop a pure character, listening to those who have gain higher
standard by experience and learning.
We have to choose the one we will follow, knowing that we
cannot have two masters, or we will love one and ate the other. Have you make
your choice whom you will follow?
Whenever we let our appetite control our steps, we follow
the Esau, the carnal man in each of
us. For some men it can be sexual desires, for other their own agenda in “serving YHWH” when they should care for
the family, for other natural desires, possession of worldly materials, looking
for the “red lentil soup”. One who
let his carnal desire control his senses is not a Qadosh one but sensual, fleshly and without spiritual discernment.
Throughout the parasha
we should fix our attention on Ya’acov behaviour the man who lived in tents and
compare ourselves to see how far we are from a godly life (or not!).
Gen 25:29 and Yaʽaqoḇ cooked a stew, and
Ěsaw came in from the field, and he was weary. Why
does Esau was “weary” when he cam from the field?
Yasher 27: 1. And Esau at that time, after the death of Abraham,
frequently went in the field to hunt.
2. and Nimrod king of Babel , the same was Amraphel, also frequently
went with his mighty men to hunt in the field, and to walk about with his men
in the cool of the day. 3. and Nimrod was observing Esau all the days, for a jealousy was formed in the heart of Nimrod
against Esau all the days. 4. and on a certain day Esau went in the field
to hunt, and he found Nimrod walking in the wilderness with his two men. 5. and
all his mighty men and his people were with him in the wilderness, but they removed
at a distance from him, and they went from him in different directions to hunt,
and Esau concealed himself for Nimrod,
and he lurked for him in the wilderness.
6. and Nimrod and his men that were with him did not
know him, and Nimrod and his men frequently walked about in the field at the
cool of the day, and to know where his men were hunting in the field. 7. and
Nimrod and two of his men that were with him came to the place where they were,
when Esau started suddenly from his
lurking place, and drew his sword, and hastened and ran to Nimrod and cut off
his head. 8. and Esau fought a desperate fight with the two men that were
with Nimrod, and when they called out to him, Esau turned to them and smote
them to death with his sword. 9. and all the mighty men of Nimrod, who had left
him to go to the wilderness, heard the cry at a distance, and they knew the
voices of those two men, and they ran to know the cause of it, when they found
their king and the two men that were with him lying dead in the wilderness.
10. and when Esau saw the mighty men of Nimrod coming
at a distance, he fled, and thereby escaped; and Esau took the valuable garments of Nimrod, which Nimrod's father
had bequeathed to Nimrod, and with which Nimrod prevailed over the whole land,
and he ran and concealed them in his house. 11. and Esau took those garments and ran into the city on account of Nimrod's
men, and he came unto his father's house wearied and exhausted from fight, and
he was ready to die through grief when he approached his brother Jacob and sat
before him. 12. and he said unto his
brother Jacob, Behold I shall die this day, and wherefore then do I want the
birthright? And Jacob acted wisely with Esau in this matter, and Esau sold
his birthright to Jacob, for it was
so brought about by YHWH.
Gen 25:30 And Ěsaw said to Yaʽaqoḇ,
“Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” That is why his name
was called Eḏom.
Esau killed Nimrod and took his garment which was Adam’s (Yasher 3:27) Elohim given garments, which seems to have given Nimrod his tremendous power. Nimrod got the garment from Cush the son from Ham the son of Noach. Yasher 7:23. And Cush the son of Ham, the son of Noah, took a wife in those days
in his old age, and she bare a son, and they called his name Nimrod, saying, At that time the sons of men again
began to rebel and transgress against Elohim, and the child grew up, and his
father loved him exceedingly, for he was the son of his old age. 24. and the garments of skin which God made for
Adam and his wife, when they went out of the garden, were given to Cush . 24. and
the garments of skin which Elohim made
for Adam and his wife, when they went out of the garden, were given to Cush . 25. for
after the death of Adam and his wife, the
garments were given to Enoch, the son of Jared, and when Enoch was taken up
to Elohim, he gave them to Methuselah, his son. 26. and at the death of
Methuselah, Noah took them and
brought them to the ark, and they were with him until he went out of the ark. 27.
and in their going out, Ham stole those
garments from Noah his father, and he took them and hid them from his
brothers. 28. and when Ham begat his first born Cush, he gave him the garments
in secret, and they were with Cush
many days. 29. and Cush also concealed them from his sons and brothers, and when
Cush had begotten Nimrod, he gave him
those garments through his love for him, and Nimrod grew up, and when he was twenty years old he put on
those garments. 30. and Nimrod
became strong when he put on the garments, and Elohim gave him might and
strength, and he was a mighty hunter in the earth, yea, he was a mighty hunter in the field, and he
hunted the animals and he built altars, and he offered upon them the animals before YHWH.
It is amazing to see that Nimrod in the beginning was
following Elohim and gave sacrifices!
We may be amazed to see that Adam’s garment
was given to Nimrod although we have learned that this garment was Adam’s earthly body. Yes there is no confusion in this
point when we know that in the p’shat
(literal) the both can be linked to one another. We come now to a point
which has been discussed, written about by many and we are going to try to
found out the “sod” of this account. The
P’shat tells us what Ya’acov was doing, just cooking food.
The verb used here gives us more details:
Strong’s # H 2102 זיד
זוּד zûd zîyd zood, zeed written zayin, yod, daleth A primitive root; to seethe;
figuratively to be insolent:
- be proud, deal proudly, presume, (come) presumptuously, sod.
We see that there is more in Ya’acov’s action, remember that he is call suplanter. He will use this stew to take the birthright from his
brother by deceit, ruse, or subterfuge.
Gen 25:31 but Yaʽaqoḇ said, “Sell me your
birthright today.”
“Birthright” Strong’s # H 1062 בּכורה bekôrâh written Beth, Qof,vav,resh, He. bek-o-raw', bek-o-raw'
Feminine of H1060; the firstling of man or beast; abstractly primogeniture:
- birthright, firstborn (-ling).
“The firstling of man or beast” Esau in his carnal
appetite didn’t realized that his action will forever change his position, for
him and his primogeniture. A simple act
will transform his life forever. This didn’t happened in one day, for the book
of Yasher
tells us that Esau was a deceitful since he was fifteen:
Yasher 26:17. And the boys grew
up to their fifteenth year, and they
came amongst the society of men. Esau
was a designing and deceitful man and an expert hunter in the field……
This is why Sha’ul
explains that a child shall obey his parents. The Character of a person is
fashioned in his youth:
Col 3:20 Children, obey your parents in
all things: for this is well
pleasing unto YHWH.
Ya’acov was always with his father learning from him, not so for
Esau who was a man of the field.
Yasher 28; 20. And Esau was a designing and
deceitful man, one who hunted after the hearts of men and inveigled
them, and Esau was a valiant man in the field, and in the course of time went as usual to hunt; and he came as
far as the field of Seir, the same is
Edom.
We
see here that the action of hunting is directly connected with deceiving people
“hunted after the heart of men”. Esau and his descendants are a group of
people who act like their ancestors to hunt
the heart of men in order to deceive them. Today this people are known by
the name “Edomites”.
Gen 25:32 and Ěsaw said, “Look, I am going
to die, so why should I have birthright?” Gen 25:33 Then Yaʽaqoḇ said, “Swear to me
today.” And he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Yaʽaqoḇ. Ya’acov took the matter very seriously; the details from the
book of Yasher give us a better
understanding .
Yasher 27:12. and he said
unto his brother Jacob, Behold I shall die this day, and wherefore then do I
want the birthright? And Jacob acted
wisely with Esau in this matter, and Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, for
it was so brought about by YHWH. 13. and Esau's portion in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham
had bought from the children of Heth for the possession of a burial ground, Esau also sold to Jacob, and Jacob
bought all this from his brother Esau for value given. 14. and Jacob wrote the whole of this in a book,
and he testified the same with witnesses, and he sealed it, and the book remained in the
hands of Jacob. We see that Ya’acov like Abraham took witnesses (plural) as it is written in
the Torah:
Deu 19:15 “One witness does not rise up against a man
concerning any crookedness or any sin that he commits. At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses a
matter is established.
We read here that Esau
sold also the place where he should have been buried. This place was where the
bones of Sarah and all members of Abraham’s children should be kept, the place
where resurrection will take place. In other words, Esau didn’t realize that he
was selling his soul to the world system, where there is no place for
resurrection to eternal life!
Today it is more convenient for many people to incinerate
(cremate) their dead. If we look at the process of incineration the bodies are
burned to ashes and many times the ashes are scattered like for sea men in the
sea. This process is by fire, and fire is throughout scriptures many time
directly related to judgment! Can it be a resurrection for those who have been
incinerated? Esau is also called Edom and we can see the final state
of Edom
spoken by the prophets:
Eze 32:29 “There is Eḏom, her sovereigns and all her princes,
who shall be given up in their
might, with those slain by the sword. With the uncircumcised they lie, and with
those going down to the Pit.
Joe 3:19
“Mitsrayim shall become a ruin, and Eḏom
a ruin, a wilderness,
Amo 1:11 Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of Eḏom, and for
four, I do not turn it back, because he
pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all compassion. And his
displeasure tore incessantly, and he kept his wrath forever.
Oba 1:1 The vision of Oḇaḏyah: This is what the
Master יהוה said concerning Eḏom. We have heard a report from יהוה, and a
messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let us rise up
against her for battle!” Oba 1:8
“In that day,” declares יהוה, “I shall destroy the wise men from Eḏom, and discernment from the mountains of Ěsaw! Mal 1:4
If Eḏom says, “We have been beaten down, let us return and build the ruins,” יהוה of hosts said thus: “Let them
build, but I tear down. And they shall be called ‘Border of Wrongness’, and the people against whom יהוה is enraged forever.
We have seen here the fate of Edom. Amos tells us that
it is because he didn’t have compassion with his brother Y’acov. Compassion is the Hebrew word “Racham” meaning “love” in form of affection.
Let us read what Shaul write:
1Co 13:13
and now belief, expectation, and love remain – these three. But the greatest of these is love. 1Co 13:4 love is patient,
is kind, love does not envy, love does not
boast, is not puffed up, 1Co 13:5 does not
behave indecently, does not seek its
own, is not provoked, reckons not the evil, 1Co 13:6
does not rejoice over the
unrighteousness, but rejoices in the
truth, 1Co
13:7 it covers all, believes all, expects all,
endure all. .....
Was Esau like what Shaul
write; how is it with us?
Gen 25:34 Yaʽaqoḇ then gave Ěsaw bread
and stew of lentils. And he ate and drank, and rose up and left. Thus Ěsaw despised his birthright.
By giving Esau the stew, and Esau accepting it, the “deal” was sealed forever.
How many in the world act foolishly as Esau did, just
to fulfil their carnal appetite. Esau is
the perfect image of those today following the world in their appetite for
material, chasing after power and fame. As
descendants of Ya’acov physically or
spiritually, we should find in your heart appetite for spiritual matters,
trusting יהושע to bring us to eternal life, the
inheritance which cannot be reached by man’s power.

Gen 26:1 and there
was a scarcity (famine) of food in the land, besides the first scarcity (famine) of food which was in the days of
Aḇraham. And Yitsḥaq went to Aḇimeleḵ, sovereign of the Philistines, in
Gerar.
Ten famines can be counted
in the Torah, this was the second one. The last one is given us by the prophet
Amos:
Amo 8:11 “See, days are coming,” declares the Master יהוה, “that I
shall send a hunger (famine) in the land, not a hunger(famine) for bread, nor a
thirst for water, but for hearing the
Words of יהוה. Amo 8:12 “And they shall wander from sea
to sea, and from north to east – they shall diligently search, seeking the Word
of יהוה, but they shall not find it
The Hebrew word used here
for “hunger” is the word” ra’ab” which mean to hunger as during a famine, a
lack of something.
Hos 8:11
“Since Ephrayim has made many altars for
sin, they have been altars for sinning to him. Hos 8:12 “I have written for him numerous matters of My Torah
– they were regarded as strange.
Where is Ephraim today?
Eze 34:1
and the
word of יהוה came to me, saying,
Eze 34:2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Yisra’ĕl,
prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה to the shepherds, “Woe to the shepherds1 of Yisra’ĕl who have been
feeding themselves! Should not the
shepherds feed the flock? Footnote: 1See Jer. 10:21. Eze 34:3 “You eat the fat and you put on
the wool. You slaughter the fatlings –
you do not feed the flock. Eze 34:4 “You have not strengthened the
weak, nor have you healed the sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back
the straying, nor sought what was lost; but you have ruled them with might and
harshness. Eze 34:5 “And they were scattered because there was no shepherd. And they became
food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. Eze 34:6 “My sheep wandered through all
the mountains, and on every high hill. And My
sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, and no one was
seeking or searching for them.”
Eze 34:7 ‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear
the word of יהוה: Eze 34:8 “As I live,” declares the Master
יהוה, “because My flock became a prey,
and My flock became food for every beast of the field, from not having a
shepherd, and My shepherds did not search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not
feed My flock,” Eze 34:9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the
word of יהוה! Eze 34:10 ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am
against the shepherds, and shall require My flock at their hand, and shall make
them cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more.
And I shall deliver My flock from their mouths, and they shall no longer be
food for them.” ……
Is not what יהושע says
quoting the prophet Ezekiel?
Mat 26:31 Then יהושע said to
them, “All of you shall stumble in Me this night, for it has been written, ‘I
shall strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock
shall be scattered.’1 Footnote:1Mk. 14:27, Zech. 13:7.
Zec 13:7
“O sword, awake against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My Companion,”
declares יהוה of hosts. “Smite the Shepherd,
and let the sheep be scattered. But I shall turn My hand upon the little ones.
יהושע was
accusing the Pharisee to have neglected to feed יהוה’s flock. The famine in Yitshak’s time is very interesting to
study and see what Yitshak was doing.
We all never forget to feed our natural
man, because it remind us when our stomach is empty, looking for food to
satisfy the flesh. Every day we drink water to satisfy the need of the body.
The spiritual man needs also the water of the word in order to be fed!
This is why it is good to fast, in order to put the
flesh down and search for spiritual food.
יהוה says that
the last famine in the world will be the famine of hearing the Torah! …..
Gen 26:2
and יהוה appeared to him and said, “Do not
go down to Mitsrayim, live in the land which I command you.
The word Mitsrayim, mostly translated with “Egypt ” a world of oppression and
confinement. Jamieson, Fausset and
Brown give us following explanation:
And
there was a famine in the land ... And Isaac went unto ... Gerar — The pressure of famine in Canaan forced Isaac with
his family and flocks to migrate into the land of the Philistines, where he was
exposed to personal danger, as his father had been on account of his wife’s
beauty; but through the seasonable interposition of Providence, he was
preserved (Psa_105:14,
Psa_105:15).
Psa 105:14 He allowed no one to oppress them, and He reproved
sovereigns for their sakes,
Psa 105:15
Saying, “Do not touch My
anointed ones, And do My prophets no evil.”
Matthew Henry add: If
God engage to be with us, and we are where he would have us to be, nothing but our own unbelief and distrust can
prevent our comfort. The obedience of Abraham to the Divine command, was
evidence of that faith..........
Gen 26:3 “Sojourn in this land. And I shall be with you and bless you, for I give
all these lands to you and your seed. And I shall establish the oath which
I swore to Aḇraham your father.
Yitshak
followed the way of his father, Elohim
had to intervene in order for him to
stay in the land יהוה want to give to him and his descendants. In Hebrew
teaching of the tree of life, we learn that Yitshak
represent the side of strictness, the side of “Gewurah”, judgment. If we
go deeper we can see that Shaul says
that In Yitshak is the promise. He
was the sole of Abraham” son who didn’t went to “Egypt ”.
Gen 26:4 “And I shall increase your seed
like the stars of the heavens, and I shall give all these lands to your seed.
And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, “to your seed”.

If we refer to B’reshit chapter
one we found out:
Gen 1:11
and Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant that yields seed,
and the fruit tree that yields fruit
according to its kind, whose seed (zara) is in itself, on the earth.” And
it came to be so. .....
.The Hebrew word for seed used here is the same and
represent the semen which will bring fruits. Man in the scriptures is also
referred as “tree”. The semen of Abraham,
Yitzak and Ya’acov will bring blessing
to the all world through the nations. We know that later the children of Israel will be
scattered in the four corners of the earth.
Do you know how much idolatry is in the world today? I have been
watching reportage in India
and was shocked by the number of “gods” this country has. This is only one
example, the same is to be found in many place in Africa .
Don’t think that the other places in the world are free. In Europe
and US they follow after “mammon” the “god” of wealth which is in the hand of
the deceiver “HaSatan”. I remember
one day I was talking with a brother and told him that if he wanted to become
rich, he should have to worship HaSatan!
He was upset at me before I was finished. I don’t say that יהוה is not able to make somebody rich, because he is. I say
that if somebody wishes to be rich at any price, he will have to worship HaSatan. If you don’t believe me, I will
show you according to the scriptures. Please do not make the error of the
Christians who look at the Torah only to try to give proof that our forefathers
were rich in material things. Yes this is true, but it is the mirror of the
spiritual condition of those today following Messiah. (Ephesian 1:3).
Now to show you what I pretend
let us look what HaSatan says:
Luk 4:5 and the devil, taking him (Yeshua) up into
an high mountain, shewed unto him all
the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. Luk 4:6 and
the devil said unto him, all this power will I give thee, and the glory of
them: for that is delivered unto me; and to
whomsoever I will I give it. Luk 4:7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all
shall be thine.
Luk 4:8 And יהושע answering him, said, “Get
behind Me, Satan! For it has been written, ‘You shall worship יהוה your
Elohim, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
HaSatan showed יהושע the splendor of the world and the Kingdoms of the world.
Do you know that today as many as you can see that have tremendous riches they
all are part of an occult group, worshippers of HaSatan whom they called “Lucifer” the “light bearer”.
Just think why our forefathers
were so rich? Once again we have the natural for spiritual. Messiah was not yet
come and the people around our forefathers were idolaters. They increased their
wealth by making war. Abraham and all
our forefathers had great possession by יהוה’s will to demonstrate His goodness
toward His people. Today riches are not a proof of Elohim’s presence in somebody’s life. Christians still believe this doctrine: pay
your tithe and “G-d” will bless you, if you don’t pay don’t be surprised if you
lack!
Can you empress Elohim with your money? Just read in the
next verse, what יהוה says concerning Abraham
and look if he speaks from Money when He says that all nations will be blessed
through Yitshak’s seed!
Gen 26:5 because Aḇraham obeyed My voice and guarded My Charge: My commands, My laws, and My Torot1.” Footnote: 1Torot
- plural of Torah, teaching Gen 26:6 and Yitsḥaq dwelt in Gerar. Gen 26:7 and when the men of the place
asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister.” For he was afraid to say,
“She is my wife,” thinking,
“lest the men of the place should kill me for Riḇqah, because she is
good-looking.”
Gen 26:8 and it came to be, when he had
been there a long time, that Aḇimeleḵ (father of Kings) sovereign of the
Philistines looked through a window, and he watched and saw Yitsḥaq playing
with Riḇqah his wife.
Gen 26:9 so Aḇimeleḵ called Yitsḥaq
and said, “See, truly she is your wife! So how could you say, ‘She is my
sister’?” And Yitsḥaq said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die on account of
her.’ ”
The word "guarded" in
verse 5 is the Hebrew word "shamar":
H8104 שָׁמַר shamar (shaw-mar') v.
1. (properly) to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard
2. (generally) to protect, attend to, etc
[a primitive root]
The idea here is to handle the
word like a shepherd hedge is flock with thorn during night to protect them
from predators.
Lack of trust in יהוה, How is It with us, when do we lie
to hide something from our enemies forgetting to trust יהוה!
Gen 26:10 and Aḇimeleḵ said, “What is
this you have done to us? One of the people had almost lain with your wife, and
you would have brought guilt on us.” Gen 26:11 and Aḇimeleḵ commanded all his
people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife shall certainly be put to
death.”
Let us read to what happened to Abimelech before with Abraham:
Gen 20:2 and Aḇraham said concerning Sarah his wife, “She is
my sister.” and Aḇimeleḵ sovereign of Gerar sent and took Sarah......
We know that יהוה delivered Sarah from the hands from Abimelech and now he was warned not to repeat the same mistake.
Gen 26:12 And Yitsḥaq sowed in that land,
and reaped in the same year a
hundredfold, and יהוה blessed him. ……………
The hundred fold blessing is
taught by יהושע in the parable of the sower:
Mar 4:8 “And other fell on good soil and yielded a crop that
came up, grew and yielded a crop, some thirtyfold, and some sixty, and some a hundred.” Mar 4:9 and He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” יהושע was explaining the different soil (heart) on which the
seed has been planted. Gen 26:13 and the man (Itzkah) grew great
and went forward until he became very
great.
Can you see that it was יהוה who prospered Yitshak.
Jealousy filled the heart of the Philistines that they envied him, stopped the
wells, filling them with dirt. This is a
picture of the world today trying to fill the spiritual wells from believers
with the dirt of the world because of envy, immorality, lies, sex, doctrines of
demons preached by false pastors, Wells
are a pictures of the place we get the spiritual water of life, the Torah.
The natural wells were places where they could water the flocks.
Isa 12:2 “See, Ěl is my deliverance, I trust and am not afraid. For Yah, יהוה, is my
strength and my song; and He has become my deliverance.”
Isa 12:3 and you shall draw water with joy from the wells of salvation. Isa 12:4 and in that day you shall say,

deeds among the peoples, make mention that His Name is exalted.
Joh 4:6 and Yaʽaqoḇ’s fountain was there. So יהושע, being
wearied from the journey, was sitting thus at the well. It was about the sixth

Joh 4:10
יהושע answered and said to her, “If you
knew the gift of Elohim, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me to drink,’ you
would have asked Him, and He would have given
you living water.
Jer 2:13
“For My people have done two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters1, to hew out for themselves cisterns, cracked
cisterns, which do not hold water
Jer 17:13
O יהוה, the mikveh* (hope) of Yisra’ĕl,
all who forsake You are put to shame. “Those who depart from Me shall be
written in the earth, because they have forsaken יהוה, the fountain of living waters.”
·
The
Hebrew word “mikveh” means also a
collection of water, in English also translated with “baptism”.........
·
In
the verse 13 from Yrmeyahu we can see the connection with Abraham who was the
friend of יהוה
·
Gen 26:14 and he came to have possessions
of flocks and possessions of herds and a great body of servants, and the Philistines envied him. Gen 26:15 and the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s
servants had dug in the days of Aḇraham his father, and filled them with dirt.
Gen 26:16 and Aḇimeleḵ said to Yitsḥaq,
“Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
From ancient times people have
been jealous of יהוה’s people,
don’t be surprised if today people are jealous at you for your spiritual
knowledge, they will try to fill your “well” with dirt, immorality, garbage
from the world, evil thoughts, enticements……..
Gen 26:17 so Yitsḥaq went from there and
pitched his tent in the wadi Gerar, and dwelt there.
Gen 26:18 and Yitsḥaq dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the
days of Aḇraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the
death of Aḇraham. And he called them by
the names which his father had called them. Gen 26:19 but when Yitsḥaq’s servants dug
in the wadi and found a well of
running water there, Gen 26:20 the herdsmen of Gerar strove
with Yitsḥaq’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” and he called the name
of the well Ěseq, because they strove with him.
Gen 26:21 and they dug. another well, and
they strove over that one too, and he called its name Sitnah (heb. opposition) Gen 26:22 and he moved from there and dug
another well, and they did not strive over it. And he called its name Reḥoḇoth (hebr: street plural,
wide place, avenue) and said,
“For now יהוה has made room for us, and we shall bear fruit in the land.”
To dig a well is connected with
bearing fruit.

and he said, “See now, I am old, I do not know the day of my death. Gen
27:3 “Now
then, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the
field and hunt wild game for me. Gen 27:4 “And make me a tasty dish, such as I love, and bring
it to me to eat, in order that my being does bless you before I die.” Gen 27:5 and Riḇqah heard when Yitsḥaq spoke to Ěsaw his
son. And Ěsaw went to the field to hunt wild game and to bring it. Gen 27:6 and Riḇqah spoke to Yaʽaqoḇ her son, saying, “See,
I heard your father speak to Ěsaw your brother, saying, Gen 27:7 ‘Bring me wild game and make me a tasty dish to eat,
and bless you in the presence of יהוה before my death.’ Gen 27:8 “And now my son, listen to my voice according to what I command you. Gen 27:9 “Please go to the flock and
bring me two choice young goats, and I make a tasty dish from them for your
father, such as he loves. Gen 27:10 “And you shall take it to your
father, and he shall eat it, so that he might bless you before his death.” Gen 27:11 and Yaʽaqoḇ said to Riḇqah his mother, “See, Ěsaw my brother is a
hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man.
Gen 27:12 “What if my father touches me?
Then I shall be like a deceiver
in his eyes, and shall bring a curse
on myself and not a blessing.” Gen 27:13 but his mother said to him, “Let
your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go, get them for
me.” The “curse” on Ya’acov’s mother will be that she will
never see again her son until her death!
Gen 27:14 and he went and fetched them and
brought them to his mother, and his mother made a tasty dish, such as his
father loved. Gen 27:15 and Riḇqah took the best garments of her elder son Ěsaw, which were
with her in the house, and put them on
Yaʽaqoḇ her younger son. Gen 27:16 and she put the skins of the
young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
Gen 27:17 Then she gave the tasty dish and
the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Yaʽaqoḇ. Gen 27:18 and he went to his father and
said, “My father.” And he said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?” Gen 27:19 and Yaʽaqoḇ said to his father,
“I am Ěsaw your first-born, I have done as you said to me. Please rise, sit and
eat of my wild game, so that your being might bless me.” Gen 27:20 but Yitsḥaq said to his son,
“How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” And he said, “Because יהוה your Elohim brought it to me.” Gen 27:21 Then Yitsḥaq said to Yaʽaqoḇ,
“Please come near, so that I feel you, my son, whether you truly are my son
Ěsaw or not.” Gen 27:22 and Yaʽaqoḇ went near to
Yitsḥaq his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is the voice of
Yaʽaqoḇ, but the hands are the hands of Ěsaw.”
Gen 27:23 and he did not recognise him,
for his hands were hairy like his brother Ěsaw’s hands, and he blessed him. Gen 27:24 and he said, “Are you truly my
son Ěsaw?” And he said, “I am.” Gen 27:25 and he said, “Bring it near to
me, and let me eat of my son’s wild game, so that my being might bless you.” So
he brought it near to him, and he ate. And he brought him wine, and he drank. Gen 27:26 and his father Yitsḥaq said to
him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.” Gen 27:27 and he came near and kissed him.
And he smelled the smell of his garments, and blessed him and said, “See, the
smell of my son is like the smell of a field which יהוה has
blessed. Gen 27:28 and (Ya’acov blessings sevenfold):
----Elohim gives you of the dew of the
heavens,
--- -of the fatness of the earth,
--- -and plenty of grain and wine. ……..
Gen 27:29
- ---let peoples
serve you, and nations bow down to
you.
----Be master over your brothers,
----and let your
mother’s sons bow down to you.
--- -Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you!”
Gen 27:30 ad it came to be, as soon as
Yitsḥaq had finished blessing Yaʽaqoḇ, and Yaʽaqoḇ had hardly left the
presence of Yitsḥaq his father, that Ěsaw his brother came in from his hunting.
Gen 27:31 and he too had made a tasty dish
and brought it to his father, and said to his father, “Let my father rise and
eat of his son’s wild game, so that your being might bless me.” Gen 27:32 and his father Yitsḥaq said to
him, “Who are you?” And he said, “I am your son, your first-born, Ěsaw.” Gen 27:33 Then Yitsḥaq trembled
exceedingly, and said, “Who was it then who hunted wild game and brought it to
me? And I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him. Yea, he is blessed.” (No return!) Gen 27:34 When Ěsaw heard the words of his
father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his
father, “Bless me, me too, O my father!” Gen 27:35 and he (Esau) said, “Your brother came with deceit and took your
blessing.” Gen 27:36 and Ěsaw said, “Was his name, then, called Yaʽaqoḇ?
For he has caught me by the heel these two times. He took my birthright, and
see, now he has taken my blessing!” and he said, “Have you not reserved a
blessing for me?” Gen 27:37 Then Yitsḥaq answered and said
to Ěsaw, “See,
The word for "deceit"
in Hebrew is:
H4820 מִרמָה mirmah (meer-maw') n-f.
1. fraud
[from H7411 in the sense of deceiving]
KJV: craft, deceit(-ful, -fully),
false, feigned, guile, subtilly, treachery.
H7411 H7411 רָמָה ramah (raw-maw') v.
1. to hurl
2. specifically, to shoot
3. (figuratively) to delude or betray (as if causing to fall)
Esau blessing:I have made him your master, and all his brothers I have given to him as servants. And I have sustained him with
grain and wine. And what, then, shall I do for you, my son?” Gen 27:38 and Ěsaw said to his father,
“Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me too, O my father!” And
Ěsaw lifted up his voice and wept. Gen 27:39 and Yitsḥaq his father answered
and said to him, “
-See, your dwelling
is of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the heavens from above
(carnal life). Gen 27:40 -and by your sword you are to live, and serve your brother.
-And it shall be, when you grow
restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
Gen 27:41 and Ěsaw hated Yaʽaqoḇ because of the blessing with which his father
blessed him, and Ěsaw said in his
heart, “The days of mourning for my father draw near, then I am going to kill my brother
Yaʽaqoḇ.”
Gen 27:42 and the words of Ěsaw her older
son were reported to Riḇqah, and she sent and called Yaʽaqoḇ her younger son,
and said to him, “See, your brother Ěsaw comforts himself concerning you, to
kill you.
Gen 27:43 “And now, my son, listen to my
voice, and rise, flee to my brother Laḇan in Ḥaran. Gen 27:44 “And stay with him a few days,
until your brother’s wrath turns away, Gen 27:45 until your brother’s displeasure
turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. And I shall send
and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?” Gen 27:46 And Riḇqah said to Yitsḥaq, “I am disgusted with my life because of
the daughters of Ḥĕth. If Yaʽaqoḇ takes a wife from the daughters of Ḥĕth,
like these who are the daughters of the land, what is my life to me?”
The chapter 27 recalls the account of how Yitzhak got the blessing from Esau and left to go to Paddan Aram to the House of Bethu’el
to get a wife. There are many points in this chapter which have a deep
spiritual meaning. First of all we
should be amazed hat יהוה does
not intervene as Ribqah tells Ya’acov to do what she say, knowing that
it is wrong to deceive. Many times in the Torah there are these kinds of
actions. Was יהוה not able
to fulfil what he told Ribqah when she
was still bearing the kids in her womb? For sure he was. Ya’acov
mother say to him: “let the curse be on
me” verse 12. If we read the book of
Yasher, we will learn that Ribqah
never saw Ya’acov again after his
departure to Paddan Aram. Ya’acov
followed his mother counsel and got his father’s blessing. From now on Ya’acov way will not be easy, from his
brother who want to kill him up to his uncle who will try to abuse him ten
times, Ya’acov will learn how to put his soul upright before יהוה.
Are you wondering of what happen to you in your life?
Don’t worry because יהוה chastise
those he loves
Psa 94:12 blessed is the man You discipline (chastise), O Yah, and
instruct out of Your Torah, Psa 94:13 To give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit
is dug for the wrong (wicked). Psa 94:14 for יהוה does not leave His people, Nor
does He forsake His inheritance.
Heb 12:6 for whom יהוה loves, He disciplines, and flogs (chastise) every
son whom He receives.”
Heb 12:7
If you endure discipline, Elohim is
treating you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline? Heb 12:8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have
become sharers, then you are illegitimate (bastard) and not sons. Heb 12:9 Moreover, we indeed had fathers of our flesh
disciplining us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be subject
to the Father of spirits, and live?
Heb 12:10
for they indeed disciplined us for a few days as seemed best to them, but He does it for our profit, so that we might
share His apartness. Heb 12:11 and indeed, no
discipline seems pleasant at the time, but grievous, but afterward
it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it
Yasher 28: 10.
And Esau said, Is he not rightly called Jacob? for he has supplanted me twice, he took away my birthright and now he
has taken away my blessing; and Esau wept greatly; and when Isaac heard the
voice of his son Esau weeping, Isaac said unto Esau, What can I do, my son, thy
brother came with subtlety and took away thy blessing; and Esau hated his brother Jacob on account of the blessing that his
father had given him, and his anger was greatly roused against him. 11. and Jacob was very much afraid of his brother
Esau, and he rose up and fled to
the house of Eber the son of Shem, and he concealed himself there on
account of his brother, and Jacob
was sixty-three years old when he went forth from the land of Canaan
from Hebron ,
and Jacob was concealed in Eber's
house fourteen years on account of his brother Esau, and he there continued to learn the ways of
YHWH and his commandments. Ya’acov was seventy seven years old when he left the
House of Shem ......... Remember that we have
learned that Shem was Melkitzedek and met Abraham!
Verses 35-36, “Your brother came with deceit”, Esau
reply: “was not his name called Ya’acov”
meaning supplanter, having taken away his birthright and his blessing! Esau was
not able to see that יהוה had
his hand on his life; he was blind by his worldly nature. He was a man from the
instant, just to live day by day and couldn’t perceive what is to be spiritual.
So are many people today living after their carnal instinct? Esau will follow his anger during many years
trying to kill his brother and losing his inheritance with Elohim forever. יהוה will
protect Ya’acov in spite of the
chastisement he will undergo. People in
the world make a big mistake today, even many believers who measure your
relationship to “g-d” by your financial situation. This is far from the Torah
and from the scriptures. Chastisement is
the proof of יהוה’s interest in your life, don’t worry when you are chastised,
but endure with patience:
2Th 1:4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the
assemblies of Elohim for your endurance and belief in all your persecutions and afflictions which you are bearing,
2Th
1:5 clear evidence of the righteous judgment
of Elohim, in order for you to be counted worthy of the reign of Elohim, for
which you also suffer,........
With this in mind we can read again Hebrew chapter 12
Heb
12:6 for whom
יהוה loves, He disciplines, and flogs every son whom
He receives.” ….. Another comment from Nathan Lawrence: ---- Jacob paid a hard price for his trickery and deceit.
YHVH did not let him off the proverbial hook. Jacob received none of the material
inheritance of Isaac and had to start from scratch under Laban, the taskmaster and a deceiver himself. Jacob came out
a humbled and changed man.
Are you
presently paying a dear price for your past mistakes? Are you “taking your
medicine” and learning your lessons well so that YHVH can mature and bless you
in the end?
Chapter
28
Gen 28:1
and Yitsḥaq called Yaʽaqoḇ and blessed him, and commanded him, and said to
him, “Do not take a wife from the
daughters of Kenaʽan. ...
Yitshak
follow the teaching of his father Abraham
Gen 24:3 so that I make you swear by יהוה, the Elohim
of the heavens and the Elohim of the earth, that you do not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Kenaʽanites,
among whom I dwell,
Gen 24:4 but to go to my land and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son
Yitsḥaq.” Gen 28:2 “Arise, go to Paddan Aram (field), to the house of Bethu’ĕl your mother’s father.
And take a wife for yourself from there, from the daughters of Laḇan your
mother’s brother. Gen 28:3 “And Ěl Shaddai
bless you, and make you bear fruit and increase you, and you shall become an
assembly of peoples (qahal am),
Many translations will give the word “multitude” for
“assembly”. If we look in the Hebrew text we will find the word “ qahal” an assembly; in Greek the word
is Ekklesia; falsely translated with
“church” instead of “call out”, “assembly”.
Gen 28:4
and give you the blessing of Aḇraham, to you and your seed with you, so that
you inherit the land of your sojournings, which
Elohim gave to Aḇraham.” Gen 28:5 so Yitsḥaq sent Yaʽaqoḇ away, and he went to Paddan
Aram ,
to Laḇan son of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean, the brother of Riḇqah, the mother of
Yaʽaqoḇ and Ěsaw. Gen 28:6 and Ěsaw saw
that Yitsḥaq had blessed Yaʽaqoḇ and sent him away to Paddan Aram to take
himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a command,
saying, “Do not take a wife from the daughters of Kenaʽan,” Gen 28:7 and that Yaʽaqoḇ had obeyed his father and his
mother and had gone to Paddan Aram .
Gen 28:8 so Ěsaw saw
that the daughters of Kenaʽan did not please his father Yitsḥaq, Gen 28:9 and Ěsaw went
to Yishmaʽĕl and took Maḥalath the daughter of Yishmaʽĕl, Aḇraham’s son,
the sister of Neḇayoth, to be his wife, besides the wives he had.
Yasher 28:12. and when Esau saw that Jacob had fled and escaped
from him, and that Jacob had cunningly obtained the blessing, then Esau grieved exceedingly, and he was also
vexed at his father and mother; and he also rose up and took his wife and
went away from his father and mother to the land of Seir ,
and he dwelt there; and Esau saw there a woman from amongst the daughters of
Heth whose name was Bosmath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and he took her
for a wife in addition to his first wife, and Esau called her name Adah, saying
the blessing had in that time passed from him. 13. and Esau dwelt in the land
of Seir six months without seeing his father and mother, and afterward Esau took his wives and rose up and
returned to the land
of Canaan , and Esau placed
his two wives in his father's house in Hebron .
Seir: H8165 שֵׂעִיר Se`iyr (say-eer') n/p.
1. rough
2. Seir, a mountain of Idumaea and its aboriginal occupants, also one
in Israel
From the root word:
H8163 שָׂעִיר שָׂעִר sa`iyr
(saw-eer') (or sabir {saw-eer'}) adj.
1. shaggy
2. as noun, a he-goat
3. by analogy, a faun
[from H8175]
KJV: devil, goat, hairy, kid, rough,
satyr.
Root(s): H8175
H8175 שָׂעַר sa`ar (saw-ar') v.
1. to storm
2. (by implication) to
shiver, i.e. fear
[a primitive root]
KJV: be (horribly) afraid, fear,
hurl as a storm, be tempestuous, come like (take away as with) a whirlwind.
14. and the
wives of Esau vexed and provoked Isaac and Rebecca with their works, for they
walked not in the ways of YHWH, but served their father's gods of wood and stone
as their father had taught them, and they
were more wicked than their father. 15. and they went according to the evil desires of their hearts, and
they sacrificed and burnt incense to the
Baalim, and Isaac and Rebecca became weary of them. 16. and Rebecca said, I
am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob take a wife of
the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what
good then is life unto me?
Esau
is the man of the flesh following is animal instincts and will have no heritage
in יהוה’s kingdom:
1Co 15:50 And this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood is
unable to inherit the reign of Elohim, neither does corruption inherit
incorruption.
Are you concern with your children that they will not
take a wife or a husband outside the Family
which consist of members of the covenant, or do you let them go as I have
seen many times, after their fleshly desire? Deception many times comes from
the flesh when our carnal nature blind us from following יהוה people living after the flesh will end up like Esau, even
trying to copy Ya’acov taking one
woman from Hagar forgetting that the
promise was in Itzhak and not in Ishmael. Go and talk with those
Christians and invite them to your Shabbat and to follow the Torah, you will
see their reactions, if they agree with you or will accuse you of legalism telling
you that you are under curse because
you follow the Torah. Sometime this experience is necessary for us to
understand that we cannot associate with those outside the Torah without
compromising and thus been in danger for our own life. Another important point
to be considered is that Esau trying
to please his parents went to get the daughter of Ishamel, thus making alliance with what we call today the Muslim. Knowing this fact will help us
today to understand some man made “coalition”
between descendants from Esau and
from Ishamel (Arabs).
HAFTORAH
Mal 1:1 The message of the word of יהוה to Yisra’ĕl by Mal’aḵi. Mal 1:2 “I have loved you,” said יהוה. “But you
asked, ‘In what way have You loved us?’ “Was not Ěsaw Yaʽaqoḇ’s brother?”
declares יהוה. “And I love Yaʽaqoḇ, Mal 1:3 but I have hated Ěsaw, and have
laid waste his mountains and his inheritance for the jackals of the
wilderness.” Mal 1:4 If Eḏom (which is Esau) says, “We have been beaten down, let us
return and build the ruins,” יהוה of hosts said thus: “Let them
build, but I tear down. And they
shall be called ‘Border of Wrongness’, and the
people against whom יהוה is enraged forever. Mal 1:5 and your eyes shall see, and you
shall say, ‘Great is יהוה beyond the border of Yisra’ĕl!’ Mal 1:6 “A son esteems his father, and a
servant his master. And if I am the Father, where is My esteem? And if I am a
Master, where is My fear? said יהוה of hosts to you priests who
despise My Name. But you asked, ‘In what way have we despised Your Name?’ Mal 1:7 “You are presenting defiled food on My altar. But you asked, ‘In
what way have we defiled You?’ Because you say, ‘The table of יהוה is despicable.’ Mal 1:8 “And when you present the blind as a slaughtering, is it not evil? And when
you present the lame and sick, is it
not evil? Bring it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would
he accept you favourably?” said יהוה of hosts.
Mal 1:9 “And now, entreat the face of Ěl
to show favour to us. This has been done by your hands. Would He show favour to
you?” said יהוה of hosts. Mal 1:10 “Who among you who would shut
the doors, so that you would not kindle fire on My altar for naught? I have no
pleasure in you,” said יהוה of hosts, “Nor do I accept an
offering from your hands. Mal 1:11 “For from the rising of the sun,
even to its going down, My Name is great among nations and in every place
incense is presented to My Name, and a clean offering. For My Name is great
among nations,” said יהוה of hosts. Mal 1:12 “But you are profaning Me, in
that you say, ‘The table of יהוה is defiled, and its fruit, its
food, is despicable.’ Mal 1:13 “And you said, ‘Oh, what
weariness!’ and you sneered at it,” said יהוה of hosts. “And you brought in
plunder, and the lame, and the sick – thus you have brought in the offering!
Should I accept this from your hand?” said יהוה. Mal 1:14 “But cursed be the deceiver who
has a male in his flock, and makes a vow, but is slaughtering to יהוה what is blemished. For I am a
great Sovereign,” said יהוה of hosts, “and My Name is feared
among nations.
The prophet Malachi
speaks of Ya’acov and Edom to make the difference between the
right and wrong behave before Elohim.
He makes the relation with the priest in the second chapter who were acting
wickedly with יהוה’s people. Esau will never success against Ya’acov,
his judgment is already proclaimed! This is the book used by many “teachers” to
explain that if we don’t pat tithe we are robbing Elohim. In the Parasha
concerning tithe we are going to see that this doctrine is based on lack of
knowledge and understanding. This is
dangerous and brings people in bondage, using the name of Elohim. The second chapter shows clearly that יהוה is
talking to the priest, the Levite
only and nobody else if we keep going we will see that it goes to the end of
the book from Malachi. The Levites were under the Levitical priesthood, which is no more
today, and were serving in the Tabernacle later in the Temple , both having been removed…………Mal 2:1
“And now, O priests, this command is
for you. Mal 2:2 “If you do not hear, and if you do not take it to
heart, to give esteem to My Name,” said יהוה of hosts, “I shall send a curse
upon you, and I shall curse your blessings. And indeed, I have cursed them,
because you do not take it to heart. Mal 2:3 “See, I shall rebuke your seed,
and scatter dung before your faces, the dung of your festivals. And you shall
be taken away with it. Mal 2:4 “And you shall know that I have
sent this command to you, as being My covenant with Lĕwi,” said יהוה of hosts. Mal 2:5 “My covenant with him was life
and peace, and I gave them to him, to fear. And he feared Me, and stood in awe
of My Name. Mal 2:6 “The Torah of truth1 was in his mouth, and
unrighteousness was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and
straightness, and turned many away from crookedness. Footnote: 1Neh.
9:13.
Mal 2:7 “For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and
they seek the Torah from his mouth, for he is the messenger of יהוה of hosts. ……
Shaul
makes the difference in Abraham
descendants because only Yitshak seed
shall be called. The children of the flesh! Who are they? Abraham
got Ishmael by following what his
wife Sarah was telling him; to take Hagar her servant, because she sought
that she was not able to bear a child anymore. She reacted after the flesh and
so Ishamel
was the son after the flesh! “At this time I shall come and Sarah shall
have a son”. This was Yitshak, the
son of the promise. Shaul goes further by telling that the promise is in Ya’acov and not in Esau by Him who calls
“Ya’acov I have loved, but Esau I have hated”….
Rom 9:6 However, it is not as though
the word of Elohim has failed. For they
are not all Yisra’ĕl who are of Yisra’ĕl, Rom 9:7 neither are they all children
because they are the seed of Aḇraham, but, “In Yitsḥaq your seed shall be called.” Rom 9:8 That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the
children of Elohim, but the children of
the promise are reckoned as the seed. Rom 9:9 for this is the word of promise, “At this time I shall come and Sarah
shall have a son.” Rom 9:10 and not only so, but Riḇqah
having conceived by one, our father Yitsḥaq. Rom 9:11 yet, before they were born or had done any good or evil – in order that
the purpose of Elohim, according to choice, might stand, not of works but of
Him who calls – Rom 9:12 it was said to her, “The greater
shall serve the lesser,” Rom 9:13 as it has been written,
“Yaʽaqoḇ I have loved, but Ěsaw I have hated.” ....Sha’ul make it clear only the
descendants from Itzhak and from Ya’acov are
