Parsha Vayeshev - And he dwelt

Parsha Vayeshev - And he dwelt
B’reshit 37:1- 40:23
Haftorah
Amos 2:6-3:-8, Z’kharaYah 3:1-4:7, Acts 7:9-16
Daniel ben Ya'acov Israel

Before we start let us pray! --
Heavenly Father we humbly come before thee through our master יהושע Messiah for we know that you alone are the teacher of your people, asking you to open our mind and to help our infirmity to understand. Our mind has been moulded by the world's teaching; help us to renew our mind with the entrance of your word for it is written that the entrance of your words brings light. Mercy full Father opens our mind to thee and gives us eyes to see what you have hid behind the letter for those who seek thee. We thank you for it and bless your Qadosh Name. Amein!
One more time, are we going to scrutinize the Torah to found out what Elohim has kept secret for those who love him. The Sod or “mystery” of Torah is not to be seen in the plain text, the p'shat (literal). The revelation is found in Messiah יהושע who is the “goal of the Torah” (Rom.10:4).
As usual I will use the book of Yasher (book of the Just) to bring light in some Torah’s passages which are not clear in Moshe’s writing. Years long, many scholars and “so called pastors” have brought their own “teaching” without giving proof of the accuracy of their statements. Don't think it to be pretentious from me to make this statement, but the book of Yasher is mention twice in the Tanak, 2nd Sh'muel and the book of Yoshua (Yehoshua son of Nun), unfortunately many scholars neglect to read it. I don't make "Yasher" the source of all understanding but consider it as a good help to bring light in some passage. The Hebrew interpretation called “Pardes” is based on unchangeable rules, in that one level of interpretation cannot change the P’shat (literal) meaning in order to explain something.  Yoseph has been always looked at, as a perfect young boy loved by his father Ya’acov. In the Torah in the P’shat (literal) level, it is hard to understand why Yoseph had to be send twenty years in Egypt, even if Yoseph himself at the end says that it was Elohim’s will. ..
Let see what the book of Yasher tells us concerning Yoseph character:
Yasher chapter 41:  5. and Joseph the son of Jacob, and his brother Benjamin, the sons of Rachel, the wife of  Jacob, were yet young in those days, and did not go out with their brethren during their battles in all the cities of the Amorites.  6. and when Joseph saw the strength of his brethren, and their greatness, he praised them and extolled them, but he ranked himself greater than them, and extolled himself above them; and Jacob, his father, also loved him more than any of his sons, for he was a son of his old age, and through his love toward him, he made him a coat of many colours. 7. and when Joseph saw that his father loved him more than his brethren, he continued to exalt himself above his brethren, and he brought unto his father evil reports concerning them………….
We see that Yoseph was high minded and arrogant toward his brethren. In these days the rule was clear. The first born was to be shown higher respect and so on down to the youngest one. In other word, Yoseph was almost the last one, having only Benjamin behind him..................
Yasher 41:15. And his father heard the words of Joseph and his dream, and seeing that his brethren hated Joseph on account of this matter, Jacob therefore rebuked Joseph before his brethren on account of this thing, saying, What meaneth this dream which thou hast dreamed, and this magnifying thyself before thy brethren who are older than thou art? “his father loved him more than any of his sons for he was a son of his old age”. ..........
We have seen in others “Parsha” that the plain text many times doesn’t reveal the full meaning. We have to dig in the “sod” in order to see the beauty and depth of the revelation.  The explanation of the statement that his father loved him more than any of his other brethren is found in Messiah who was to become the suffering servant also called יהושע ben Yoseph”.
Joh 17:26 “And I have made Your Name known to them, and shall make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me might be in them, and I in them. ………
Verse 3 we read that Y’acov made Yoseph a coat of many colours! This statement is not there by accident.   First of all to understand we should see what was the intention of the many colours; so we read concerning Tamar, daughter of King David:
2Sa 13:18 and she (Tamar) had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.
2Sa 13:19 and Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying. ................
Kingly garment not only for daughters but also for sons!
We should give their roles to the patriarchs in the “sod” to understand what יהוה want us to see. Ya’acov is now as father a type of Elohim. Yoseph is the types of Messiah who will be perfected through suffering but also suffer on account of his brethren but let us compare:
Heb 5:8 Though he (יהושע) were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; ----- Heb 5:9 and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him..............
Some will be amazed that יהושע had to learn obedience and made perfect in order to become the author of eternal salvation! It is a slap to all those who claim יהושע to be "G-d in the flesh"Ya’acov (Elohim) made Yoseph (Messiah יהושע) a coat of many colours. If we look in the Hebrew word we will have a help to understand the meaning of the word. Colour: Strong’s # H6446 פּס Pas written  peh, samech      From H6461; properly the palm (of the hand) or sole (of the foot), (compare H6447); by implication (plural) a long and sleeved tunic (perhaps simply a wide one; from the original sense of the root, that is, of many breadths): - (divers) colours......
We don’t have so much information as just the literal meaning. The root of the word will help us:  ----- H 6461 פּסס pâsas paw-sas' A primitive root; probably to disperse, that is, (intransitively) disappear: - cease. .... The root of the word “colour” means: to disperse, disappear, even “cease”!.....
Have you now found the link to the coat of many colours? No!  Let us see further who is Yoseph, is he not the father of Manasseh and Ephraim and their descendants, also called the “House of Israel” or “Ephraim”?  Is not the “House of Israel” who has been scattered, dispersed, cease to be called “my people”,  among the nations?   Can you see now the many colours? Intermingled with the nations around them, the many colours are a picture of the nation’s mixing!
Hos 7:8 “Ephrayim mixes himself among the people, Ephrayim has become a cake unturned.   In fact the roots of the words “colours” show us that the colours represent the disperse descendants of Yoseph mixed like the colour of his robe.
Eze 36:19 “And I scattered them among the gentiles (Goyim), and they were dispersed throughout the lands. I have judged them according to their ways and their deeds.  Joh 7:35 The Yehuḏim, therefore, said to themselves, “Where is He about to go that we shall not find Him? Is He about to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and to teach the Greeks?
We see even more when יהושע made this statement:
Mat 15:24 and He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ĕl.” (Descendants from Yoseph)
Hos 1:4 and YHWH said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel........
.Yoseph had inherit some character marks from his Father’s Ya’acov and tried to get favour at any price. Elohim will have to send him to Mitzrayim for twenty years in order to make him the vessel he wants him to be; to separate the godly seed from the carnal nature.  Is not twenty year a symbol of two thousand years of יהושע among Yoseph's children called Ephraim or the House of Israel among the nations (Egypt)?
Gen 37:1 and Yaʽaqoḇ dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Kenaʽan.
Ya'acov returns to the land of his father Itzak seventeen years before his death (Albert Barnes)
Gen 37:2 This is the genealogy of Yaʽaqoḇ. Yosĕph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the young man was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Yosĕph brought an evil report of them to his father.
Barnes gives us following commentary:  --- Joseph is the favourite of his father, but not of his brethren. “In the land of his father’s sojourning” This contrasts Jacob with Esau, who removed to Mount Seir. This notice precedes the phrase, “These are the generations.” The corresponding sentence in the case of Isaac is placed at the end of the preceding section of the narrative Gen_25:11. “The son of seventeen years;” in his seventeenth year Gen_37:32. “The sons of Bilhah and Zilpah” The sons of the handmaids were nearer his own age, and perhaps more tolerant of the favourite than the sons of Leah the free wife. Benjamin at this time was about four years of age. “An evil report of them.” The unsophisticated child of home is prompt in the disapproval of evil, and frank in the avowal (acknowledgement) of his feelings. What the evil was we are not informed; but Jacob’s full-grown sons were now far from the paternal eye, and prone, as it seems, to give way to temptation. Many scandals come out to view in the chosen family. “Loved Joseph.” He was the son of his best-loved wife, and of his old age; as Benjamin had not yet come into much notice.......
Gen 37:3 and Yisra’ĕl loved Yosĕph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a long robe.  Gen 37:4 But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and were not able to speak peaceably to him.

Yasher 41: --- 9. and Joseph was seventeen years old, and he was still magnifying himself above his

brethren, and thought of raising himself above them. 10. at that time he dreamed a dream, and he came unto his brothers and told them his dream, and he said unto them, I dreamed a dream, and behold we were all binding sheaves in the field, and my sheaf rose and placed itself upon the ground and your sheaves surrounded it and bowed down to it. ........
Gen 37:5 and Yosĕph dreamed a dream, and told it to his brothers. So they hated him even more.  Gen 37:6 and he said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have dreamed:  Gen 37:7 “See, we were binding sheaves in the midst of the field, and see, my sheaf rose up and also stood up. And see, your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”  Gen 37:8 and his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Shall you indeed rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.  Gen 37:9 and he dreamed still another dream and related it to his brothers, and said, “See, I have dreamed another dream, and see, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”
The repetition of dream are to confirm יהוה' nature of dream.   The two dreams have separated time frame. The first will happen when Yoseph (Messiah) brethren will meet him again two times in Mitzrayim (Egypt). Both are a shadow of Messiah’s coming first and second dream are prophetic for the last days:  The first dream is that his brethren do not like that Yoseph (Messiah) will reign and that they will bow down to him
Gen 50:18 and his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “See, we are your servants.”
Joh 7:1 and after this יהושע was walking in Galil, for He did not wish to walk in Yehuḏah, because the Yehudim (יהושע’s brethren) were seeking to kill Him.
Php 2:8 and having been found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, death even of a stake.  Php 2:9 Elohim, therefore, has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name,
The second dream show the position Messiah will have at the Second Advent, reflected in Yoseph’s life.
Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest He be enraged, and you perish in the way, for soon His wrath is to be kindled. Blessed are all those taking refuge in Him.
Php 2:10 that at the Name of יהושע every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Php 2:11 and every tongue should confess that יהושע Messiah is Master, to the glory of Elohim the Father.
Does not the verse 10 show us that even Yoseph’s father Ya’acov was angry with him, as he asked Yoseph if he and his mother would also bow to him?  The question may be asked, but if we look in the “sod” we will see the answer.  Yoseph, the type of Messiah will be the “saviour “, of his family:
Gen 45:5 “And now, do not be grieved nor displeased with yourselves because you sold me here, for Elohim sent me before you to preserve life. Gen 45:6 “For two years now the scarcity of food has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there is neither ploughing nor harvesting.  Gen 45:7 “And Elohim sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to give life to you by a great escape.   Gen 45:8 “So then, you did not send me here, but Elohim. And He has set me for a father to Pharaoh, and master of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Mitsrayim.
Ya’acov’s descendants are called “the House of Ya’acov” which includes the twelve tribes. יהושע who is the fulfilment of יהוה’s revelation in Yoseph’s life, is said to reign over the house of Ya’acov forever:
Luk 1:33 “And He (יהושע) shall reign over the house of Yaʽaqoḇ forever, and there shall be no end to His reign.”
Gen 37:10 and he related it to his father and his brothers. And his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall we, your mother and I and your brothers, indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”   Gen 37:11 and his brothers envied him, but his father guarded the word.
Mat 27:18 for he (יהושע) knew that because of envy they had delivered Him up.

Yasher 41:  ---- 11. and his brethren answered him and said unto him, What meaneth this dream that thou didst dream? dost thou imagine in thy heart to reign or rule over us?  12. and he still came, and told the thing to his father Jacob, and Jacob kissed Joseph when he heard these words from his mouth, and Jacob blessed Joseph. 13. and when the sons of Jacob saw that their father had blessed Joseph and had kissed him, and that he loved him exceedingly, they became jealous of him and hated him the more.

Gen 37:12 and his brothers went to feed their father’s flock in Sheḵem.  Gen 37:13 and Yisra’ĕl said to Yosĕph, “Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Sheḵem? Come, I send you to them.” So he said to him, “Here I am.”

Ya'acov rebuke Yospeh after the second dream, but the book of Yasher give us the reason why he did rebuked him although he knew that the dreams were of Elohim:   41:15. and his father heard the words of Joseph and his dream, and seeing that his brethren  hated Joseph on account of this matter, Jacob therefore rebuked Joseph before his  brethren on account of this thing, saying, What meaneth this dream which thou hast  dreamed, and this magnifying thyself before thy brethren who are older than thou art? 16. Dost thou imagine in thy heart that I and thy mother and thy eleven brethren will come  and bow down to thee, that thou speakest these things?
17. and his brethren were jealous of him on account of his words and dreams, and they continued to hate him, and Jacob reserved the dreams in his heart.   We have a similar situation with Myriam (Maria) יהושע' mother:
Luk 2:9 and, lo, the messenger of YHWH came upon them, and the glory of YHWH shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. Luk 2:10 and the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  Luk 2:11 for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is the Messiah the Sovereign……………………………
Luk 2:15 and it came to pass, as the messengers were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which YHWH hath made known unto us. Luk 2:16 and they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. Luk 2:17 and when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child (verses 10-11).
Luk 2:18 and all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.  Luk 2:19 but Mary, (Myriam) kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.  Luk 2:20 and the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising YHWH for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them...................
Myriam kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart because the men were confirming what the messenger Gabriel the messenger of יהוה had told her. Like Ya'acov she kept all saying in her heart, because time will disclose the saying in the appointed season.
Verse 13 Ya’acov is called Israel. The meaning is found in the spiritual. Every time Ya’acov is called Israel, it refers to the man “above” the spiritual man. When the Tanahk refers to Ya’acov it refers to him as the “carnal” man. they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Gen 37:14 and he said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the sheep, and bring back word to me.” So he sent him out of the Valley of Ḥeḇron, and he went to Sheḵem. ..........
Yasher 41: ---- 19. and Jacob saw that his sons were delayed in Shechem, and Jacob said within himself, Peradventure the people of Shechem have risen up to fight against them, therefore they have delayed coming this day.  20. and Jacob called Joseph his son and commanded him, saying, Behold thy brethren are  feeding in Shechem this day, and behold they have not yet come back; go now therefore and see where they are, and bring me word back concerning the welfare of thy brethren and the welfare of the flock.
Gen 37:15 and a certain man found him, and see, he was wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, “What do you seek?” Gen 37:16 and he said, “I am seeking my brothers. Please inform me where they are feeding their sheep.” Gen 37:17 and the man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go towards Dothan.’ ” So Yosĕph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan.
Who is this man?
Yasher 41:  --- 22. and an angel of YHWH found him wandering in the road toward the field, and Joseph said unto the angel of YHWH, I seek my brethren; hast thou not heard where they are feeding? and the angel of YHWH said unto Joseph, I saw thy brethren feeding here, and I heard them say they would go to feed in Dothan.
Gen 37:18 and they saw him from a distance, and before he came near them, they plotted against him, to kill him.  Gen 37:19 and they said to each other, “See, this master of dreams is coming! Gen 37:20 “Now, then, come and let us now kill him and throw him into some pit, and shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ Let us then see what comes of his dreams!”
We find an interesting parable from Yeshua in the book of Mattityahu:
Matt.21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40 When the master therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

●Hatred brings somebody out of יהוה’s will. Remember what Cain did to his brother Abel:
Gen 4:5 but He did not look to Qayin and his offering. And Qayin was very wroth, and his face fell.  Gen 4:8 And Qayin told Heḇel his brother. And it came to be when they were in the field, that Qayin rose up against Heḇel his brother and killed him. .........
Here Yoseph's brothers threw him in a pit, here a euphemism for death in the grave!
Psa 30:3 O YHWH, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit…….
Psa 30:9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit (the place of the wicked)? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
Thus pointing to יהושע' death first, before going to the world (Egypt) among Yoseph's descendants, Ephraim, the House of Israel. We will see how Yoseph will go to Egypt, the place of idolatry like our forefathers (Ephraim) have been scattered among the nations of the world, modern Egypt........
Gen 37:21 But Re’uḇĕn heard and rescued him from their hands, and said, “Let us not take his life.” .........
●Reuben was the first born and tried to use his authority to rescue Yoseph in vain....... Gen 37:22 And Re’uḇĕn said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit which is in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him” – in order to rescue him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father. Gen 37:23 so it came to be, when Yosĕph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Yosĕph of his robe, the long robe which was on him. Gen 37:24 and they took him and threw him into a pit. And the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
“They threw him into a pit ……. And there was no water in it”  Look and compare the empty pit:
Luk 23:53 and he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before (empty) was laid........
Here the pit is a picture of the place of eternal punishment where sinners are to be thrown and “no water in it” is to be without Torah to rescue!
Psa 30:3 יהוה, you brought me up from the grave; You have kept me alive, from going down into the pitPsa 30:9 “What gain is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Would dust praise You? Would it declare your truth?
Psa 55:23 for You, O Elohim, do bring them down To the pit of destruction; Men of blood and deceit do not reach half their days; But I, I trust in you.
Jer 18:20 should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for my life (to kill me). Remember that I stood before You to speak good for them, and to turn away your wrath from them.  Jer 2:13 “For My people have done two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters1, to hew out for themselves cisterns, cracked cisterns, which do not hold water.  ……..
Isa 12:3 and you shall draw water with joy from the fountains of salvation.   Albert Barnes gives following explanation concerning the pit:
Rev 9:1 and the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.  And to him was given the key of the bottomless pit - Of the under-world, considered particularly of the abode of the wicked. This is represented often as a dark prison-house, enclosed with walls, and accessible by gates or doors. These gates or doors are fastened, so that none of the inmates can come out, and the key is in the hand of the keeper or guardian. In Rev_1:18 it is said that the keys of that world are in the hand of the Saviour (compare the notes on that passage); here it is said that for a time, and for a temporary purpose, they are committed to another. The word “pit” - φρέαρ phrear - denotes properly a well, or a pit for water dug in the earth; and then any pit, cave, abyss. The reference here is doubtless to the nether world, considered as the abode of the wicked dead, the prison-house of the guilty.
You may say, but Brother Daniel why then was Yoseph thrown in a pit reserved for the wicked, was he not beloved of Ya'acov? Yes it's true, but we must see more and look at יהושע what do the scriptures say concerning him?.........
Isa 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.  Isa 53:9 and he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth…………..Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul  unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors..............
The righteous for the sinners! But יהוה will not let Yoseph in the pit but send him to Egypt which foreshows the world today in all its immoral way of life...............
Gen 37:25 and they sat down to eat a meal. And they lifted their eyes and looked and saw a company of Yishmaʽĕlites, coming from Gilʽaḏ with their camels, bearing spices, and balm, and myrrh, and going to take them down to Mitsrayim. Gen 37:26 and Yehuḏah said to his brothers, “What would we gain if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? Gen 37:27 “Come and let us sell him to the Yishmaʽĕlites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our flesh.” And his brothers listened.
Gen 37:28 and men, Miḏyanite traders passed by, so they pulled Yosĕph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Yishmaʽĕlites for twenty pieces of silver. And they took Yosĕph to Mitsrayim.   ........
The Ishmaelites are the descendants of Abraham through Hagar. In the Torah there is no coincidence. Let us look what is the link between the Ishmaelites and Yoseph. Today the descendants of the Ishmaelites are the Arabs. not the Muslim, because many nations have turned to the Muslim belief and are not Arabs, like the Pakistanis, the Egyptians, Palestinians, Indonesians and many others. The true descendants from Abraham through Hagar are the Saudis, the inhabitants from Saudis Arabia...........
Now where is the link with Yoseph?
Verse 31 we read: “they took Yoseph’s robe” It was not possible for the Ishmaelites to recognize the son from Ya’acov, he wasn’t wearing his coat of many colours......
Today the Arabs (Ishmaelites) do not recognize “Jesus” because he has not his coat of many colours as it was also tradition among them! “Jesus” does not walk in the Torah of Abraham, Itzahk and Ya’acov his forefathers, therefore Arabs are confused and cannot accept this “Jesus”. יהושעis mentioned in the Koran Surate 111:55 as the prophet! Moderate Muslims acknowledge יהושע as a prophet send by Elohim, even is they are blind to his Messiah ship. Can you see the confusion brought by the Roman Catholics? Will there be some coming back to the true faith found in יהושע? Future will tell us, for there is no salvation found in any other names, but the name יהושע (Acts 4:12).   We read also from Ishmaelites and the Medianites, we are not to mix them, the last are also descendants of Abraham but through his last wife Keturah who bear Midian (b'reshit 25:1-2)................
Yasher 42: ---- 2. They were holding the counsel, when they lifted up their eyes, and saw, and behold there was a company of Ishmaelites coming at a distance by the road of Gilead, going down to Egypt. 3. and Judah said unto them, What gain will it be to us if we slay our brother? peradventure God will require him from us; this then is the counsel proposed concerning him, which you shall do unto him: Behold this company of Ishmaelites  going down to Egypt, 4. now therefore, come let us dispose of him to them, and let not our hand be upon him, and they will lead him along with them, and he will be lost amongst the people of the land, and we will not put him to death with our own hands. And the proposal pleased his brethren and they did according to the word of Judah. 5. and whilst they were discoursing about this matter, and before the company of Ishmaelites had come up to them, seven trading men of Midian passed by them, and as they passed they were thirsty, and they lifted up their eyes and saw the pit in which  Joseph was immured, and they looked, and behold every species of bird was upon him.  6. and these Midianites ran to the pit to drink water, for they thought that it contained  water, and on coming before the pit they heard the voice of Joseph crying and weeping in the pit, and they looked down into the pit, and they saw and behold there was a youth of comely appearance and well favored.  7. and they called unto him and said, Who art thou and who brought thee hither, and who placed thee in this pit, in the wilderness? and they all assisted to raise up Joseph and they drew him out, and brought him up from the pit, and took him and went away on
their journey and passed by his brethren.  8. and these said unto them, Why do you do this, to take our servant from us and to go away? surely we placed this youth in the pit because he rebelled against us, and you come and bring him up and lead him away; now then give us back our servant. 9. and the Midianites answered and said unto the sons of Jacob, Is this your servant, or does this man attend you? per adventure you are all his servants, for he is more comely and well favoured than any of you, and why do you all speak falsely unto us? 10. Now therefore we will not listen to your words, nor attend to you, for we found the youth in the pit in the wilderness, and we took him; we will therefore go on. 11. and all the sons of Jacob approached them and rose up to them and said unto them, Give us back our servant, and why will you all die by the edge of the sword? And the Midianites cried out against them, and they drew their swords, and approached to fight with the sons of Jacob. 12. and behold Simeon rose up from his seat against them, and sprang upon the ground and drew his sword and approached the Midianites and he gave a terrible shout before them, so that his shouting was heard at a distance, and the earth shook at Simeon's shouting. 13. and the Midianites were terrified on account of Simeon and the noise of his shouting, and they fell upon their faces, and were excessively alarmed. 14. and Simeon said unto them, Verily I am Simeon, the son of Jacob the Hebrew, who
have, only with my brother, destroyed the city of Shechem and the cities of the Amorites; so shall God moreover do unto me, that if all your brethren the people of Midian, and also the kings of Canaan, were to come with you, they could not fight against me. 15. Now therefore give us back the youth whom you have taken, lest I give your flesh to the birds of the skies and the beasts of the earth. 16. And the Midianites were more afraid of Simeon, and they approached the sons of Jacob with terror and fright, and with pathetic words, saying,
17. Surely you have said that the young man is your servant, and that he rebelled against you, and therefore you placed him in the pit; what then will you do with a servant who rebels against his master? Now therefore sell him unto us, and we will give you all that you require for him; and YHWH was pleased to do this in order that the sons of Jacob should not slay their brother. 18. And the Midianites saw that Joseph was of a comely appearance and well-favored; they desired him in their hearts and were urgent to purchase him from his brethren. 19. And the sons of Jacob hearkened to the Midianites and they sold their brother Joseph to them for twenty pieces of silver, and Reuben their brother was not with them, and the Midianites took Joseph and continued their journey to Gilead. 20. They were going along the road and the Midianites repented of what they had done, in having purchased the young man, and one said to the other, What is this thing that we
have done, in taking this youth from the Hebrews, who is of comely appearance and well favoured. 21. Perhaps this youth is stolen from the land of the Hebrews, and why then have we done  this thing? and if he should be sought for and found in our hands we shall die through him.  22. Now surely hardy and powerful men have sold him to us, the strength of one of whom you saw this day; perhaps they stole him from his land with their might and with their powerful arm, and have therefore sold him to us for the small value which we gave unto them. 23. and whilst they were thus discoursing together, they looked, and behold the company of Ishmaelites which was coming at first, and which the sons of Jacob saw, was advancing toward the Midianites, and the Midianites said to each other, Come let us sell this youth to the company of Ishmaelites who are coming toward us, and we will take for him the little that we gave for him, and we will be delivered from his evil.
24. and they did so, and they reached the Ishmaelites, and the Midianites sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver which they had given for him to his brethren. 25. and the Midianites went on their road to Gilead, and the Ishmaelites took Joseph and they let him ride upon one of the camels, and they were leading him to Egypt. 26. and Joseph heard that the Ishmaelites were proceeding to Egypt, and Joseph lamented and wept at this thing that he was to be so far removed from the land of Canaan, from his father, and he wept bitterly whilst he was riding upon the camel, and one of their men observed him, and made him go down from the camel and walk on foot, and notwithstanding this Joseph continued to cry and weep, and he said, O my father, my father. 27. and one of the Ishmaelites rose up and smote Joseph upon the cheek, and still he continued to weep; and Joseph was fatigued in the road, and was unable to proceed on account of the bitterness of his soul, and they all smote him and afflicted him in the road, and they terrified him in order that he might cease from weeping. ...................
The coat of many colours has different meanings. Beside been the gift from Ya’acov to His beloved son Yoseph, it is also a garment bearing many symbols......
Jamieson, Fausset and Brown gives following details: ---- made him a coat of many colours — formed in those early days by sewing together patches of coloured cloth, and considered a dress of distinction (Jdg_5:30; 2Sa_13:18). The passion for various colours still reigns among the Arabs and other people of the East, who are fond of dressing their children in this gaudy attire. But since the art of interweaving various patterns was introduced, “the coats of colours” are different now from what they seem to have been in patriarchal times, and bear a close resemblance to the varieties of tartan...........
Barnes gives us also details concerning the price paid for Yoseph:
Lev 27:4-7  ----- The relative values of the persons appear to be regulated according to an estimate of the probable value of their future work:
Ages
Male
Female
From a month to five years of age
5 shekels
3 shekels
From five years to twenty of age
20 shekels
10 shekels
From forty years to sixty of age
50 shekels
30 shekels
Sixty years of age and older:
15 shekels
10 shekels
It is also the price given by Moshe for a child under Twenty years of age, Yoseph was seventeen year old:
Lev 27:5 and if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.
Gen 37:29 and Re’uḇĕn returned to the pit, and see, Yosĕph was not in the pit. And he tore his garments.   Gen 37:30 and he returned to his brothers and said, “The boy is gone! And I, where am I to go?”   ..........
The reason why Yoseph was sold while Reuben was absent can be explained by the fact that Reuben was the First born and thus had the authority of decision, he didn't agree with his brother's plan so that they by passed him.......
Gen 37:31 So they took Yosĕph’s robe, killed a male goat, and dipped the robe in the blood, ....... Gen 37:32 and sent the long robe and brought it to their father and said, “We have found this. Please look, is it the robe of your son or not?” ..... Gen 37:33 and he recognised it and said, “It is my son’s robe. An evil beast has devoured him. Yosĕph is torn, torn to pieces.” ..............Gen 37:34 and Yaʽaqoḇ tore his garments, and put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.   Gen 37:35 and all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted, and he said, “Now let me go down into the grave to my son in mourning.” So his father wept for him. ..............
Verse 31 “they took Yoseph’s robe … and dipped the robe in the blood”. This is a euphemism of the death of יהושע.To take the robe is also to take away his father’s given authority. When יהושע came in the fourth Millennium, the majority of the Yehudin who were in Yerushlayim, didn’t accepted him to be the Messiah. After some years at the end of the first century, the majority forgot about the event and turned back to their traditions as it is today for almost all "jews" who try to establish their own righteousness by the Oral Torah. They forgot like Ya’acov children forgot Yoseph for twenty years, until Elohim brought him back before them in Mitzrayim (Egypt). After a while they turned to their daily occupations not knowing that יהוה was watching about Yoseph to bring the fulfilment of His will.    This is a very strong parable because today the "Jews" for the greatest part of them have not recognized יהושע to be Messiah. The name "Jesus" is now also in Israel replaced with the true Name of Messiah יהושע but the veil is still upon their heart. We will see in the coming parsha that it will be Benjamin who will first recognize Yoseph in Egypt. Benjamites have been assimilated to the House of Yehuda after the split of the two Kingdoms after Shalomo's reign and thus are today also called "Jews". Could it be that those “Jews” having already recognized and accepted יהושע are from Benjamin? Do you know why, I am saying this? The answer is in the coming parasha...............
Gen 37:36 and the Miḏanites had sold him in Mitsrayim to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard. ...........Potiphar — This name, Potiphar, signifies one “devoted to the sun,” the local deity of On or Heliopolis, a circumstance which fixes the place of his residence in the Delta, the district of Egypt bordering on Canaan (Jamieson, Fausset and Brown commentary).
It is known that Egyptians like many nations and ethnic groups all around the world (Aztecs in South America, Mayas) and others groups in Asia were and for many still are today sun worshipers.  The book of Yasher gives us a better understanding how Yoseph came to Mitzrayim (Egypt):
Yasher 42: ---- 3. and Judah said unto them, What gain will it be to us if we slay our brother? peradventure God will require him from us; this then is the counsel proposed concerning him, which you shall do unto him: Behold this company of Ishmaelites going down to Egypt, 4. now therefore, come let us dispose of him to them, and let not our hand be upon him,  and they will lead him along with them, and he will be lost amongst the people of the land, and we will not put him to death with our own hands. 6. and these Midianites ran to the pit to drink water, for they thought that it contained water and on coming before the pit they heard the voice of Joseph crying and weeping in the pit, and they looked down into the pit, and they saw and behold there was a youth of comely appearance and well favoured.
7. and they called unto him and said, Who art thou and who brought thee hither, and who placed thee in this pit, in the wilderness? And they all assisted to raise up Joseph and they drew him out, and brought him up from the pit, and took him and went away on their journey and passed by his brethren. 8. and these said unto them, Why do you do this, to take our servant from us and to go away? surely we placed this youth in the pit because he rebelled against us, and you come and bring him up and lead him away; now then give us back our servant. 9. and the Midianites answered and said unto the sons of Jacob, Is this your servant, or does this man attend you? Peradventure you are all his servants, for he is more comely and well favored than any of you, and why do you all speak falsely unto us?
24.and they did so, and they reached the Ishmaelites, and the Midianites sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver which they had given for him to his brethren. 25.and the Midianites went on their road to Gilead, and the Ishmaelites took Joseph and they let him ride upon one of the camels, and they were leading him to Egypt26.and Joseph heard that the Ishmaelites were proceeding to Egypt, and Joseph lamented and wept at this thing that he was to be so far removed from the land of Canaan, from his father, and he wept bitterly whilst he was riding upon the camel, and one of their men observed him, and made him go down from the camel and walk on foot, and  notwithstanding this Joseph continued to cry and weep, and he said, O my father, my father. 27.and one of the Ishmaelites rose up and smote Joseph upon the cheek, and still he continued to weep; and Joseph was fatigued in the road, and was unable to proceed on account of the bitterness of his soul, and they all smote him and afflicted him in the road, and they terrified him in order that he might cease from weeping.
28.and YHWH saw the ambition of Joseph and his trouble, and YHWH brought down upont  hose men darkness and confusion, and the hand of every one that smote him became withered. 29.and they said to each other, What is this thing that God has done to us in the road? and they knew not that this befell them on account of Joseph. And the men proceeded on the road, and they passed along the road of Ephrath where Rachel was buried.
30.and Joseph reached his mother's grave, and Joseph hastened and ran to his mother's grave, and fell upon the grave and wept. 31.and Joseph cried aloud upon his mother's grave, and he said, O my mother, my mother, O thou who didst give me birth, awake now, and rise and see thy son, how he has been sold for a slave, and no one to pity him. 32.O rise and see thy son, weep with me on account of my troubles, and see the heart of my brethren. ...............
Yehudah was the one who sold Yoseph to the Medianites. The Midianites were also related to Ya’acov’s sons they were descendants from Midian a son of Abraham from his second wife keturah whom he married after Sarah’s death:
The midianites didn’t receive any part of the inheritance from Itzahk, this is very interesting:
Gen 25:1 and Aḇraham took another wife, whose name was Qeturah.
Gen 25:2 And she bore him Zimran, and Yoqshan, and Meḏan, and Miḏian, and Yishbaq, and Shuwaḥ.
The midianites didn’t receive any part of the inheritance from Itzahk, this is very interesting: --- Gen 25:5 Now Aḇraham gave all that he had to Yitsḥaq,  Gen 25:6 but to the sons of the concubines whom Aḇraham had, Aḇraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Yitsḥaq, eastward, to the land of the east. ....
The Midianites were also descendants from Abraham we will find them later under the leadership of Yethro, Moshe’s father in law. They also were not able to recognize Yoseph as the son of Ya’acov, because he didn’t had his coat of many colours. Today confusion is in the world because many people cannot recognize “Jesus” just because he doesn’t has “the coat of many colours”. There are many people who claim to believe “G-d” following the tradition of men and not the truth for we know that the truth is the Torah (Psalm 119:142)
Yoseph will go through the process of refining through the trials of life. This is the same process which יהושעwill undergo יהוהwas watching upon him to make him come out like refined gold, pure vessels useful for the Master. Even יהושעwas made perfect through suffering. Sorry for those who think he is יהוהElohim the Eternal One, because יהוהhas no needs to be made perfect:
Heb 2:10 for it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.  Heb 5:8 though he was a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Heb 5:9 and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Luk 13:32 And He said to them, “Go, say to that fox, ‘See, I cast out demons and perform healings today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’ ..............The Greek word “perfected” is Strong’s # G5048 teleioō     From G5046; to complete, that is, (literally) accomplish, or (figuratively) consummate (in character): - consecrate, finish, fulfil, (make) perfect.
Abram was also to be perfect before Elohim:
Gen 17:1 and it came to be when Aḇram was ninety-nine years old, that יהוה appeared to Aḇram and said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai – walk before Me and be perfect……
The Hebrew word used here is Strong’s H8549 תּמים tâmîym taw-meem' written Tav, meme, yod, mem (final)... From H8552; entire (literally, figuratively or morally); also (as noun) integrity, truth: - without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely (-ity), sound, without spot, undefiled, upright (-ly), whole.
We see that both words are related in their use........ Don't be surprise because it is also a command to all of us!
Mat 5:48 be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect............
Chapter 38: ---- “Yehudah left his brethren”. ...........The story of Yehudah and Tamar is quite interesting. First of all the terms “Yehudah left his brethren” shows that he went his own way, to marry a Canaanite woman, which his fathers have always avoid to do. The particularity in the story is the faithfulness of Tamar who will trick Yehudah in order to have descendants. Yehudah having promised to give her his last son Shelah after Er and Onan had be killed by Elohim because of their wickedness. The name “Tamar” in Hebrew means: --- Strong’s # H8559 תּמר  tâmâr written Tav,mem, resh. taw-mawr'. The same as H8558; Tamar, the name of three women and a place: - Tamar.  H 8558 tâmâr taw-mawr' from an unused root meaning to be erect; a palm tree: - palm (tree).............
We can read about palm tree:
Psa 92:12 the righteous one flourishes like a palm tree, He grows like a cedar in Leḇanon.  Son 7:7 this stature of yours compares to a palm tree, and your breasts to clusters...........
Palm trees are a euphemism for righteous people, cedar have a double meaning: majesty but also many times pride depending on context. Tamar although a Canaanite, was a righteous woman! This is quite interesting as we can see today that many coming from other nations join themselves to Israel and accept the Torah as part of their life.
Gen 38:26 And Yehuḏah examined and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shĕlah my son.” And he never knew her again. Gen 38:1 and at that time it came to be that Yehuḏah left his brothers, and turned aside to a man, an Aḏullamite whose name was Ḥirah. Gen 38:2 and Yehuḏah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shuwa. And he took her and went in to her. Gen 38:3 so she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Ěr. Gen 38:4 and she conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.  Gen 38:5 and she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shĕlah. And he was at Keziḇ when she bore him. Gen 38:6 and Yehuḏah took a wife for Ěr his first-born, and her name was Tamar. Gen 38:7 But Ěr, Yehuḏah’s first-born, was evil in the eyes of יהוה, and יהוה took his life. Gen 38:8 and Yehuḏah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.” Gen 38:9 and Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. And it came to be, when he went in to his brother’s wife that he spilled on the ground, lest he should give an offspring to his brother.  Gen 38:10 but what he did displeased יהוה, so He took his life too. Gen 38:11 Then Yehuḏah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow in your father’s house until my son Shĕlah is grown.” For he said: “Lest he also die as his brothers did.” And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house. Gen 38:12 and after a long time the daughter of Shuwa, Yehuḏah’s wife, died. And Yehuḏah was comforted, and went up to his sheep-shearers at Timnah, he and his friend Ḥirah the Aḏullamite. Gen 38:13 and it was reported to Tamar, saying, “See, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.” Gen 38:14 and she took off her widow’s garments, and covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat at the entrance to Ěnayim which was on the way to Timnah (portion). For she saw that Shĕlah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife. Gen 38:15 and Yehuḏah saw her, and reckoned her for a whore, for she had covered her face. Gen 38:16 and he turned aside to her by the way, and said, “Please let me come in to you,” for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. And she said, “What do you give me to come in to me?” Gen 38:17 and he said, “Let me send you a young goat from the flock.” And she said, “Do you give me a pledge until you send it?” Gen 38:18 and he said, “What pledge should I give you?” And she said, “Your seal and your cord and your staff that is in your hand.” And he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him. Gen 38:19 and she arose and went away, and removed her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood. Gen 38:20 and Yehuḏah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend the Aḏullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand, but he did not find her. Gen 38:21 and he asked the men of that place, saying, “Where is the cult prostitute who was beside the way to Ěnayim (portion)?” And they said, “There was no cult prostitute in this place.”  Gen 38:22 and he returned to Yehuḏah and said, “I have not found her. And the men of the place also said there was no cult prostitute in this place.” Gen 38:23 and Yehuḏah said, “Let her take them for herself, lest we become despised, for I sent this young goat and you have not found her.” Gen 38:24 and it came to be, about three months after that Yehuḏah was informed, saying, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has whored, and see, she has conceived by whoring.” And Yehuḏah said, “Bring her out and let her be burned!”  Gen 38:25 When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please examine whose these are: the seal and the cord and the staff.” Gen 38:26 and Yehuḏah examined and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shĕlah my son.” And he never knew her again. Gen 38:27 and it came to be, at the time for giving birth that see twins were in her womb.
The children of Judah’s wife ….Er: Strong’s #H6147 ער ‛êr ayr   From H5782; watchful; Er, the name of two Israelites: - Er  Onan: trong’s #H209 אונן 'ônân o-nawn'  A variation of H207; strong; Onan, a son of Judah: - Onan.  Remember that Tamar means “Palm tree” a euphemism for righteous people (Psalm 92:12) Shela: Strong’s# H7956 שׁלה shêlâh shay-law'  The same as H7596 (shortened); request; Shelah, the name of a postdiluvian patriarch and of an Israelite: - Shelah.  H7596: sheh-ay-law',   From H7592; a petition; by implication a loan: - loan, petition, request.  Tamar (the Palm tree) was “righteous” watchful in her way strong in her challenges, waiting for the request or petition, loan!
Who was Tamar to act this way that Yehudah say: She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shĕlah my son.”?.....
Yasher 45:23. And in those days Judah went to the house of Shem and took Tamar the daughter of Elam, the son of Shem, for a wife for his first born Er…..
Yehudah took a Canaanite woman for wife Shuha (verse 3). Tamar been raised in the family of her father Elam son of Shem, knew how to behave to raise seed to the first dead husband. She was from the lineage of Abraham.  Gen24:2 and Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
Gen 24:3 and I will make thee swear by YHWH, the Elohim of heaven, and the Elohim of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: Gen 24:4 but thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. Gen 15:18 In the same day YHWH made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: Gen 15:19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, Gen 15:20 and the Hittites*, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, Gen 15:21 and the Amorites*, and the Canaanites*, and the Girgashites*, and the Jebusites*. *Direct descendants from Canaan one of Noach son who has been cursed (b’reshit 9:25)…..
Judah disobey (sin) by breaking the commands that was respected by Abraham Itzahk, and Ya’acov. Lookig in Tamar’s life we see that out of her womb will come David and later from this lineage our Master Yehoshua, who died for our past sins. YHWH destroyed the seed of Yehudah with the Canaanite woman (Er and Onan), the last one Shelah …..
Gen 38:28 and it came to be, when she was giving birth, that the one put out his hand. And the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.”
Gen 38:29 and it came to be, as he drew back his hand that see, his brother came out! And she said, “How did you break through? This breach be upon you!” So his name was called Perets. Gen 38:30 and afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand. So his name was called Zeraḥ. …….
The birth of Perets, also written “Pharez” is quite interesting and we find him again in another book: --- Rth 4:12 “And let your house be like the house of Perets, whom Tamar bore to Yehuḏah, of the seed which יהוה does give you from this young woman.”  Rth 4:18 and this is the genealogy of Perets (Pharez): Perets brought forth Ḥetsron.  Rth 4:19 and Ḥetsron brought forth Ram, and Ram brought forth Amminaḏaḇ.  Rth 4:20 and Amminaḏaḇ brought forth Naḥshon, and Naḥshon brought forth Salmon. Rth 4:21 and Salmon brought forth Boʽaz, and Boʽaz brought forth Oḇĕḏ. Rth 4:22 and Oḇĕḏ brought forth Yishai (Jesse), and Yishai brought forth Dawiḏ. ....
And we all know that יהושעcame from the seed of David! This is amazing to see how יהוה brought the “Just One” יהושעwho was to be the Messiah, the Saviour of the World! Just read this: --- 2Ti 2:20 But in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some unto value and some unto no value.
2Ti 2:21 If, then, anyone cleanses himself from these matters, he shall be a vessel unto value, having been set apart, of good use to the Master, having been prepared for every good work. ......
Tamar was this vessel, she has been prepared through the life’s trials, losing two husbands because of their wickedness, she remained faithful and became the vessel that will carry the seed of David ancestor, Pharez / Perets.......
Perets: Strong's #H6556 פּרץ perets peh'-rets......From H6555; a break (literally or figuratively): - breach, breaking forth (in), X forth, gap...............
The second born of the twin Zarah means “rising of light” in Hebrew and represent the “sun” = “first born” = Israel. Read:
Albert Barnes gives interesting information concerning Judah's age of marriage: ---- Tamar bears Perez and Zerah to Judah. After three months her pregnancy was manifest. “Let her be burnt.” It is manifest Judah had the power to execute this punishment. The life of the widow of his son was in his hands. Stoning was the mode of punishment by the law of Moses Deu_22:20-24; burning, only in aggravated cases Lev_20:14; Lev_21:9. He is a severe judge in a case where he is equally criminal. “She hath been more righteous than I. Tamar was less culpable in this matter than Judah. For he was moved by lust to commit fornication, and was the indirect occasion of Tamar’s conduct by withholding Selah. But Tamar, though wronged, was not free from blame in her mode of righting herself. The youthful indiscretion of Judah in forming intermarriage with a Canaanitish family (Suhah), without the concurrence of his brothers or his father, has been fruitful of crime. If this immorality goes on, the chosen family will be speedily absorbed in the surrounding paganism. Hence, we begin to see the necessity of an immediate removal to another land, where they may be kept more distinct from the native superstition. By the disclosure of Tamar Judah is brought to acknowledgment of his fault, and, we may infer, to repentance. His abstaining from all further sexual intercourse with her may be accepted as a proof of this. “A scarlet thread.” The right of primogeniture here manifests its importance. “Perez” - a breach. Slight incidents become the foundation of names, and are often the hinges on which great events turn. The minutes circumstances connected with the progenitors of the promised seed have a lasting interest.  Judah was at the close of his twenty-ninth year when Perez and Zerah were born. The dates in his family history may be arranged as underneath, on the supposition that the first child was born when the father was in his fourteenth year. This hypothesis is fairly allowable when we take into consideration not only other cases, but the early willfulness of Judah, and the example he gave to his children. The command also to be fruitful and multiply Gen_35:11, which was given especially to Jacob, may have had a tendency to encourage early marriages. It is certain that the Jewish rabbis considered a man to have transgressed a divine precept who passed the age of twenty without being married. They also fixed the marriageable age for males at thirteen years and a day. King Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah when he was not more than twelve 2Ki_16:2; 2Ki_18:2; and King Josiah the father of Jehoiakim, when fourteen years of age 2Ki_22:1; 2Ki_23:36.   Judah 13 years 6 months when Er was born.  Judah 14 years 4 12 months when Onan was born.  Judah 15 years 3 months when Shelah was born.  Judah 28 years 9 months when Perez was born.  Judah 42 years 3 months when Hezron was born to Perez.  Judah 43 years 2 months when Hamul was born.  .......
Exo 4:22 “And you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus said יהוה, “Yisra’ĕl is My son, My first-born,  The lineage is determine by man and not by woman has it is taught sometime nowadays by the rabbis. Women are vessel to carry the seed and bring it to maturity until birth....... Another explanation to this chapter is to be found in the “sod” Yehudah represent the “House of Yehudah” the southern kingdom and Tamar who was disguised as a harlot, represent the “House of Israel” in its whoredom. Yehudah (Judah) got wicked children (verse 7,9 Er and Onan) marrying a Canaanite woman. Once Yehuda’s wife died verse 12 and Yehudah went for a prostitute (Tamar e.g. “Palm tree”) she was more righteous than Yehuda verse 26. Yehudah today walk in the Torah after the letter, but righteousness come from keeping the commandments (Tamar followed Elam’s teaching) through Messiah יהושעour Master.......
Chapter 39: ---- It is good to go to the book of Yasher to get more inside concerning Yoseph tribulation. Here we will see that Yoseph knew hat Elohim was the author of his challenge:----
Yasher chapter 42: 27.and one of the Ishmaelites rose up and smote Joseph upon the cheek, and still he continued to weep; and Joseph was fatigued in the road, and was unable to proceed on account of the bitterness of his soul, and they all smote him and afflicted him in the road, and they terrified him in order that he might cease from weeping. 28.and YHWH saw the ambition of Joseph and his trouble, and YHWH brought down upon those men darkness and confusion, and the hand of every one that smote him became withered. 29.and they said to each other, What is this thing that Elohim has done to us in the road? and
they knew not that this befell them on account of Joseph. 33. Arouse my mother, arouse, awake from thy sleep for me, and direct thy battles against my brethren. O how have they stripped me of my coat, and sold me already twice for a slave, and separated me from my father, and there is no one to pity me.  34. Arouse and lay thy cause against them before God, and see whom God will justify in the judgment, and whom he will condemn.  35.Rise, O my mother, rise, awake from thy sleep and see my father how his soul is with me this day, and comfort him and ease his heart.  36. And Joseph continued to speak these words, and Joseph cried aloud and wept bitterly upon his mother's grave; and he ceased speaking, and from bitterness of heart he became still as a stone upon the grave.  37.and Joseph heard a voice speaking to him from beneath the ground, which answered him with bitterness of heart, and with a voice of weeping and praying in these words: 38.My son, my son Joseph, I have heard the voice of thy weeping and the voice of thy lamentation; I have seen thy tears; I know thy troubles, my son, and it grieves me for thy sake, and abundant grief is added to my grief.  39.Now therefore my son, Joseph my son, hope to YHWH, and wait for him and do not fear, for YHWH is with thee, he will deliver thee from all trouble.  40.Rise my son, go down unto Egypt with thy masters, and do not fear, for YHWH is with thee, my son. And she continued to speak like unto these words unto Joseph, and she was still.  41.and Joseph heard this, and he wondered greatly at this, and he continued to weep; and after this one of the Ishmaelites observed him crying and weeping upon the grave, and his anger was kindled against him, and he drove him from there, and he smote him and cursed him.  42.and Joseph said unto the men, May I find grace in your sight to take me back to my father's house, and he will give you abundance of riches. 43.and they answered him, saying, Art thou not a slave, and where is thy father? and if thou hadst a father thou wouldst not already twice have been sold for a slave for so little value; and their anger was still roused against him, and they continued to smite him and to chastise him, and Joseph wept bitterly.  44.and YHWH saw Joseph's affliction, and YHWH again smote these men, and chastised them, and YHWH caused darkness to envelope them upon the earth, and the lightning flashed and the thunder roared, and the earth shook at the voice of the thunder and of the mighty wind, and the men were terrified and knew not where they should go.  45.and the beasts and camels stood still, and they led them, but they would not go, they smote them, and they crouched upon the ground; and the men said to each other, What is this that Elohim has done to us? what are our transgressions, and what are our sins that this thing has thus befallen us?  46.        And one of them answered and said unto them, Perhaps on account of the sin of afflicting this slave has this thing happened this day to us; now therefore implore him strongly to forgive us, and then we shall know on whose account this evil befalleth us, and if Elohim shall have compassion over us, then we shall know that all this cometh to us  on account of the sin of afflicting this slave.(Don’t forget, Ishmaelite as well as Midianites had knowmedge of Elohim of Abraham, Itzahk and Ya’acov)  47. And the men did so, and they supplicated Joseph and pressed him to forgive them; and they said, We have sinned to Elohim and to thee, now therefore vouchsafe to request of thy Elohim that he shall put away this death from amongst us, for we have sinned to him. 48.And Joseph did according to their words, and YHWH hearkened to Joseph, and YHWH put away the plague which he had inflicted upon those men on account of Joseph, and the beasts rose up from the ground and they conducted them, and they went on, and the raging storm abated and the earth became tranquilized, and the men proceeded on their journey to go down to Egypt, and the men knew that this evil had befallen them on account of Joseph.............Do you think יהוה will afflict people who abuse or mistreat you? Yes he will, do not take the matter in your hands, let Elohim avenge you (Rom.12:9).   Meanwhile Yoseph has been taken to Potiphar, Paraoh’s officer. We can ask ourselves why we had Tamar's chapter between the moment Yospeh was sold to the Midianites and the time he came to Potiphar.....Life goes on Yoseph is no more there with his father Ya'acov, Yehudah who incited his brethren to sell Yoseph left his brethren to go his own way. Nevertheless יהוה watch over His plan. Nothing can bring any change in it. By reading the book of Yasher, we see that it was Elohim’s will for Yoseph to go to Mitzrayim.....Elohim is glorified through Yoseph’s life shining in the middle of idolatry. This is a picture of יהושע and his Talmidin (disciples). יהושע says: “you’re the light of the world”.........In spite of all injustice, Yospeh remains faithful to his call. Read:---- 1Pe 2:21 for to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,
This is a question we should ask ourselves: Am I giving my best to walk in יהושע's steps, or am I going my own way? This we should do as a kind of check up every day before we go to sleep in order to correct our own weakness by repentance and prayer.  1Pe 2:22 “who committed no sin1 nor was deceit found in His mouth,”  1Pe 2:23 who, being reviled, did not revile in return; suffering, did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;  .......You can see how this statement from Kefa feeds also with Yoseph’s life. How is it with us today, how do we react when people threat us unjustly, do we take the matter in our own hands or rather do we entrust ourselves in יהוה? Do we accept our suffering when abused by other; do we avoid sin by following יהושע Messiah our Master?  There are two opportunities when HaSatan will try to destroy a person: ----- ● When a person is successful HaSatan will try to bring pride in his life and thus make him fall  ● When somebody is “down” through the pressure of life (read verses 5-7).HaSatan comes here in the form of Potiphar’s wife to tempt Yoseph.........;HaSatan is also called the “tempter”. Each of us will be tempted in one or another way. For some it will be with sexual temptation, or with money, when we don’t have or if we have too much of it. Doubt is also one of HaSatan trick to bring pressure in our life. We will see in another Parsha how it is with the children of Israel in the wilderness.......... Mat 4:3 and when the tempter came to him (יהושע), he said, If thou be the Son of Elohim, command that these stones be made bread...... Yoseph has been raised by the patriarch Ya’acov who himself has to overcome his own carnal nature in order to become the vessel יהוה wanted him to be. Yospeh will in his turn resist temptation and overcome before been raised to the higher position on earth, a picture of Messiah at his return...... Mat 4:3 and when the tempter came to him (יהושע), he said, If thou be the Son of Elohim, command that these stones be made bread......... Gen 39:1 and Yosĕph had been taken down to Mitsrayim. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, a Mitsrite (Egyptian), bought him from the Yishmaʽĕlites who had taken him down there.  Gen 39:2 and it came to be that יהוה was with Yosĕph, and he became a prosperous man, and was in the house of his master the Mitsrite.   Gen 39:3 and his master saw that יהוה was with him* and that יהוה made all he did to prosper in his hand.  Gen 39:4 so Yosĕph found favour in his eyes, and served him, and he appointed him over his house, and gave into his hand all that he had.  Gen 39:5 and it came to be, from the time that he appointed him over his house and all that he had, that יהוה blessed the Mitsrite’s house for Yosĕph’s sake*. And the blessing of יהוה was on all that he had in the house and in the field.  Gen 39:6 and he left in Yosĕph’s hand all that he had, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. And Yosĕph was handsome in form and appearance.  Gen 39:7 and after these events it came to be that his master’s wife lifted up her eyes to Yosĕph and said, “Lie with me.”  What did Laban say to Ya’acov? Gen 30:27 and Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that YHWH hath blessed me for thy sake (Ya’acov). ……..What did YHWH told Ya’acov? ----- Gen 26:24 and YHWH appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the Elohim of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake. ………….
·       On whose behalf are we blessed?
·       Eph 1:3 Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Master Yahushua the Messiah, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in the Messiah:
Not because of our own righteousness have we been bless, rather on the righteousness imparted to us in Messiah Yehoshua!..............1Co 1:30 but of him are ye in the Messiah Yahushua, who of YHWH is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: ……………Gen 39:8 but he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has given into my hand all that he has. Gen 39:9 “No one is greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld whatever from me but you, because you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin against Elohim?”  Gen 39:10 and it came to be, as she spoke to Yosĕph day by day, that he did not listen to her, to lie with her, to be with her.  Gen 39:11 and it came to be on a certain day, when Yosĕph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside,  Gen 39:12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.  Gen 39:13 and it came to be, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside,
Gen 39:14 that she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, “See, he has brought in to us a Heḇrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.  Gen 39:15 “And it came to be, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside.”  Gen 39:16 and she kept his garment with her until his master came home.  Gen 39:17 and she spoke to him these same words, saying, “The Heḇrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me, to mock me,  Gen 39:18 so it came to be, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.” Gen 39:19 and it came to be, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me according to these words,” that his displeasure burned.  Gen 39:20 Then Yosĕph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the sovereign’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.  Gen 39:21 But יהוה was with Yosĕph and extended kindness to him, and He gave him favour in the eyes of the prison warden.  Gen 39:22 and the prison warden gave into the hand of Yosĕph all the prisoners who were in the prison, and whatever was done there was his doing.  Gen 39:23 The prison warden did not look into any point that was under Yosĕph’s hand, because יהוה was with him. And whatever he did, יהוה made it prosper.  …..Temptation will come. For a man it may be like as it was for Yoseph, but there are many others temptations. The only way to escape is to look at יהוה and trust יהושע to help us to overcome.  Yoseph is now in the prison. Remember Yoseph is a type of Messiah and we should try to read the “parsha” always with this in mind, in order to see what is behind the letter.  Here we have two men, servant of Pharaoh in prison with Yoseph. The wine is a euphemism for Israel. Read: --- Jer 2:21 “Yet I had planted you a choice vine, all of it a true seed. How then have you turned before Me into the degenerate plant of a strange vine?   Psa 80:8 You brought a vine out of Mitsrayim; You drove out the nations, and planted it.......
Verses 10-12 compare with: ---- Rev 14:17 and another messenger came out of the Dwelling Place which is in the heaven, and he too held a sharp sickle. Rev 14:18 and another messenger came out from the altar, having authority over the fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him having the sharp sickle, saying, “Send your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.”  Rev 14:19 and the messenger thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of Elohim.  Rev 14:20 and the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the bridles of the horses, for about three hundred kilometres.
Try to make a relation knowing that the butler is a servant and Pharaoh was called “god on earth”.  Verse 13 “within three days”. At the beginning of the third day, Messiah will come back, is there any relation between this event and the coming back of יהושע in the “sod”? The chief butler had a wine before him. The wine is a picture of Israel has we have seen. And the branches budded and brought ripe grapes? Verse 11: “and I took the grapes and pressed them into Paraoh’s cup and gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.  Compare with Yochanan's vision in the book of Revelation: Rev 14:18 and another messenger came out from the altar, having authority over the fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him having the sharp sickle, saying, “Send your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.”  Rev 14:19 and the messenger thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of Elohim.
Rev 14:20 and the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the bridles of the horses, for about three hundred kilometres.  ..... For the backer there are also three days and it looks that the backer represent the symbolic winepress used for people to receive their punishment? Three days this represent the Two days of Messiah, two thousands years and the Millennium reign of Messiah, one thousand year.  The P’shat (literal) level reveals the account and deliverance of Yoseph. The dreams were there to be used later by Elohim in order to elevate him at Pharaoh’s right hand. We could also see a picture of יהושע who rules יהוה’s kingdom on earth on the third day.  For the chief baker the dream is more concealed, he carry the basket on his head as it was the custom at this time, and he says that the birds "The birds ate them out of the basket on my head.” (verse 17).In the scriptures when not mentioned birds represent evils spirits or demons. Instead of Pharaoh taking the bread or bake meats from the basket, the birds stole they and Pharaoh hang the baker!!!!! May יהוה help us to understand?  A comparison can be made between this portion from Yoseph been in prison and the death of Messiah.  Yehoshua was surrounded by two men on the stake, the one looked unto him asking to remember him and was to go with him to Paradise, the other one was killed without repentance thus like the baker in Yoseph story was executed without mercy! (Matt.23:32-43). Yehoshua will come back on the third day some will raise for everlasting life, other for everlasting condemnation!
Gen 40:1 and after these events it came to be that the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim. Gen 40:2 And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.  Gen 40:3 so he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.  Gen 40:4 and the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.  Gen 40:5 then the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.  Gen 40:6 and Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and looked at them and saw that they were sad.  Gen 40:7 and he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”  Gen 40:8 and they said to him, “We each have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”  Gen 40:9 so the chief cupbearer related his dream to Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,  Gen 40:10 and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.  Gen 40:11 “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup ("G-d on earth"), and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”  Gen 40:12 and Yosĕph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.  Gen 40:13 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer. Gen 40:14 “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.  Gen 40:15 “For truly I was stolen away from the land of the Heḇrews. And also I have done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”  Gen 40:16 and the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,  Gen 40:17 and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”  Gen 40:18 and Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.  Gen 40:19 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”  Gen 40:20 and on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and of the chief baker among his servants, Gen 40:21 and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,  Gen 40:22 but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.  Gen 40:23 and the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.
Haftorah -    See Chart "Lineage of Judah at the End of the Parsha
The prophet Amos which means “burdensome” in Hebrew wrote this message in 787BCE. And proclaim the punishment of the “House of Israel”, Ephraim who has gone after whoring and has turned away from the Torah: “selling the righteous for silver”, “the poor for a pair of sandals”,turn aside the way of the meek”, “ a man and his father go in to the same girl”  they go to their mighty ones (verse8)......יהוה plead with the “House of Israel” and foretell them that he will say what he will do by the mouth of His prophets, even if they don’t want to hear them......Is this warning already fulfilled?  Have we all heard the call of the prophets?   Have we turned from our crocked ways?  Do you think that today calamity, death, wars, famine come just so by coincidence, or is it יהוה fulfilling all his words upon the all world?  The transgressions of Israel have become witness against them, יהוה begin with remembering what he has done for them, and after that start to quote all their wickedness why he sent the prophet Amos to them.  Amo 2:6 Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of Yisra’ĕl, and for four, I do not turn it back, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals,   Amo 2:7 who crush the head of the poor ones in the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go in to the same girl, to defile My set-apart Name. Amo 2:8 “And they lie down by every altar on garments taken in pledge, and in the house of their mighty one they drink the wine of those who have been fined.  Amo 2:9 “Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars. And he was as strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.  Amo 2:10 “And I brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.  Amo 2:11 “And I raised up some of your sons as prophets, and some of your young men as Nazirites. Not so? O you children of Yisra’ĕl?” declares יהוה.  Amo 2:12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine, and commanded the prophets saying, ‘Do not prophesy!’ Amo 2:13 “See, I am weighed down by you, as a wagon is weighed down when filled with sheaves. Amo 2:14 “And a place to flee shall perish from the swift, and the strong not strengthen his power, and the mighty not save his life,  Amo 2:15 and he who handles the bow not stand, and the swift of foot not save, nor he who rides a horse save his life,  Amo 2:16 and the bravest among the mighty flee naked, in that day,” declares יהוה.  Amo 3:1 Hear this word that יהוה has spoken against you, O children of Yisra’ĕl, against the entire clan which I brought up from the land of Mitsrayim, saying,  Amo 3:2You alone have I known of all the clans of the earth, therefore I punish you for all your crookednesses.”  Amo 3:3 Would two walk together, without having met (agree)?
Do you remember that the Children of Israel agreed at Mount Sinai to do all what יהוה will tell them to do?  Exo 19:8 and all the people answered together, and said, All that YHWH hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto YHWH. Amo 3:4 Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Does a young lion give forth his voice out of his den unless he has caught?  Amo 3:5 Does a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Does a snare spring up from the earth, if it has not captured prey?  Amo 3:6 If a ram’s horn is blown in a city, do the people not tremble? If there is calamity in a city, shall not יהוה have done it?  Amo 3:7 for the Master יהוה does no matter unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.  Amo 3:8 a lion has roared! Who is not afraid? The Master יהוה has spoken! Who would not prophesy?........The high Priest here is a picture of Messiah who was loaded with our sins and the “branch” verse 8 is the Hebrew word “Tzemach” another name for “Messiah”. Yehoshusa’s sons defiled themselves with Babylonians women chapter 6:1-7,
We see HaSatan trying to accuse the High Priest Yehoshua, but יהוה rebuke HaSatan and commanded His messenger to remove the filthy garments which represent the works of unrighteousness. יהוה had proclaimed that the captivity in Babylon will less seventy years, after that he will bring them back.   יהוה is proclaiming that he will remove the guilt of the land in one day in the future verse 9……….“Under the wine and the fig tree”.
The wine is a euphemism for Israel, The fig tree a euphemism for the Torah,  The figs representing the fruits of the Torah. ………….. Read:  Jdg 9:10 “Then the trees said to the fig tree, ‘Come, reign over us!’  (Is it not a euphemism for the Torah,) Jdg 9:11 “And the fig tree said to them, ‘Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to sway over trees?’ (and the Torah said …..)  Pro 27:18 He who tends the fig tree eats its fruit; And he who guards his master is esteemed.(are not the fruits good works?) Do you remember יהושע' parable concerning the fig tree? ........ Mat 21:17 and he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany (House of the afflicted); and he lodged there.  Mat 21:18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.  Mat 21:19 and when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only (no fruit), and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. Mat 21:20 and when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! Mat 21:21 Yehoshua  answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. ......The sod reveals what is not seen in the literal text: Bethany is also the place where later יהושע raise his friend Lazarus (Eliezer) from the grave. Bethany was very close to Jerusalem, also a city of Judah. Fig tree is also say to represent Judaism tradition (Halacha) so we can see that the tree bearing no more figs can be interpreted as having no more fruits according to the traditions of man!..............Hos 9:10 “I found Yisra’ĕl like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first-fruits on the fig tree in its beginning. They themselves have gone to Baʽal Peʽor, and separated themselves to shame, and became as abominable as that which they loved Joe 1:7 It has laid waste My vine (Israel) and splintered My fig tree (Torah). It has made it entirely bare and cast it away, its branches became white (no fruit).  Hab 3:17 Though the fig tree does not blossom, And there is no fruit on the vine, The yield of the olive has failed, And the fields brought forth no food, The flock has been cut off from the fold, And there is no herd in the stalls (the fig trees is Israel and do not blossom because they have no fruit). Mat 21:19 and seeing a single fig tree by the way, He came to it and found naught on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” And immediately the fig tree withered.  Luk 13:6 and He spoke this parable, “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.  Luk 13:7 “And he said to the gardener, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down, why does it even make the ground useless?’  Joh 1:48 Nethanĕ’l said to Him, “From where do You know me?” יהושע answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” (What was Nethanael doing under the fig tree?)  Jas 3:12 My brothers, is a fig tree able to bear olives, or a grapevine figs? So neither is a fountain able to make salt and sweet water.  Jas 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom.  ........In all these verses we see an allegory to the Torah and the fruits of righteousness the name “Zerub babel” means in Hebrew: “born there”: “Babel or Babylon”!  …..Chapter 4:1-7
Yehoshua the High Priest is accused by HaSatan. The house of Yehudah was clothed with filthy garments (false Torah behaviors) and the accuser HaSatan was there to accuse. יהוה proclaim by the mouth of the prophet that he will remove the filthiness of the house and will send his servant the BRANCH (Tzemach) יהושע to remove the iniquity (transgression of the Torah) in one day!............ Verse 10 is to be read with יהושע' statement to Nathanael in Yochanan 1:48…..Joh 1:48 Nathanael (El has given) saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Yahushua answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
Zec 3:1 and he showed me Yehoshua the high priest standing before the messenger of יהוה, and Satan standing at his right hand to be an adversary to him.  Zec 3:2 and יהוה said to Satan, “יהוה rebuke you, Satan! יהוה who has chosen Yerushalayim rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”  Zec 3:3 and Yehoshua was dressed in filthy garments, and was standing before the messenger.  Zec 3:4 and He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your guilt from you, and shall put costly robes on you.”  Zec 3:5 and I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” Then they put a clean turban on his head, and they put garments on him. And the messenger of יהוה stood by.  Zec 3:6 and the messenger of יהוה witnessed to Yehoshua, saying,  Zec 3:7 “Thus said יהוה of hosts, ‘If you walk in My ways, and if you guard My duty, then you shall also rule My house, and also guard My courts. And I shall give you access among these standing here.
Zec 3:8 ‘Now listen, Yehoshua the high priest, you and your companions who sit before you, for they are men of symbol. For look, I am bringing forth My Servant – the Branch1. Footnote: 1Or Sprout. See Isa. 4:2, Isa. 11:1, Jer. 23:5, Jer. 33:15, Zech. 6:12. Zec 3:9 ‘See the stone which I have put before Yehoshua: on one stone are seven eyes. See, I am engraving its inscription,’ declares יהוה of hosts, ‘and I shall remove the guilt of that land in one day.  Zec 3:10In that day (at that time),’ declares יהוה of hosts, ‘you shall invite one another, under the vine and under the fig tree.’ ”  Zec 4:1 and the messenger who was speaking to me came back and woke me up as a man is awakened from sleep. Zec 4:2 and he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said, “I have looked, and see: a lampstand all of gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven spouts to the seven lamps. Zec 4:3 “And two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.” Zec 4:4 Then I responded and spoke to the messenger who was speaking to me, saying, “What are these, my master?”Zec 4:5 and the messenger who was speaking to me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my master.”  Zec 4:6 and he answered and said to me, “This is the word of יהוה to Zerubbaḇel, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ said יהוה of hosts.  Zec 4:7 ‘Who are you Great Mountain, before Zerubbaḇel, a plain, and he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Favour, favour to it!” ’ ” Act 7:9 “And the ancestors, becoming jealous, sold Yosĕph into Mitsrayim. But Elohim was with him,  Act 7:10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom before Pharaoh, sovereign of Mitsrayim. And he appointed him governor over Mitsrayim and all his house.  Act 7:11 “Then a scarcity of food and great distress came over all the land of Mitsrayim and Kena‘an (Canaan), and our fathers found no food.  Act 7:12 “But Yaʽaqoḇ heard that there was grain in Mitsrayim, and he sent out our fathers the first time,  Act 7:13 and at the second time Yosĕph was made known to his brothers, and Yosĕph’s race became known to the Pharaoh.  Act 7:14 “And Yosĕph sent and called his father Yaʽaqoḇ and all his relatives to him, seventy-five people. Act 7:15 “And Yaʽaqoḇ went down to Mitsrayim, and died, he and our fathers,  Act 7:16 and they were brought over to Sheḵem and laid in the tomb that Aḇraham bought for a price of silver from the sons of Ḥamor, the father of Sheḵem.
May יהוה bless you through Messiah יהושע as you keep to be diligent to study the Torah.
